  • Would you go for this job and why or why not?

You just quit your job. In the past you had a manager say in your performance review that you weren't getting a raise or promotion, you were too quiet and didn't talk enough, and you weren't quite at the next level, but in fact you were working at the next level and you left that job two months later and got a higher paying job with a $4 salary increase and two level promotion where you worked for the next year and a half, then the old manager emails you after you quit that job and asks if you want to come work at the company he is now working at, which seems like a good company that you want to work at, would you be interested? It might require confronting the manager about the performance review, since you will not work at a low level or salary.

  • Should I get my old job back?

I had this job for 11 months last year, it was well paying, I had to work a ton of overtime, late into the night some nights. A manager made one mistake, he got up in a meeting and said "we're going to hire some real help, an ace to help in your department". Then when it came down to doing it they hired a guy who couldn't do anything, just a fat, ugly, idiot who talked incessantly and made creepy noises to himself all day long. Oh, right, and he was a fishing buddy of another lazy guy who kisses up to management. I take my position a bit seriously, and I can deal with managers saying kinds of dumb things, because they are only human, but this was too much for me to handle and I walked out. My direct manager was really extra impatient and had a short fuse about my work because of it, he's a jerk. I felt like I was going to have a heart attack if I stayed.

Anyway, I didn't love my job, but I was good at it. They actually fired the guy that didn't work out, so I wouldn't have that bothering me if I went back. On the other hand I could sit around the house or just do nothing for a few months, since I have some money saved up. The industry I am in has about another 5 years of steady work to do before it slows down.

I dunno, I just have motivation issues. I don't want to get out of bed, and am mildly depressed. I don't date much, I'm 30 and worry about all the cute guys being off the market. That's part of the reason I couldn't handle being stuck in a room with that ugly old guy they hired. I just felt like it was being rubbed in my face that I have nothing much to look forward to in life.
