Birdsong fills the Autumn air,

A leaf flutters by and lands just where

A miriade of flowers grew in colours of a rainbows` hue.

Now there is just a bonfire heap,

A pile of death where insects sleep,

A pile I had to cut and reap.

A job I hate, to put to sleep my garden.

It needs so much care and it is where

I do have time to stand and stare.

When tending my beloved plants

My mind in in a state of trance.

Mundane thoughts just disappear,

My mind is planning for next year

And vizualizing things to rear in

My garden.

Now borders will be dug and fed,

My new roses need a bed to rest in peace,

While we gardeners dread, the winter.

There`s not much fun in gales and rain,

And sodden ground is such a pain,

With snow and ice sure to come again in

My garden.

It`s best to sit down by the fire,

And plan ahead, past muck and mire

Forming pictures in my head of plants to buy in the months ahead.

The colours I want in every bed.

Oh I can`t wait, I need to be in?

I looked into a mirror and what did I see?

A knackered old lady looking at me.

Ne`er mind bells on her fingers and rings on her toes,

More like lines round the eyes and warts on the nose!

My mind is`nt old, so would be better for me

If I didn`t look then I wouldn`t see.

I could carry on thinking that I looked o.k,

But as with most females we`re not made that way.

We preen and we dye, we detox and slim,

We glue it and fix it a right state we`re in.

All to look lovely but to whose eyes?

Ours I suppose, and if we were wise........................

We would all realize that mirrors don`t lie,

And time really has passed us all by.

The lines a reminder of worries we`ve had,

Or far to much sun, or being to sad.

They are also called laughter lines, well,

You would not catch me ,

Laughing to much if that`s what I see.

Can we all grow old gracefully?

We can if we try,

But then it`s not long before we all die.

So what is the point? Enjoy your life `till,

The sun is out, but so cold,

The sky is white blue and so bright.

A gull silhouettes against it.

In an hour it will be night.

The sun and the moon together,

As one sinks the other will rise,

An opulent pearl in an ocean of black

And a scatter of stars makes the sky.

Calmness belies the chill,

The north breeze will bring us the frost,

It will glisten the ground like fine dust.

All thoughts of the summer are lost.

vintage sewing machine needles for a hand cranked "Harris-E" machine approx 1920`s. Ive looked on the web cant seem to find what I need, any Ideas. These are straight sided needles, not flat one side. Got any in your lofts?
