  • How to prepare for college prep private school?

    Hello [:

I'm currently a seventh grader at a public elementary & middle school with almost 200 kids in the seventh grade. I decided to go to a Catholic college prep high school that is 45 minutes away from my current school. 10 of my family members attended this school so that adds to my chances GREATLY of getting in.

I was just wondering how I could prepare now of getting into higher level classes. These are my grades currently:

    English (advanced) - A (96%)

    Math - A- (92%)

    Science - A (96%)

    World Geography - A+ (98%)

    Spanish - A (94%)

I know I've got to focus a lot in math, because I want to make sure I get into at least Algebra I or Geometry. This school focuses a lot on community service and discovering God. I haven't been very religious in my life so far. I don't really go to church very often, and I've never gone to CCD. I was wondering what I could do to prepare myself for their challenging curriculum? Also, what will stand out to the admissions office? I play sports, too. I'm worried I will get there and be overwhelmed by the challenges.

Also, any advice on private schools? Such as making new friends? I'll be moving to where the school is, so seeing my old friends often will be hard.

  • Friend Help, Please? She's making me feel like a bad person?

Me and my (I'm not sure what to call her right now, we'll just call her friend) friend were extremely close since 5th grade, (now going into 9th) +we were just like sisters. I could tell her everything, she could tell me everything. We were basically inseparable. Then she became best friends with another girl, we'll call her Megan. Megan and my friend became almost as close as me and her were - and I didn't really get jealous or care that much. But Megan and my friend got into a lot of fights, and whenever they did, I'd always be here for her. (Let's just say, that they've had about 11 fights, every time it resulted in ignoring each other then apologizing and becoming even closer, and now they have just faded into nothingness basically) Then I started to get very close to my best friend, Katie. We are basically what me and my friend used to be. And my friend was getting jealous - very, very jealous - and she told me when she was. But at this time, me and my friend had faded a bit but we were still very close, so I didn't understand this action of hers.. I apologized and just said that I'd try to pay attention to her more. My friend (we can call her BB now) has changed a lot, and now all she talks about is guys, and makes me feel bad about being best friends with Katie.

So basically, BB has been making me feel horrible, then apologizing, then making me feel bad, then apologizing, and I'm getting sick of it. I told her I was done with her, and that she was just making me feel like I was a lousy friend. She left me a long instant message saying she was sorry and she feels like a piece of her heart is missing.. But I'm not sure if I want her back after she put me through all that. I'm just really confused right now, because she's already been through a lot (people tease her, and her parents fight often) and I don't want to make matters worse. But I still care about her lots, but I'm not sure if I want a friend who second-guesses our relationship.

(Sorry for length), But what do you guys think I should do?

Another second chance, or should I just let her go and see how it goes from there?

  • Summer Vacation, Boyfriend Help?

Last night I went to the movies with my boyfriend (we're now going into 8th grade) and he's like my best friend. Unfortunatley, I am going away on this coming Monday to New Hampshire for a week (we live in VT). I told him that I'd be away, and he got really depressed. Now I know this kid pretty well, so it wasn't a fake depressed. He kept looking into my eyes and saying how he won't be able to make in two weeks without seeing me (he's going away the week after), and how much fun this school year was, and how he never wanted it to end. He told me he was going to miss me like crazy - so I was just wondering how I could stay connected with him more? Not just texting/calling?

Also- I'm really upset about the end of the year. This year was the best, I got really close to some people and now we're all splitting up again to go to new classes. I don't mean this in a horrible way, but my boyfriend can be a flirt.. and he's not in my homeroom this year.. (we have 30 minutes of homeroom) is there some way I can prevent him from being over-flirty? Thanks!

  • Less portions to lose weight?

I'm a 13 year old girl and I weigh about 135. I've played sports all my life so I know I've got some muscle, and I'm also 5' 5" and my doctor says that is pretty tall for my age. I don't want to do anything drastic but I'd like to lose about 5-15 pounds, and I was wondering .. if I eat the same foods (I eat pretty healthy,) but just a smaller portion, or less of the foods, will I lose weight?

P.S, I just started lacrosse for the season and that should help too.

  • Why are some seeds closer to each other than others?

    Just being observant..

My mom had bought some strawberries and I was about to pick on up. But being observant me, (aha..) I saw that one strawberry had pretty spread out seeds (picture 1.) And the one next to it had seeds pretty close together (picture 2.) I'm not fond of strawberries so I have no idea why this is?

Tell me anything you know about why this happens?

    Thank you!

  • Slight Fear of Roller Coasters?

Me, my parents and my best friend are going to Florida in a little over 20 days. She is big into coasters and rides and I'm not. I'm not deathly afraid, I just get really nervous and my stomach gets bad butterflies. She wants me to go on the Rock N' Roller-coaster (sorry if I spelled it wrong) and I'm kinda really nervous, lol. I've been to Disney 4 times (my best friend has been 3 times) before and never gone on the "intense" rides. [I've been on Space Mountain, Test Track, Big Thunder, etc] I'm not saying I won't go them, but I was wondering if you had any ideas or suggestions so I wont be so nervous? Thanks (:

P.S. Your favorite Disney ride? So I make sure we go to the good ones.

  • Dog Question - Golden Retriever?

My 3 year old (4 in April) golden retriever female is really attached to my mom. I don't think she has separation anxiety because she is fine when she leaves for work. But when we brought her on a dog "play date" she wouldn't leave my mom's side. She cried (like whimpering), but she does that a lot (like when she's happy after we come home from a vacation, or when she has to go out). It just weirded my mom and I out, because she plays with other dogs at home. I don't think it's about the place, though, because she's been to where she had the play date before, about 5 times. It's not an "emergency" but we were just wondering if you had any ideas about how to get her to play with other dogs. Also, the dog we brought her to play with is a golden retriever too - they are sisters. Thanks :)

  • My 11 year old neighbor has bronchitis...?

I know for a fact his family doesn't smoke. I just wanted to know of some other causes that could have played into him getting it? He's been home sick for three days and luckily he has 2 vacation days this week. Anything could help. Thanks!
