I’m a 23-year-old student in college, with aspirations for world domination and delusions of grandeur. My main studies are in psychology and film, with electives focusing in media, various sciences, and philosophy. My political stance puts me somewhere between anarchist and democratic socialist, though either way I do insist altruism. My religious views are null and void. Or perhaps atheist agnostic is a better description. I’m a vegetarian. I don’t care for nearly any sports, except soccer. I can professionally decorate a cake. I have multiple bookcases which are constantly overflowing with books, another bookcase filled with films, and a third filled with music. I play World of Warcraft and games on Xbox Live, such as Modern Warfare 2, though I rarely have the time. I have a cat named Nikolai and a pup named Odin. I love to argue and debate. I will help you if I can. E Pluribus Unum http://saintvengeance.wordpress.com
Canon EOS Rebel T3i or T2i?
I'm currently looking for a DSLR that is a good balance of quality and price. I've come down to either the Canon EOS Rebel T3i or T2i, and I'm not sure of the specific differences. Question is, which is the better choice, or should I go in a different direction completely? Aside from still photography, I'm also looking for which records better video. Thanks.
4 AnswersCameras10 years agoFor those who believe homosexual marriage to be wrong for religious reasons, why should it be banned?
I'm speaking mostly of a perspective from the United States here, but why should it be banned for religious reasons? Do we not have freedom of religion? Do atheists never get married?
If you want to give some bogus scientific reasons, then you haven't answered the question and are wasting my time.
If you refuse to respond in regards to the religious freedom in the US, then you have not fully answered the question and are wasting my time.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat do you believe would convince you that your perspectives on god(s)/religion/spirituality are mistaken?
I am an agnostic atheist. That means I don't believe in gods, and I don't insist to have some objective knowledge of the subject. I'll give my answer to the question at the end...
What I am asking here, both of believers and other nonbelievers, is of what they believe would truly convince them that their current perspective is incorrect. I'm not trying to choose sides here, but I just want to see the answers that would be given. Please, be as logical as possible and try to take it seriously. You can answer in respect to the question of the existence of god alone, but I'd also appreciate it if you referred to changing spiritual/religious beliefs as well.
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf Satan is supposedly the "Great Deceiver," then is it arrogant to assume that you couldn't have been tricked?
I'm talking about the Abrahamic believers out there. Their god supposedly influenced their holy works, yet even those works mention a deceiver of practically unfathomable ability. If he is such a fantastic deceiver, would he not understand how easy it is to deceive man through their own religions? Many insist that this antithesis of order must have influenced other religious beliefs, but also insist that their religion is untouched. Why? Is it so hard to believe that the supposedly grandest mastermind of trickery could not influence a "holy text" meant to directly influenced them?

Really, I'm more interested in the opinions out there, as I obviously do not believe in such things. I'd at very least like to know why some of you out there think it is so valid to insist that you could not be wrong. And no, I did not write that blog.
Don't post insults, prayers, or Bible verses and expect me to accept them as valid responses. I'm not meaning at all to insult in the question, so at least try to show respect in your answers.
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoPROOF?!?!?!!!! I want it. So give it me. (Pretty please?)?
Also, if you want to give an answer to my question concerning the relationship between religion and gay marriage, please do.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat about gay marriage is a religious issue, eh?
First off, please toss your personal homophobia to the side, assuming you have any. I don't want to hear any ignorance relating to blatant gay bashing in here. On to the question...
Oh, and I'm mainly speaking to those here in the US...
----
How exactly is gay marriage a religious issue?
People disagree over religion, and that's nothing new. If marriage is a religious issue at all, then why do you not protest that followers of other religions can already be married? Or that atheists, agnostics, deists, pantheists, and etc. can all be married?
Also, it's rather simple to note that many GLBT people are in fact religious as well. All of the Abrahamic faiths, for example, have members of their populace who are homosexual, and some have even been lucky enough to find churches (and their variants) who openly accept homosexuality as natural.
Is it simply seen as tainting your religion if the homosexual couples could marry and still be allowed to claim their beliefs are of a variety of your own religion? If so then, again, why do you tolerate any differing religious perspective? At what point is another's religious interpretation no longer as valid as your own?
Is the issue a fear that somehow the homosexuals could force your church to marry them or something? If your church really expresses such dislike for homosexuality, I doubt the couples would bother to try to be married there.
Essentially, is it a religious issue at all, as far as society is concerned? Or does it come down to being only a personal religious dispute? Who gets to claim the right to enforce their perspective upon others?
PS - If I've somehow ranted or repeated myself too much, I apologize. Any typos, I'll revise later. I will now go to bed and get some sleep...
