  • Can't download 9.1.A.0.489 update on Sony Xperia T ?

I've had my phone for just under a week, and I've been told this is an important update to download (mentions Jellybean?). I have both WiFi and 3G turned on and the item downloads, but when it completes I get a "Could not download" message? Anyone know why this is happening and how I can get this download? I've not seen any interruption or error during the download process

  • I can't log into Hotmail?

I can't log in either via Hotmail.com, or Windows Live Mail. When I try and load their website, I get an error message saying:

Something went wrong and we can't sign you in at the moment. Please try again later.

When I try and load up Windows Live Mail, I get a pop-up error saying my emails could not be received from this account, It's been doing this since 10am and I've so far used Google Chrome and Internet Explorer to try and load this website. It's not affecting everyone so what the hell am I doing wrong?

  • My skin has been lightly damaged by caustic soda - should I do anything further?

My right hand accidentally encountered caustic soda when unblocking a drain. I've not experienced any pain or swelling, but today I am noticing a very light layer of skin is peeling off my right hand. I can only really describe it as the peeling that your skin does when you get sunburn. It's not painful at all, and I'm keeping my hand moistured in hand cream so my skin doesn't dry out. Should I do anything further?

  • How long should I wait until I dye my hair?

I have regularly used Schwarzkopf Live XXL for years to dye my hair red. However, due to the colour build-up this is starting to darken quite a bit, and the red isn't as distinctive anymore.

I've now found a dye that is specifically designed for turning dark brown hair a vibrant red, and dark brown is my natural colour. Therefore, I am in the process of removing my previous dye so I can re-dye properly.

My question is - how long should I leave after washing this "colour remover" out before I dye my hair the intended red? I am on a bit of a restricted timescale but I don't want to take the risk of possibly damaging my hair quite a bit.

  • How do I stop Consumer Lifestyle Cold Calls?

    UK Question

We moved into a property in April 2009 and registered with Sky's telephone service. The number we were given we asked to be ex-directory and, for the first few years, everything was fine.

However, in the last 6 months we have been getting 2-3 calls every day from a company called Consumer Lifestyle. They ask for a person I do not know (I am guessing she used to own this telephone number) and even goes as far as refusing to believe I am not this person to begin with. They always call from an "Out of Area" number which I can't trace, and so I cannot call them and ask they stop calling me. Today's example was the worst:

I answered the phone and spoke to an Indian gentleman who once again asked to speak to this person - I informed him I was not her and advised I was TPS registered. However, he advised me that he was not calling to sell me a product or service, and that he was calling from Consumer Lifestyles as part of a telephone survey. He also gave me this woman's full postal address (Data Protection breach?) despite knowing I am not her. Eventually, he understood I was not this person but then told me he "needed" my home address and name - I refused to give this.

He continued to talk about how he was from Consumer Lifestyle (Yeah, I get that) and he needs my personal details. I advised him several times that I do not authorise him to call me at all and asked I be taken off of their database (I've asked this before, doesn't seem to work). After refusing to give him my postal address for the second time he eventually hung up.

I am TPS registered - although I have spotted this loophole which allows them to call me. It would appear that, when this number was owned by the previous person, the telephone number was subscribed to some mailing list and has since been branched out. However, surely if I took over this number in 2009 doesn't the right to distribute this number go to me?

Long story short, I am fed up of people asking to speak to this person - she has never lived at this address and I have no idea who she is. When I took over this number I specifically asked to be ex-directory and ensured that my number is not given out to any third party companies (if I have to provide it). Is there ANYTHING I can do to stop them from calling me?

  • Having problems installing Windows Service Pack 1?

I am running a Windows Vista home PC that has recently been restored to factory settings. I have Kaspersky anti-virus installed but unfortunately I don't know the specs of this PC.

However, I am trying to install Windows Service Pack 1 and Windows Update is not allowing me. It first of all displayed #Error 80070002 which, according to Microsoft Help, advised I remove all files and folders from the WINDOWS>SoftwareDistribution>DataStore folder and the WINDOWS>SoftwareDistribution>Download folder and try again - which I removed successfully.

Now I've tried again, and I am getting #Error 80248007 instead which isn't even listed on the Microsoft Help section. The Microsoft website advises to either delete or rename the SoftwareDistribution folder but, whenever I try either of these actions I am advised that I cannot (either by a message saying this is running in another programme or what I am denied access).

I have administrative privileges on my computer and I know I have been able to install Service Pack 1 in the past. Can anyone help/assist/suggest anything to get this service pack installed?

  • Why is my cat urinating so often?

