What is the change in internal energy in joules when a system releases 154 J of heat and does 125 J of work on its surroundings?

B. 279 J

C. -279 J

D. 29 J

E. -29 J

I think the answer would be C. -279 because it says it releases 154 J of heat as well as doing work (which can also be heat) 125 J on the surroundings, so it is losing both 154 J and 125 J = -279

Can anyone tell me if this is right or wrong and why please? Thank you!

I have to do an assignment about Pericles' funeral speech. The chapter we are reading is about idealism and philosophy during the classical ages of Greece.

We were asked if in his speech he is talking about an ideal he hopes Athens will achieve or Athens as he sees it?

I think he is praising Athens democracy as he sees it, but the chapter is focusing on ideals so I think I might be wrong.

I read his short story "Night Surf" and really liked it, and I know its not as hardcore as his other stories. Im just looking for a really good horror book!
