Indoctrination, geographical location, fear of death, lack of education, lack of intelligence?
How much do theses factors play into whether or not a person becomes religious?

Does education and intelligence cause many people to become less religious or non-religious?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoMany people agree, that some people are born gay?
And these people say... how can we mistreat people that were born gay. I argue, who cares if people were born gay or not. Let people choose to be gay or straight. If people choose love, and you discriminate against them, shame on you. I agree that people are born gay, but if someone actually chooses a gay lifestyle why the hell should you or I care, unless we are filled with hate. Let love Rule. Agree or Disagree?
5 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender8 years agoChristians, When you ask yourself why you don't believe in Hindu, Nordic, or Greek Gods...?
you should now fully understand why so many don't believe in your teachings. So do you get it?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIs it immoral to worship a God or Gods?
If a God or Gods wanted or condoned worship would this God be immoral?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoChristians, do you worship Hindu Gods?
Does this help you understand the mindset of people who don't worship Jesus?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoChristians, do you fear you will go to hell? Many Muslims think you are hell bound?
Does this help you understand the mindset of an atheist or agnostic who doesn't convert to Christianity?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoDoes religion divide us into groups that don't like each other or does it bring us together?
In the modern world, secular humanists and Buddhists prove that you don't need God to be good. Does religion help us or hurt us?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoDoes the story of Jesus make any sense at all in the modern world?
The belief that you must accept Jesus as your savior to go to heaven, makes little sense in a world that is only 1/3 Christian. The simple idea that 2/3 of the world is hell bound is utterly ridiculous and revolting at the same time. Agree or disagree?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoChristians, Why don't you believe in Hindu Teachings?
Do you fully understand why I don't believe in Christian, Muslim, or Hindu teachings?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoI support Jessica Ahlquist, Atheist, theists, everyone, please explain?
why or why not a prayer should be posted in a public school wall. The prayer on a public school was considered unconstitutional by a judge and taken down, even though so many in RI wanted it to stay up. I imagine if the prayer had been Hinudu or Muslim or atheistic teachings, the same people who wanted it to stay up would be protesting against it. Give me your best reasons for or against the prayer.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoAtheists, Would you like a God to exist?
I'm an atheist and I would love have proof of God's existence. I know if God were proven we would all believe in the same God. I think Christians, think atheists are against God, not me, just don't have any proof. But I'm interested, not in worship, but in learning. I would love to know the mysteries of how this world came to be. This thinking helps me understands what religious folk are thinking. They want answers too and are willing to accept supernatural answers from ancient texts. I'm entrenched in the modern world, so I will wait for real answers, but most likely won't get any.
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoWhy do so many people confuse morality with religious affiliation or belief in God?
Moral people come in all religions and with no religion. Many moralistic people are not religious, many are atheistic. People who understand human suffering and refuse to subject others to suffer are moralistic. Their religion does not matter, their belief system is in consequential. Their actions matter. Their actions must be loving and without malice.
Agree or Disagree?
Honoring Commandments based on ancient beliefs (some far fetched), honor the sabbath day, don't covet neighbors' goods does not make for morality.
Believing your God is divine to gain entrance to heaven appears immoral in every sense. Immoral for worshiping a God who demands belief in his divinity. This God is immoral. Your thoughts?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years agoAtheists, Is Christmas in the United States changing? Becoming more and more secular?
Quite a few years back Christmas seemed like a celebration of the birth of Jesus. I'm an atheist, and since Christianity makes little sense, the religious component of Christmas cheapened the holiday for me, and made it seem unimportant. But now, with so many Asians, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists, and non religious people celebrating Christmas as a secular American holiday, Christmas seems like a holiday for everyone. Put up your tree, give gifts, sing a song, drink some eggnog, have some snacks, tell everyone how much you love them and go home. I don't even hear Jesus mentioned, not on television, not at work, not in public places. I''m loving Christmas. Anyone else agree? Happy Christmas, secular people, It appears the holiday belongs to all of us now!
5 AnswersChristmas1 decade agoChristians, God or your family? Who do you love more?
If you answer God, how does your family feel about this? My family comes first!!!
Most atheists, like me, love YOU, yes you, more than any God or Gods? I really care about you. I care so much about you, that I would put your needs before the needs of any all powerful God. And I wouldn't worship any God who would condemn you to hell. Your thoughts.
34 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAtheists, Moderate Christians, Former Christians, people of other faiths, please speak up?
and gently tell fundies, the stories in the Bible that make no or little sense. Pick a different story and we can make a little book, called Totally Unbelievable Stories.
I will simply start with Adam and Eve. When you're seven years old in Sunday school, and you hear the tale, and get to part with the talking snake, you wonder if the Sunday school teacher is insane or drunk. No offense Sunday School teachers, but this is one insane tale.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoSanta vs Jesus, which story is better for the kiddies?
Which story is better to share with children in the modern world.
A fat old elf gives gifts to good boys and girls who happen to be Christian, he ignores all the others.
Or
A 2000 year old God was born when God took advantage of a virgin, while on earth he did some magic tricks and kinds deeds and then was sacrificed by his father and put to death for your sins, after he died he came back to life then went to join God the father in
heaven above, so now you and all other believers can go to heaven, but all others no matter how kind get hell.
So seriously, which story is better to share with the kiddies?
12 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoChristians, Let's be honest, what is more important to you you relationship with God?
or your relationships with the people you love. Let's be honest, if someone told you their relationship with Zeus was more important than their friends and family, wouldn't you be a little concerned. What if they loved the Sun God or Zoroster or the Hindu Gods? Aren't you feeling a little sad and concerned for their loved ones. I'm an atheist, and I am fully focused on the people in my life and they know it and they appreciate it. And if an all loving, all powerful God does exist, he/she appreciates it too! Only an immoral God would be concerned with worship.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWould an all powerful and all loving God create a system of eternal reward or?
eternal punishment? Would this God reward or punish based on how well you worship and love him?
Will future humans find this religious view sad or revolting? Quite a few questions here, but religion in 2009 is fixated on ancient texts and stories, that don't hold up in the modern world. Looking for thoughts, rather than simplistic beliefs and archaic quotes. Any takers?
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoEvangelical Christians, Explain why it is more important to worship your version of God?
than it is to help others, love others, and promote kindness. Is there any other reason other than your irrational fear of hell. If your God requires worship to go, then you should all bond together to tell God when you get to heaven, this behavior is immoral. Speak up for what is right, the behavior of the God you believe in unacceptable in the modern world. Only all inclusive kind Gods, all loving Gods deserve appreciation, but never worship. No creator deserves worship. Your acceptance of a God who requires worship is at best not appreciated and at worst, revolting.
