Would you go for this job and why or why not?

You just quit your job. In the past you had a manager say in your performance review that you weren't getting a raise or promotion, you were too quiet and didn't talk enough, and you weren't quite at the next level, but in fact you were working at the next level and you left that job two months later and got a higher paying job with a $4 salary increase and two level promotion where you worked for the next year and a half, then the old manager emails you after you quit that job and asks if you want to come work at the company he is now working at, which seems like a good company that you want to work at, would you be interested? It might require confronting the manager about the performance review, since you will not work at a low level or salary.

Thanks a lot for all the help. I am considering going there, as a secondary option. First I'll send my resume to another place. My problems with the manager are worth hesitating. I'd feel better with someone I could communicate with. This guy was hard to talk to, and that comment about being too quiet sounded like he didn't accept me. Don't dare be an introvert around him, I guess. He also shows favoritism & tries to build a power base at work, not one of my favorite traits. Anyway, thanks again

    Possible the old manager was hindered by his management in giving promotions and raises.

    Get the word "confront" out of the mix. That sounds very aggressive. And it was 2 years ago. Things change - time marches on.

    Yes, I might be interested. At least - interested enough to talk about it. You don't have to talk about it all confrontational about previous reviews or get all demanding on what you will accept for a position or salary. You have more experience now - you have been making more money.

    Doesn't hurt to talk about it - you have no idea at this point at what will be offered.

    Again, it doesn't hurt to at least consider it.

    So - why did you quit the other job?

    Why would you "confront" a former supervisor / potential employer about a performance review that happened almost 2 years later?

    What I would do =

    If I was interested in working with this man again and working for this company, I would go and meet with him about the position. During the conversation you can ask him about how advancements are handled at this company, how your working relationship will be with him at this company, and other things to ascertain how this situation may be different than in the past.

    - You can evaluate this information to determine if you think that this will be different and something you want to further pursue.

    Saying you want to meet to discuss the opportunity doesn't mean that you will be offered the job or that you even want the job.

    only if he is offering a higher position than where you are at for at least $2-4 more per hour - otherwise it's not worth it and if you have a problem with the guy personally, seems like a bad idea to go work for him again
