  • Is my mother in law a problem?

Our daughter is entering Kindergarten. Her grandmother dropped her work schedule to 2 days a week so that she can get Adrianna on and off the bus. This sounds like a blessing... just read on. So we arranged with the school district to have that happen. We are about 2 weeks away from the start of the school year. I haven't recieved anything fromt he school district. But apparently my mother in law has. She decided to take our daughter over night last night, for me to find out late last night it was because she had a school orientation today. Me, the mother, and her father, knew nothing about it until last night!!?!!? So I brushed it off and let her take her... but now im starting to see a partern. If it involves Adrianna we the parents are not on her need to know basis. She even took our daughter to a Physical I didn't know what scheduled until the doctors office called me to confirm it!?! During our daughters PreK year, I also noticed how things were being omitted, or truths were being stressed between the teacher(s) and my mother in law. Is something going on more than what we are thinking, or are we over-reacting? She wont take our son for long periods of time, but our daughter can spend a crap load of time with her.

  • would you buy a cursed car?

My car is cursed its a 98 Cavalier LS. It's gold, and has power windows and locks, keyless entry. It only has 43,000 miles. Its cursed, we've put atleast $2000 into over the three years I've owned it. In the last year its been a magnet for disaster, all minor. But I had tree branches fall on it 3 times, first the hood, then the windshield, and finally the door. My fiance backed it into the light post, and then slipped on ice and wacked his elbow on the fendor. My sister backed into the side of it. A table on wheels caught wind and took my antenna clean off and cracked my bumper. I have misc scratches and dents on it from what I have no idea?!! Then the straw that broke this camels back. My fiance didn't put the parking brake on in the truck while he was towing the boat, he got out to talk to me in my car behind him and the boat and truck rolled back and the skeg of the motor took out my headlight and hopped on my hood causing minor damage to my less than a year redone hood!

  • Is this bad luck, or just no luck at all... vacation from hell?

My in-laws (Mother, father, sister and brother in law) and grandparents in law went on vacation with my husband, myself and our two kids. My husbands younger cousins and their friend came with us. His parents rented a cottage on a local lake. I know this probably is going to look like the vacation from hell with the in laws...but the in laws weren't really my dilema for the week...

    Bad luck begins..

Sunday Night- First night of vacation, my mother in law tries to call me out on something. Of course she had already had 3 rum and cokes, and my father in law was working that night. I told her I didn't appreciate her talking to me like that. Eventually it cascaded into everyone not wanting her there.

Monday Afternoon- my landlord the previous week out of the blue decided to sell the house. We live in a house converted into two units. Both of us are on a month to month. We are looking for more space and she is looking for something smaller just for the two of them. So monday they schedule a walk through. So we drove back from out vacation straightened up a little. We were waiting on the boat to be finished so we could tow it down. Which monday night it was. So we brought it back to our house. My husband decided to check the transmission lines on the truck since it was leaking fluid. He takes the truck off the jacks and it just rolls on backwards. He runs and pushes on it. Found out the gears jumped over one. So now... there is no park... its reverse, reverse is neutral, neutral is drive, and do on. Great... so a storm rolled through we decided to stay home and venture out tuesday.

Tuesday Afternoon- we were all set to go, just remember to put it in neutral and throw on the parking brake. I took a seperate car behind him and the truck because of the amount of stuff we already brought down our first trip and what we were talking down this one. We made it all the way back to the town and went to the boat launch. My husband got out of his truck to talk to me, and well... forgot the e-brake. Well if you can guess what happened... you got it right... the truck and boat came rolling at my car. In obviously my most achieving attempt to avoid being hit by the moving object I put my car in reverse... but I didn't move... my car lagged in its reversal. My husband stopped the truck, and well I backed out and slumped over the steering wheel. I just watched a 35 HP motor we just spend $300 in prepping for this trip come crashing into my vehicle. Suddenly this trip has become a little more expensive. Not to mention if you ask anyone that knows my car... its a magnet for disaster, and I can actually say this was the first time I was in the vehicle when it was hit.

Needless to say we got the boat in the water and it ran nicely.

Wednesday- The first real uneventful day out of them all.

Thursday- My husbands mother was at it again. So my husband was upset with her but taking it out on me. I left for 3 hours. When I came back his grandmother said that he went for a trip in the boat looking for me... yah... right... Men and engines...

Friday- My daughter and her great grandfathers birthday. There were 30 people in this one bathroom three bedroom cottage... need I say more... I think not...

by saturday, I got my first ever sun burn... before my son was born I would tan vary easily after my son, I get hives from the sun....

So tired, cranky, sore, battered and sun burned... was this bad luck, no luck or just simply the vacation from hell... and I just need another one?

