It becomes obvious that T-Rex did not need lips to savagely tear apart dying prey, nor did these lips serve any purpose in detecting carcasses.
The T-Rex could only have needed lips for ingesting soft melons and vegetables, as it obviously did in the Garden of Eden before the original sin.
Kind of irks that whole "survival of the fittest" thing doesn't it.
