Suggestions for getting rid of squash bugs?
This is my first year gardening and I need some suggestions on how to get rid of squash bugs. I have tons all over my zucchini and cucumber plants. I have identified them as squash bugs and have heard suggestions of trying to squish them, spraying lightly soapy water on them, picking them off the plants and dunking them in soapy water, etc. I would prefer to find an organic option if possible. If anyone has any ideas that work please let me know.
5 AnswersGarden & Landscape10 years agoExperienced dog people only, please, need advice on an altercation with 2 dogs?
Last Sunday my dog was involved in scuffle with another dog and I have been trying to figure out what may have caused it and how to prevent or correct this so if doesn't happen in the future.
I took my dog to my boyfriend's house to play with his dog for the afternoon, we spent all day outside with them watching them play and have a good time. They are both female, both around 2 years old, both spayed. Similar size dogs, but very different personalities...mine is a great dane, hound mix and his dog is an olde english and american bulldog mix. At the end of the afternoon they were both tired and chewing on seperate toys in the yard, we were sitting on the patio watching them, the bulldog got up with her toy and walked in front of my dog who was laying in the yard. When she did this my dog, out of no where, lunged up and attacked her. I jumped up and yelled "OFF!" as loud as I could and she stopped, but she did get the other dog above her eye and drew blood. She has NEVER shown any of this behavior before and typically loves other dogs.
She is however a rescue dog and does have low confidence and can sometimes be fearful, which I am fully aware of, but nothing like this has ever been an issue before and she is usually comfortable at his house and with his dog. I have talked with her trainer, my local rescue and shelter friends, and other experienced people who all different opinions of what happend...fighting for dominance? both maturing at the same time and both female? resource guarding or toy aggression? fearful biting? etc etc.
Just wanting some more opinions and advice, Thank You for your help.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoOther ideas for feeding a large mouth bass?
We have a large mouth bass and I was wondering if you have any suggestions on what to feed him? We usually do the typical feeder fish, crickets and night crawler worms. We have had him since he was about an inch long and he is now about 10 inches. Just want to see if there are other foods to change his diet up with and make sure he is getting a bit of everything. Also he will not eat anything unless it is alive and moving. Thanks.
5 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhy do people come down on Pits?
Why is it that people don't realize it's not the dog, it's the people! Everytime something is said on here or in person someone blurts out the dumbass comment. PITS ARE VICIOUS! They attack everyone, it's so stupid and it has given a great breed a horrible reputation. It seems people think it is easier to blame an animal then an owner or breeder. How do you feel about this? If you think so badly of the breed, Why?
20 AnswersDogs1 decade agoHeat for my turtles?
I have 2 box turtles, male and female, in separate identical tanks with identical heat lamps and bulb watts (60 Watts). The female seems fine but the male always sits far away from the lamp and attemps to burrow and dig under his carpeting. He hasn't always done this, so I am wondering if it is too hot in his tank? A 60 Watt light isn't that big so I was thinking maybe he is trying to get his winter rest? I am in Iowa and it is VERY cold here right now, but he is inside? They have both been perfectly healthly and I want to keep it that way, any advice is appreciated!
2 AnswersReptiles1 decade agoHow much should I be feeding my rabbit?
He has unlimited timothy hay, and I can been giving him 3/4 to 1 Cup timothy based pellets daily. Along with carrots, apples, and greens as treats. Is this right? He looks like he is putting on weight and I don't want him to be unhealthy. He is nuetered about 1 year old and about 6-7 pounds.
10 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoFood Agressive Rabbit?
My rabbit is a fairly new addition to my home and has really come around to be a great pet, except for one thing, he is food aggresive! He gets timothy pellets, plenty of fresh timothy hay, cilantro, parsley, carrots and apples as treats.... Everytime he sees my hands he tries to sniff around and bite them! It is a fairly new thing he has picked up and it is annoying! He also chomped down on my hand when I was putting pellets in his bowl. How can I stop this? He is neutered already.
5 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoLitter Training Rabbit?
My rabbit is about 11 months old and has mastered going pee in his litter box. The only problem he is having is he doesn't poop in his box all the time. I pick up his mess and place it back in his litter box so he can see where it should be going but he refuses to do this, is there anything else I can do to help him learn? I would love to have him out and roaming free all the time but I can't if he is going to poop on the floor. He always does it around the perimeter of the room, why is this? any help is appreciated! Thanks!
6 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoWhy does my rabbit do this?
My rabbit gets play time around the house everyday for about 4-5 hours. He likes sitting on the kitchen floor and stretching out but everytime I go in to play with him he sits up really strait then runs over to me and begins jumping on my feet and running around my ankles really fast, it is the weirdest thing ever.
He also does this jumping thing where he flings him self into the air and twirls his back feet around him and the slides across the tile floor, is he just playing or does this mean something. It seems as if he is almost being territorial.
He is nuetered and very spoiled also...
8 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoHow much should a siamese rabbit cost?
I have heard that the rabbit I adopted is a siamese rabbit or siamese rabbit mix. I am not even sure if that is the correct term for him. I want to get him a female and would like to know how much approximatly one should cost. I do not want to breed them, as he is neutered. I just want another one as a friend for him. Thanks for any help you can offer!

6 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoWhat breed of Rabbit do I have?
His fur is colored just like a siamese cat. He has brown eyes and is darker on his points, like the tips of his ears and his nose and his fur gets lighter towards his middle, like a cream color. He has the small stand up ears. I adopted him but have no idea what exactly he is... Thanks for any help!
5 AnswersOther - Pets1 decade agoWhat are good things to put in my bunny's cage?
He is out hopping around most of the time but he likes to hang out in his cage once in a while. I have some wood for chewing and paper towel rolls but he doesn't seem to be too amused by anything. What would he like? or What are some good treats to give him when he uses the little box correctly?
