  • Certain sites I've visited are still high lighted even after I've cleared my history and cache?

When I look on google or look at sites that I've visited, certain links on those sites are still highlighted to show I've visited them even after I've cleared my history and have cleared my cache. How do I make it so those sites are not highlighted at all?

  • Really good examples of talented/well crafted writing?

for my honors english class we have to bring in a quote or section of a book that is a good example of good writing. I want to bring in something original. I don't want to bring in the great gatsby or lolita, but it has to be an example of good writing. It can be from any genre, as long as the writing itself is well crafted (not too simplistic, has sentence variety, complexity, good rhythm and diction)

I don't read a lot of sophisticated stuff on my own and i need some suggestions, thank you.

  • How to measure with a pencil for art?

when you draw, you measure with your pencil. How exactly does this work, in detail?

Also, do you use the actual small pencil measurements? what if the measurement is to tiny for the paper and you want to make the picture bigger? how do you go about transferring your measurement onto paper properly if you want to make the picture larger?

  • How to take pictures of moving subjects with Nikon D7000?

I'm ok with manual focusing. but for yearbook I need to take pictures of people walking, so they aren't fast moving or anything but some of my pictures have come out a little fuzzy and I want to eliminate the fuzziness. I'm not good at reacting fast and capturing things "in the moment" since I'm a beginner at photography. I heard that the AF mode works best for moving objects, but what else should I keep in mind/know?

  • when to use Is and Are?

so im going to make a tweet for how much I'm craving tater tots.

I know that you are supposed to use is when the object is singular, and are when it's plural, so I think the correct thing to say would be " all I want right now are tater tots" instead of "all I want right now is tater tots"

    soooo am I right?

  • Please name my character?

he is seventeen, tall, skinny, he has dark circles under his eyes, and slouches. He doesn't talk that much and doesn't enjoy making eye contact. He has dark hair, and it's thick. He moves slowly when he walks. His lips are always chapped. Pretty much he looks exhausted most of the time.

  • Is this realistic enough to write about?

I'm currently writing a story where my main character comes from a long line of doctors, his father is a plastic surgeon and his grandfather was a surgeon and so on and so fourth. His father wants him to also be a doctor, and his father is kind of controling and has high expectations. I was wondering if this sounds ridiculous, because I've never met a parent that actually forced a profession onto their child...

  • Is it possible to accurately diagnose yourself?

Hey, this might sound kind of weird but i was surfing around the internet and came across Avoidance Personality Disorder, and personally I feel like it's definitely a disorder that I could have. I was wondering if you can accurately diagnose yourself using just wikipedia, is it just me who does this? usually when I have a problem I look up my symptoms and try to find things that I could have, does this ever prove to be accurate or to really know is it necessary to speak with a professional? I almost feel like it's kind of unfair to have to be properly diagnosed by someone to be considered to have a disorder when you are 99% sure you have it.

  • How do I plot out a story? This is very hard for me?

I feel like the plot of a story is very difficult for me, I feel like I try to hard to make it interesting or to make it have a ton of twists and turns. but, It's hard for me to write thrillers, to leave clues to the readers that they won't understand until it all clicks together at the end, but I really want to do this.

I'm currently writing a story about a boy who gets caught up in a drug cartel, and I'm trying to flesh out the story's plot. I want the Godfather or the boss of the organization to be a mystery that is then revealed. but I don't really know what I'm doing?

  • is there a chatroom for writers?

I have looked and found one recently but its empty and kind of dead.

    here's the link: http://www.4-lane.com/cgi/bookchat.pl

I think we should make it more active because talking about writing with people can be helpful. asking for advice and stuff.

& if you know of a more active chat that would also be helpful.

  • why doesn't he try harder to make friends?

there's this kid that goes to my school and he always sits alone at lunch. He just sits across from my table and stares at us. Sometimes people come sit with him but most of the time he's alone. I know what it feels like to be "new" in a new school and I know it's hard like the few first weeks of school but it's been like a whole year and he still doesn't sit with anyone else. I'm really quiet and self conscious but even I was able to make friends and sit with people. Even if you aren't close friends with people, you sit with them anyways, that way you are not alone and you don't have to feel uncomfortable.

it's just that when he stares at us it makes us feel kind of creeped out and i wish more people sat with him so he wouldn't stare.

  • do we, as humans, control how we respond and react to situations?

when im being negative or responding negatively to a situation i often get told that you can choose to be happy by looking at the positives in life and that its all about mindset. like it's my choice to feel the way i do about a certain situation, that I am choosing unhappiness.

I dont know if i agree with people when they say im choosing to be unhappy. if humans could control how they react and respond to things then wouldn't there be a lot of happier people in the world?

    I just don't get it.

  • I have really bad posture? can I reverse the damage?

I just looked in the mirror, like really looked. I studied what I look like from the side. Turns out, my neck extends forward quite a bit and I slouch. It looks so ugly. I hate it, It makes me really frustrated because I don't know if I will permanently look like this or if I can reverse the structure to being vertical and aligned with my ankles? and it's also hard for me to sit up straight because I don't know if what I'm doing is correct or not and I don't want to create more damage. Also, I sit at school alot and carry around a really heavy backpack.

    can I change how look?