  • Landlord, not active listing on property for sale, walk through?

Long Story Short, Landlord calls Tuesday said will pick rent up Friday when downstairs tenant comes back from vacation, said that he has someone that wants to see the property that night at 7:30. That is only 4 hours away. Upstairs tenant leave voicemail for landlord, ok for rent, but not comfortable with the short window for a walk through since house is not actively listed For Sale. Landlord calls back leaves 2 messages stating that they house is NOT actively listed for sale, and that it was ok to wait. Second message stated will do Friday instead. Friday comes and a realtor calls both tenants and says they want to schedule it for Monday. Problem- Upstairs tenant is on vacation for a week and will not be home. Not comfortable with having someone walk through when no one is home. Friday comes, Landlord doesn't show up, doesn't pick up rent, and downstairs tenant is still not back even though they were scheduled to be back earlier in the day. What can they do? Is there any legal binding that can prohibit them from doing the walk through when no one is home?

  • Why all the flies... they seem to multiply?

I am a little confused as to where my Flies are coming from. Yesterday we had two of them... we were unsuccessful at taking them out. Tonight... after dark with the lights on 20 of these damn things have made their way out. I'd get rid of the ones I have, chasing them with sticky fly killer tape, and traping them on it. Then 10 minutes later there will be a couple more? Where are they coming from. We did our clean sweep two days ago, scrubbing everything down and getting rid of the things that we no longer need that were cluttering up the house.. but why do they multiply? There are no windows with gaps, they are all air tight, and we have window air conditioners that are usually always running.

  • Repairing 1956 Merc 300 35HP Outboard Motor for boat. Please read on further.?

We have a 1964 14' Steury Fishing boat, nicknamed "the minow"... minow's primary source of power a 1956 Mercury 300 35HP Outboard, is out of commision. So I need to know what we can do to fix it or where I can go about getting parts. Please read further, as to why we would like to fix it.

    1. Boat and Motor was bought in 2002, the previous owner had the motor reconditioned the year before. We put it on the water and it ran Beautifully that summer.

    2. In 2003, we put the boat on the water, after doing a test run start. It ran perfectly fine. Drove it about 100 yards, the motor cut out, and black smoke billowed from it. We immediately stopped using the motor and boat since.

    3. The boat has been sitting outdoors since then. Last year my dad noticed the prop was detatched from the rest of the unit, just 'hanging'. He removed it and not sure where he put it.

    4. We are looking to get the boat up and running for a trip August 9th. My mechanic husband and his dad (who repairs mowers and motors on the side) are going to attempt to fix it.

We are trying to avoid the costly purchase of a new motor, since this one is good except for the bottom unit. I am awaiting a response from a local repair shop for marine boats. But I would like insite from the community if they know anything about this particually brand motor.

  • Giving up a child for adoption to a friend?

After my son was born. A friend of mine and her fiance (whom I've known for years) said they wanted a child. He was in a mind set that he never wanted kids. Hes in his 40's and my friend is in her 20s (don't judge because they are the most intuitive couple I know). He had a vasectomy 10 years ago way before he met my female friend. So they looked into the cost of a reversal, and the cost of invetro (just incase they could extract the sperm instead of trying to concieve after a reversal). So after my son was born, my female friend jokingly said that I would have a baby for her. I told her, I would for the meer fact that both of them deserve a baby, and apparently me and my husband are very fertile. So I've made it my personal goal, if we do get pregnant again, that that baby is going to my friends. But my Hubby is impartial to the idea. We already have two kids and he said that he didn't want anymore... atleast for a long time.

However, how many of you would give up a child to someone close to you because they couldn't have one?

  • 98 Dodge Dakota SLT - rebuilt tranny - need help trouble shooting codes... please read.?

    1998 Dodge Dakota SLT V6 4x2 with a 42re transmission rebuilt.

Master Rebuild on the transmission, new fluids, battery, brakes, dipstick tube, stab link, y pipe on the exhaust, etc.

After first test drive, check engine light came on, would not accelerate over 30 MPH, and had no power. Codes Read P132, P138 (O2 Sensor Voltage) and P1762 (Manufacturers code) Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage. Cleared codes.

Test drove again, light came back on, read the code came back as P132 O2 Sensor, that was it. So we pulled the O2 Sensor out, and it did have damaged wiring.

So we replaced the O2 Sensors and test drove it again. Light immediately came on. Truck again had no power, or acceleration. Single code came back as P1762 again.

RPM's idle high. When accelerator is engaged the RPMS go over 2000 and takes about 7 seconds to idle back down to about 7-900 RPM's. You can see the lack of power.