I have a male, ginger, long-haired 2 1/2 year old cat (neutered) who has, since this morning, started urinating more frequently than normal. He is an indoor cat with no access to outdoor cats and:

Of good general health, he was a rescue with a flea-problem that he is still getting over, he is definitely weeing and has done so about a dozen times in the last hour. Behaviour is fine, drinking/eating normal, no yowling when he wees (as I speak he's currently nomming on the same dry, complete food he's been eating since we got him).

He has constant access to water, eats GoKat indoor adult complete dry food with occasional treats of milk and tuna (hasn't had any today). He lives with 2 spayed females and 1 neutred male that he gets along with very well and I've also checked his genital area for any inflammation/blockage and can't find any.

I'm not an expert, but I've volunteered with vets before so I do know some signs of a urinary tract infection. As I can't find any I've phoned the 24 hour vet line who are also confused. He is going to be booked in for a check tomorrow just in case it IS a urinary tract infection but I was wondering if there are any who have been affected by this, whether they can give any advice and JUST IN CASE this might not be a urinary tract infection and diabetes instead? No hard belly either (just checked that) and, (after going through the litterbox contents) no blood in his urine. Also, he hasn't yet been spotted licking himself around that area.

    Any help is much appreciated.

P.S I have just noticed that, although he is weeing, it isn't the full normal amount each time and is probably about a tablespoon full of urine. One thing I will note that may or may not have any association is that we have recently changed who we get our litter from. Our other male has shown some "rebellion" in the past when we've changed their toilet area by doing something similar. We used to use a very light-coloured clay-like litter and we are currently using a darker gravel-like litter. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I thought I would mention it just in case.

  • Why is my cat's temperature high?

I have an 11 month old cat who has recently been spayed - during her first check-up 7 days after the operation they managed to identify a mouth ulcer and a temperature of 40 degrees C. She was put on a course of antibiotics for one week to help with the ulcer and advised to check her temperature for the next 48 hours to see if it continues to be high.

We managed to get a temperature of 38.1 on the first day, and 38.4 the second day, so it seemed that things were fine. She had her course of antibiotics and today has had her final check-up. However, the vet took her temperature again and it's 40.2!!

She's eating fine (slightly overweight), drinking fine, peeing/pooping fine, running around, purring, meowing, doing all the things a bright-eyed and bushy tailed cat does. No diahorrea, no vomiting, no going off food, a cold/wet nose and very affectionate. We have to monitor her temperature again to see if it stays in the 40s but I'm baffled as to where this is temperature is coming from?

Can the stress of being in a cat cage affect temperature? She hates being in a cat basket and hates going to the vets. Can anyone give me any kind of advice as to whether this is a case of "the vet's thermometer might be wrong" or whether I'm missing something?

P.S She doesn't have fleas, mites, worms or any kind of skin infection either - the spay wound isn't infecfed and she doesn't chew on it (they used internal stitches anyway). There's no sign of infection anywhere, no swelling, her nature is a little timid but I think that's more because she's been poked about a lot over the last week!!! And the mouth ulcer is healing very well.

  • Installing "The Sims" on Windows 7?

I've been a big fan of the original "The Sims" for the PC and hope to have this installed on my Windows 7 laptop. I've had issues with installing "retro" PC games (like Zoo Tycoon, Theme Hospital etc) on Windows 7 so I was looking for advice on how to install this before I get around to it.

I am getting all expansions and will be installing them in order. Any pre-installation advice?

  • Can you send letters or cards to patients in hospital?

I work for a company that sells personalised greetings cards, and a customer's query has my curiousity buzzing.

Can you send greetings cards, gifts and such to customers who are currently staying in hospital? Provided you plainly give the recipients name, ward name, hospital name etc etc is this possible? If so, would this be delievered directly to the recipient in the ward by the courier/postman or would the card be given to an individual at the front desk who would then pass it onto the patient?

If this is not something that's allowed, I would appreciate if someone could advise of the guidelines or reasons why this cannot be done.

    Thanks guys!

  • What's the difference between the Warioware DS games?

I used to own a copy of "Warioware: Touched" for the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately, this has become lost when moving home.

I'm looking to replace it (fantastic game by the way!) but I've noticed that it is available with two different colours on the cover - one yellow and one orange. Does anyone know if this is any kind of indication with the difference of gameplay? And if so, do you know what the difference is, or personal recommendation as to whether to get the yellow or orange one.

From what I can see, there's no main difference in terms of country restrictions or such - so it may just be nothing more than a varying illustration.

    Help always appreciated!

  • My System Restore programme does not run on my laptop?

