  • positive mantoux, child care center...HELP!!!!?

I have a history of negative mantoux tests, decades. In mid-August I had a negative mantoux, and then last week I had a mantoux test for another job. I had immediate intense itching, eyes burning, scratchy, developed hives on my neck on the car ride home. I have gone to an infectious disease dr, they did AFB cultures, when can I get the results? My current job, started in September is at a daycare center, w/ +/-100 children and >100 families involved. Employees are not required to have mantoux tests in child care centers in MN. I am very concerned someone is spreading TB at the child care center, but the health dept. is not!! I have had very little contact with anyone other than the children and employees there. Kids (some adopted from russia, india, etc)and adults have been coughing since I started working there. Was it the allergic reaction that caused the positive TB test, or a booster effect, or? If you have kids in child care centers, make sure all workers are screened!!

  • Would it offend you if an African American instructor asked you to find your "black power"?

Please answer regardless of your ethnicity. I recently went to a series of classes that was attempting to alleviate racism and prejudice. ALL that was talked about was African American history, all the speakers were African American. In the last class, we were asked to find our "black power." Attendees were from different ethnicities - caucasian, latino, and so forth. Do you think a caucasian can find their "black power?" If you are an African immigrant, would it offend you to find the class only talked about African American history? How would you feel about being in this class?

  • Healthy & Flavorful Dishes With Leeks & Artichokes?

OK, I've had artichokes in artichoke dip and spinach dip, and pickled artichokes, but they are usually mixed with cheese, cream, sour cream and definitely not that healthy. I made leek soup once, an old world recipe...gag. I find that it doesn't add that much flavor to anything, so why bother? What is the best way that you know of to use these ingredients in a tasty and healthy manner?

  • Looking for a volunteer opportunity?

I run a project called Getting at the Roots of Hunger. We provide free seed to anyone who will plant it and share with other people in need, either the neighbor down the street who may be experiencing crisis, or donate the produce to the local food shelf. Churches grow gardens for their food shelves, shelters have their own gardens, and senior housing units have their own gardens too. Help me raise funds, because there are seven more states that want to participate, and right now the project is in MN. I created the project, and 2008 will be its fifth year. Help fight hunger across the United States! You do not have to look far to find hungry people! We buy our seed in bulk, wholesale, and volunteers package it up. Is there a way you can help?

  • Gay Penguins?

How many of you think that if the same sex penguins are put together in the same space, without any females, and they raise eggs, that makes them gay?

  • What percentage of people do any research before asking a question?

Seems all to easy to just ask a question without even attempting to do some research on the subject first. Do you think people who ask questions should research the subject a little before asking?

  • Do people that leave cellphones on during meetings irritate you?

It irritates the heck out of me when cellphones go off, or they answer the phone in a meeting, unless they are emergency services personnel or explain in advance that they are waiting on an emergency call. How do you feel about this?
