What is the best (preferably free) virus software for this situation?
My email account is sending spam to other users. They are people I have emailed in the past. Deleting my contacts list didn't help. I just now changed my password, but I am told I should run an anti-virus program.
Which one? I have Microsoft Security Essentials, which obviously didn't work.

Supposedly it is available with the new ios upgrade. Is it an app I have to install? And who makes it?
3 AnswersProgramming & Design8 years agoIs it better to exercise a call option and sell the stock, rather than sell the option?
Here is my reasoning: I want to close a long call position. If I sell the option, I pay the slippage on the option (seldom less than $40) plus the option commission ($10.74 or more at TD Ameritrade). If I exercise and sell the stock, I pay an exercise fee of $19.99, a stock commission of $9.99, and slippage on the stock which is almost always less than $10. So I come out ahead, right?
8 AnswersInvesting8 years agoHow do I hedge a lump-sum retirement against rising rates?
My wife stands to lose a substantial sum if interest rates (specifically, the PBGC rate) rise before she can retire in about 2 years. What is the best way to hedge this. Treasury futures, LEAPS, ETFs? Also, what kind of security (maybe 10-year treasury?) would be the right one to hedge against?
1 AnswerPersonal Finance9 years agoWhat's a reasonable cost to repair a pilot light on a water heater?
I have a Bradford White gas water heater with a Honeywell WV8860 controller. No longer under warranty, but fairly new and I like the heater. The pilot light won't light. Not a gas problem, says the Gas Co. The plumber insists that replacing the whole heater is the cost effective way to go. I don't believe it. Anyone know what it should cost to replace/repair the controller?

If you watch the show's opening credits you know what I'm talking about.
1 AnswerChemistry9 years agoHow many "notes" can the human ear (brain?) distinguish in one octave?
OK, I know there are 12 semitones in an octave, but is this the limit humans can resolve, or are we just conditioned by the musical scales we have learned? And is everyone the same, or can some people hear the "in between" notes?
Please note that I am not asking about the range (number of octaves) humans can hear. And I know there is no "quantum of sound", i.e., the frequency spectrum is continuous.
An interesting related question: Do humans hear absolute frequencies? I don't mean do some have perfect pitch, I mean if middle A is 440 Hz and A# is 466 Hz, and I play 433 Hz, will different people hear different notes?
2 AnswersPhysics9 years agoCan I roll this over into an IRA or something?
My company doesn't offer a lump sum option for collecting pension benefits, but it does have a 5-year option (payment is made in 60 monthly installments). Do I have to pay income tax on that as I receive it? Or can it be rolled over into an IRA? Have any links on this?

In a sort of tortoise-and-the-hare fashion? After all, they are still there and we are not.
What do you think?

Cancel the streaming option? Cancel disc-by-mail? Are there good alternatives: Redbox, Amazon, etc.?

And if so, where. It is called "Cracking the Code" and his name I believe is O'Dorney.

2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow do you look up a piece if you only know the melody?
Bear with me...I have seen this done in the index of Chinese hymnals. The tune is converted to some sort of cipher notation. For example Ode to Joy is 3 3 4 5 5 4 3 2 1 1 2 3...This allows tunes to be "alphabetized" like in any index. The numbers represent do-re-mi and are hence independent of the key signature.
Is there such an index on the internet? Primarily interested in classical music.