I have a not-so-great condition laptop that, after an incident with one of our cats, currently has a smashed-up monitor. However, I have been coping by using an external PC monitor with no problems.

However, my own stupidity caused a nasty virus to get infected and mess up my desktop, shortcuts and plays a random audio file in the background. Without access to half-decent anti-virus I feel the best course of action is to do a full system-restore, so I've backed up all films/music etc onto an external hard-drive.

However, my laptop will not run the Sysem Restore programme - I can see it in my background tasks via Task Manager but nothing actually happens after asking to open it. I've left it running for about 10 minutes in case anything pops up on my desktop but nothing happens, so now I'm stuck!

I've tried it both via "Restore" and running the application rstrui.exe (or similar) and they're both the same. Is there any way you can a System Restore? I've tried via DOS but my external monitor doesn't seem to begin functioning until my desktop starts to load, which is too far gone by then.

  • Why is my Nokia C3 charging me for the internet when I'm not using it?

I have a Nokia C3 on O2 Pay As You Go, and I've had the phone for approximately a week.

I do the internet and "Communities" feature on the phone to view Facebook and I am aware there is a small "G" in the top-left corner of the main screen.

I'm assuming this little G indicates I am connected to the WiFi, as it used to only appear on my phone when I started using the internet.

However it now stays permanently with this little G symbol, so I am guessing I am constantly connected to the internet, but yet I will not have any internet/community App open, and will close them all in the proper way.

And I am being charged for this, up to £1 a day. Have I set something incorrectly? I've tried looking through the manual without much luck, I do want to use the internet and get charged for it but only when I'm using using an internet programme or the Communities App.

    Help please!

  • What is causing his smelly flatulence?

Over the last 2 years my fiance has been given off extremely smelly flatulence. This isn't a regular occurence, and we've figured out it isn't certain foods triggering, and I'm fully aware flatulence has a natural smell anyway but the smells he creates are excessively smelly.

I don't have a go at him for it but it's starting to affect us socially as my fiance finds it difficult to keep it in, so what causes this?

The smells vary from rotten eggs to something that smells like stagnant water, and sometimes it does make me feel nauseous. I have IBS myself and don't experience this problem but I have heard that can be a symptom so I'm wondering if he has the same problem as me.

Any help is much appreciated, we would like to get this solved somehow.

  • Breaking Dawn Release date?

Just wondering if anyone has any information on the UK release date of Breaking Dawn: Part 1? I know the original date is November 2011 but it seems odd that they release the first 3 films quite quickly and now there's over a year to wait for the next one. Is this right? Any links for reference?

P.S No hating, this is a request for information not a chance to debate whether you like it or not.

  • What colour would you recommend?

I am in the process of decorating my main bedroom, and want to go with a dark VIctorian theme with burgundy walls. However, I know 4 burgundy walls (Well, Dulux Ruby Starlet Matt Paint) will make the room look smaller, so I need ideas for a feature wall.

The feature wall will likely be the wall with the window and head of the bed,and I was hoping to have very dark coloured black-out curtains (black or chocolate brown).

So what colour would match 3 burgundy walls? Suggestions or references would REALLY help!

  • Ready to roll icing question...?

I'm in the process of baking a Devils Food Cake, but my fiance bought the icing separately and has accidentally purchased ready to roll icing rather than icing sugar.

Can you melt ready to roll icing into a liquid for spreading? I've not got any icing sugar here and it's too late at night to make a trip :(

  • Very tiny armpit lump?

I have just found, this evening, a very small lump on my right armpit, towards the centre. Its not red, or painful, and feels squishy to the touch. It is currently very small, much smaller than a pea, but under the skin and only found it by accident. There's no ache when I move my arm or raise it, and I do shave my underarms.

Is this a cyst/infected hair follicle? I've looked up Google and from what I can see, it isn't something to worry about. There's no history of breast cancer in my family, and I have had a cyst in my other armpit in the past, but I never noticed the lump of the previous one, it just burst.

    Any help is much appreciated.

  • Can I adopt a family member in Sims 2?

I have two cousins, one of which has been taken into care due to his parents dying. He is an infant, and currently in care, but the other Sim is a married adult.

Are you able to adopt a family member, if they are currently in care? Or is there any option to add a related child in care to a household?

  • Can people with more than one cat only be allergic to one?

My friend has 8 cats yet claims she is only allergic to one. Last I knew cat fur was made of the same thing no matter what breed of cat (apart from hairless of course). Is she telling the truth? I thought if you were allergic to cat fur you were allergic to cat fur, period!
