  • Classic rock: best unknown songs by popular bands?

Everybody knows Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Dy'er Maker, Kashmir, etc by Led Zeppelin, everybody knows Hot for Teacher, Runnin' with the Devil, Jump, etc by Van Halen, blah blah. I'm only 18, I missed that whole era of music, I've never listened to any of those albums all the way through. Most of what I've heard is what you hear on the radio. My question is, what are THREE lesser known/no longer popular great songs each by Van Halen (with DLR, not Hagar), Zeppelin, and ZZ Top? Name as many as you can.

My favorite Zeppelin song, Nobody's Fault But Mine, is never on the radio. It has one of my favorite riffs ever though :D (+ the harmonica) and my favorite Van Halen song is Ice Cream Man. Such a great song. Also never on the radio. This is why I'm curious.

BQ: three lesser known songs with great guitar solos by Van Halen and Led Zeppelin?

I think the polls around here lately suck. Why is that? Are my little muffincakes running out of clever and original polls?

  • Two questions about Inglorious Basterds?

First of all, it was a great movie. It wasn't really as funny as I was expecting (I was expecting a straight up comedy) but it still had some really funny parts. Christoph Waltz did an UNBELIEVABLE job of playing Hans Landa. I never thought of him as an actor, and I was expecting to be comparing him to the guy he played in Django, which never happened. I rarely see somebody immerse himself in a role so well. Brad Pitt also did a phenomenal job, and I'm not a fan of his at all. The farmer in the beginning, and the Jewish girl who survived and ran the theater later also did fantastic jobs acting.

With that said, I've heard that Hans Landa was incredibly difficult to play and that the bar standoff scene was one of the best in the history of movies. I don't really get the hype. Like I said, Hans was played brilliantly by Christoph Waltz, and he was an interesting, smart character, but what made it so difficult to play him?

And the bar standoff scene wasn't really anything too special to me either. Three dudes with their pistols pointed at each other's nuts talking about how the situation would work... Did I miss something? What made it great? I think the part beginning with Hans Landa speaking in Italian to Aldo and ending with him strangling the actress, and the opening scene at the dairy farm were the best parts of the movie. Thanks.

  • Post-hardcore/metalcore bands: who's popular?

Haven't been into this genre for like... six months at least, who's popular now? When I started listening to other stuff the new really popular band of the genre was Asking Alexandria and they still seem to be pretty much the most popular... I know all the older bands like TWP, ADTR, BFMV, etc, and some newer popular ones like Woe, Is Me, Motionless in White, Of Mice and Men, bands that have only been popular a year or two... So, what are new ones that are good? I prefer less screaming usually, the exceptions are AA, MIW, and OM&M (Danny, Chris, and Austin are all frickin amazing) bands like Jamie's Elsewhere, Woe, Is Me (before Tyler left) and Alesana are good... So, anyone got any for me?

  • Question for people who believe in evolution?

First of all, I'm a Christian. I believe in creation and God and that Jesus was sent as the ultimate sacrifice to die for my sin and that he was raised from the dead after three days and later ascended into heaven. I know that to Atheists this is idiotic drivel and you'd love to make fun of me and tell me how someday I'll regret believing a stupid book of child's fairy tales just to make me less afraid of dying, and it kept me from really living at all because I had to follow all these stupid rules in it. That's your opinion and I disagree with it, obviously, but oh well.

Now, I'm going to keep an open mind. I realize that the idea of creation is stupidity to you, however, evolution is just as stupid to me. *you frantically start typing about how I need to educate myself* First, I don't understand why you bash creation and tell me all these "facts" about evolution which are nothing more than theory. Basically, what evolutionists believe is that billions of years ago, there was a huge explosion (how was there anything to cause an explosion? Do you believe that the universe is infinitely old? If it is, and the process of evolution takes only millions of years, how is it possible there still so few humans, yet we reproduce so rapidly, and nothing further evolved yet, and how have we not depleted all food resources? If the earth isn't infinitely old, then somewhere in the beginning, someone or something MUST have created the universe... Or at least the elements to create an explosion or even just a CELL, correct?) and that explosion somehow made the earth, over time or instantly, irrelevant which you believe. Now, we have a world to live in; again, where did that first cell that began the evolutionary process originate from? And now that it's realized that it has no way to derive nutrition and it needs to evolve, it begins to slowly (over many years, of course) develop a way to get oxygen and nutrients or whatever it needed, and eventually dies. Now what? It died before it could evolve into something with a reproductive system, correct? That would take quite a while to generate, especially without any way to get nutrients or energy to even move, no? So it died, remember it hasn't had time to make a reproductive system, so now, even in the unfathomable chance that another life form could somehow appear, another cell appears. Back to the beginning. Same result. No progress made. Let's just say that over 234,827,598,274,598,257,928,457,298,347,234 years, finally two cells magically were, not created, but appeared, or whatever you believe, with reproductive systems. This would allow them to slowly over time progress together while reproducing as they evolved.

That's enough to get started on, if I still have questions after that's all explained I'll start another thing. My next question is one that I'm sure you're used to answering; why is it that we've only just came up with the theory of evolution just 150 years ago or so? Wouldn't it have been obvious if it were true long before that? Please don't mock or call me names or troll me, I genuinely want to learn about your beliefs. Thanks for taking the time to read and answer.

  • I need some cute date ideas...?

I'm 18, she's 17. We've never really gone on a real date before, and I want the first one to be very special, not just like out to the movies then out to eat and home. I just want her to think it's adorable whatever it is but I can't really think of anything.

  • Athiests, Religious People, and Trolls: did you know...?

That you're accomplishing absolutely nothing by trying to convert people who already have established firm beliefs, even if it's idiotic garbage? If you have a family tree that shows your great x52 grandfather was a monkey, you're not going to convince a Christian to believe evolution. If a Christian has pics of Jesus, you're not going to convince Atheists that a God exists. Just stop trying. If someone is curious about what you believe and actually wants to know something, then share your beliefs. Don't force anything on anyone though, you're just helping them convince themselves even more that they are right and you're an idiot.

Now. What's everyone's favorite kind of candy? ^_^

  • what are your top 5 scariest movies?

Don't need to be in any order, just list 5 of the scariest you know of. Preferably not zombie or monster movies, more psychological or suspenseful like the ring. I guess it doesn't really matter though.

  • For all girls in highschool/jr high?

What do you think about the kids that keep their "dirt staches"? Like they can't grow full facial hair so they just have nasty hair that looks like eyebrows kinda where there should be a mustache and sideburns? I think it's gross and stupid as hell but there are some kids that think girls love it. But I wanna know what you think :)
