'old n odd' NOT 'old nodd' sorry if too blunt sometimes, don't have that personality trait you need to tolerate fools easily head full to overflowing with useless information brains work most of time but there will be lapses - momentary ones! I won't say what you want to hear only what I want to say, okay? If in the mood you get loads from me - if not -little Pet hates = racism, prejudice, intolerance, and sheer stupidity (can't help it can't tolerate stupidity!) yeah I know bit contradictory when I hate intolerance! Loves = thinking outside the box, music, laughter.

  • Who else believe the only way to destroy the bikies monetary base is for the government to become the?

Dealer and legalise ALL drugs with supply to adults at a price that makes the illegal trade obsolete and valueless to the bikies and other dealers?

There would be a multitude of advantages gained once the idea had been thoroughly thought through don't you think?

  • Aussies are generous to a fault but when is enough enough? With the current economic troubles it seems harsh?

to expect people to give up their pay to help the fire victims. We have raised 75 milion dollars to help and I know its not enough but pressuring people to give more and risk not meeting their own commitments in order to help those who ultimately will survive seems wrong somehow - charity should be a desire to help and a willing donation not forced on people who are actually suffering too.

Do you think enough has been given by the average joe blow and now it is the governments time to match the donations?

  • why do people think they know what is best for beached whales?

people continually assume the whales don't know what they are doing when they beach and assume they need to be pushed back into the water! I find this arrogant and presumptuous- whales take up a lot of space in the ocean and likely mass suicide is a control method they use more often now whaling isn't as prevalent - so why do people think they must interfere???

  • Is it right for banks to take the monthly fees a day before they are due?

This sort of thing makes me mad - I knew how much I had in the bank so when I checked I was surprised to see it much less - looking closer the fees (not due until tomorrow were gone! This might seem insignificant to them but to me it threw my whole plans out for today! Anyone else find this is happening?

  • Anyone know what to do with kids who dumb down in order to have more friends?

two of my children are constantly 'dumbing down' so as to be more on a level with the children at their new school, small town no options in schooling unless home school and I don't like that - how do I encourage them to be themselves and not fall into the trap of caring more about their friends opinions?

One of my girls was a walking dictionary a year ago, now she is using limited vocab and much profanity!

One was very inquisitive into collecting rocks and asking questions, now all she wants to discuss is hair and sport(big on footy here). What can I do - I liked them better before!

  • Alien message 'may be in our DNA'?

Professor Paul Davies, from the Australian Centre for Astrobiology at Macquarie University in Sydney, believes a cosmic greeting card could have been left in every human cell.

The coded message would only be discovered once the human race had the technology to read and understand it.

Writing in New Scientist magazine, Davies said the idea should be considered seriously.

For more than 40 years astronomers have been sweeping the skies with radio telescopes hoping to catch a signal from an alien civilisation.

So far the search has been in vain. But Davies believes it is wrong to assume that extraterrestrials who may be hundreds of millions of years ahead of us technologically will have chosen to communicate by radio.

Leaving artefacts for humans to find once they are sufficiently evolved -- like the obelisk in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey -- might be a more attractive strategy, he said.

But ensuring the survival of such an artefact over possibly millions of years would be difficult.

A better solution would be to incorporate information into the human genome, allowing it to be copied and maintained over immense periods of time. One way to do this might be to deliver alien viruses which could infect cells with message-laden DNA, said Davies.

Scientists have recently discovered large sequences of "junk" DNA that contain no genes and appears to be very stable.

"If ET has put a message into terrestrial organisms, this is surely where to look," said Davies.

A computer could be used to find obvious attention-grabbing patterns within these stretches of DNA, he said. If a sequence of junk units of DNA were displayed as an array of pixels on a screen and produced a simple image "the presumption of tampering would be inescapable".

The DNA code was easily big enough to contain a decent-sized novel or a potted history of the rise and fall of an alien civilisation.

Davies added: "Trying to second-guess alien communication strategies is fraught with uncertainty, so we should try everything we can afford. The truth may be out there somewhere. Or it could be a lot closer to home."

Paul Davies, Arizona State University is an associate member of the Australian Centre for Astrobiology at the UNSW

I know this is probably not so new to others who have been here longer being as this is info from 2004 but I found it intriguing.

The question being how many of us believe this to be possible?

  • Is this 'white supremacist mentality condoned in America?

How in this day and age do Americans tolerate such as these jerks?

    (from news report)

US authorities have arrested two white supremacists for threatening to kill Democrat Barack Obama as part of a "killing spree" of African-Americans, court records released show.

The men, Daniel Cowart, 20, and Paul Schlesselman 18, have been charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.

They were arrested last Wednesday in Tennessee, the documents from the Memphis court showed.

The men discussed a "killing spree to include targeting a predominantly African-American school ... they further stated that their final act of violence would be to attempt to kill/assassinate presidential candidate Barack Obama", Brian Weaks, an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told the court.

Federal agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.

  • Why are Americans so far behind the rest of the world spiritually speaking?

and why are they so living in the dark ages with their attitudes to homosexuality - I thought this was no longer a relevant topic in most parts of the world - could it be something to do with the dumbing down implemented by their government?

  • Rudd giving money to all! Best Idea ever?

Finally the Government has realised the low incomers need a bit more money! And handing out these thousands to individuals(billions over all) before Christmas is a great way to stimulate spending at that time rather than see people put more on their cards! I am glad I live in Australia! I think it is a great idea even though I could think of one or two more to add to his list such as some sort of loan repayment deferral scheme for those struggling with mortgages not just doubling the first home buyers assistance - anyone else think of some great ideas he could have come up with?

  • Why on earth do Americans ?

think the rest of the world looks up to them, I heard this on INSIGHT and it made me furious. Are they brainwashed into believing they are better than others or what? If anything they should be looking up to us!

  • What does everyone feel is behind all the nelected children in Australia recently?

This growing undesirable trend must have a lowest common denominator. What could it be? Are these parents putting themselves first and forgetting they have children? Drugs? Poverty? What? Babies just should not die from malnutrition in this day and age in Austalia!

  • Is my Doctor trying to kill me?? 4x usual dose erythromycim and fluconazole?

also given micardis (telmisartan) and spiriva - question is the dosage of the erythromycin seems too high and I have read that fluconazole is a bad companion and can cause death when combined with erythromycin? The report I read was from 2004 perhaps there is more recent? I am having severe stomach trouble from the antibiotic is this due to excessive dose two 250mg four times a day? Should I just trust the doctor and follow orders without question?
