  • How does this story sound so far? Is it interesting?

I'm writing a dystopian story and I would like an opinion on either the first or second chapter, or both if you're feeling generous. The link with the synopsis is below. Thanks.

  • What can I do to get experience in the world of media and communications?

I'm a college freshman and I'm thinking of double majoring in media studies, as well as communications studies. Would I be able to get a summer job or internship with no experience? What kind of work can be done over the course of the summer, since that's the only time I can work?

    Thanks.

  • How can I get experience in the business world?

I'm 18 years old and I attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I'm thinking about majoring in Business Administration.

I want to get a job this summer, but I don't really want to work at a summer camp or daycare like I have in the past. I'm originally from New York and I'll be there from mid-May to mid-August.

I was wondering what kind of job or internship I could look for in order to get experience in business. I'm not sure what would qualify as a business sort of job. I was thinking maybe sales? Perhaps working in a department store such as Bloomingdale's or Macy's.

I'll be 19 in June, if that helps any.

    Thanks, in advance.

  • How does this story sound so far? Help!?

There are two parts: the prologue and the first chapter. Both are very short. You can read either or both. Advice would be great. Thanks.

  • Help with a story idea?

So I'm writing a story called "Misfits" and I want to add in a humorous or embarrassing scene in my next chapter but I'm stuck.

As for characters, there are twin boys (Sebastian & Isaiah), 4 other girls (Kyla, Ivy, Aubrey, & Mina), and 2 other boys (Richie & Shane). They're juniors in high school. Right now everyone is on bad terms with one of the twins, Sebastian. One of my characters (Shane) had a one night stand with Aubrey in the back of his car.

The above info is not necessary, it just gives you guys something to work with, I suppose. Thanks.

  • Help with characters?

I just need a little advice for my characters. There's one thing that I can't seem to figure out for one of my characters. All of the following characters each have a power that is derived from something inside of them (a belief, fear, etc)

    1. Alara- has the power to freeze and create ice

    2. Asher- has the ability to duplicate himself, derived from his fear of being alone.

    3. Mai- has the ability to become invisible, derived from her fear of being unimportant

    4. Axel- has the power of empathy (ability to sense the emotions of others), derived from the fact that no one takes his feelings into consideration

    5. Chase- has the power to react, think, run, sense things quickly; derived from his wish to be the best

    6. Lana- has the power to read people's thoughts through fingerprints, derived from her fear of people "reading" her and seeing her for who she really is

So I'm stuck on Alara. I can't think of a reason as to why she would have her power. Any suggestions, ideas, or advice would be greatly appreciated <3

  • What do you think of this story?

    http://www.wattpad.com/story/3733614-only-a-cut

It's a self-harm awareness story that deals with friendship, sexuality, family, bullying, and love. It would be awesome if you could give some feedback <3

  • What do you think of my story?

    http://www.wattpad.com/story/5962590-contrast

I'm just writing it for fun. I really doubt I'll ever publish it or do anything with it. I know it sounds cliche right now but I'm going to make it unique. It's pretty much about a teenage boy who grows up without his birth parents and eventually falls in love with a girl suffering from anorexia. There will be some plot twists and what not. Does it sound interesting?

  • Need help with character names? Could someone help with ideas?

So I have some character names in mind. The story is going to take place in a dystopian society sometime in the future, but I'm not sure what year it will take place in yet. And in my story, the characters will eventually develop powers.

    1. Alara Edge- ice manipulation/ can freeze objects, create ice, etc, skin becomes cold when angry or sad, eyes turn icy blue when using her power

    2. Maxxis ?- duplication/ can duplicate himself or other objects

    3. Mai Kim- invisibility/ can make herself disappear, as well as other people if they touch her

    4. Chase Windsor- superhuman speed/ can run, think, react, and sense faster than a normal human would; sometimes gets overwhelmed when he thinks too much

    5. Solana Archer- mind reading/ can read the thoughts of others if she comes in contact with a fingerprints

    6. Axel Paine- Empathy/ able to sense the emotions or feelings of others

I need a new last name for Maxxis. I don't want it to be common either. Can anyone help? And how do the other names sound?

  • How is my story idea?

I have this idea for a teen romance story that I want to write. It's just an experiment. I'm not going to try to have it published or anything. It would just be for fun.

I wanted there to be an interracial relationship. Probably one white and another black. So I was thinking of throwing in racism awareness issues as well.

As for characters, these were the names I thought of:

    Cole Spencer and Sadie Howard

Cole is going to be told in his point of view. And basically, he was given up. As he grew older, he started to resent his foster parents and began to act out. From there, he got sent from foster home to foster home. Basically all of this is due to the fact that he feels unloved because his own mother didn't want him. So he'll most likely be reserved and will have the tendency to shut people out. And when he moves to a new city (not sure which), he'll meet Sadie and they'll fall in love and blah blah blah. And then they'll have to overcome her racist parents etc.

I haven't written anything, but the idea is in my head. Do you like the names? What city should it take place in? Do you like the names? What could Sadie's story be? (I haven't really given her much thought yet)

  • Are these ideas believable?

I'm writing a story and everyone I've talked to likes the idea. I'm just not sure if it's believable. It takes place in a fictional world and it's fantasy:

There are two goddess. One of peace and one of chaos. They are sisters. The Goddess of Peace created the world (kind of like God did, if you believe in that sort of thing) and the Goddess of Chaos set out to destroy it. Instead of completely destroying it, she created deformities in the land. There are two temples: one for each Goddess. In each temple is a majestic blade. If one of the blades is removed, it creates unbalance in the world, causing it to come to an end.

And another thing. My protagonist needs a diversion in order to stand in the way of stopping the antagonist. I was thinking that one of the other countries decides a surprise attack and war breaks out. Then the protagonist and company will pretty much have to fight their way through in order to reach their goal. Is that believable?

One more thing. The Goddess of Chaos has possessed one of my characters: the antagonist. So that's pretty much what motivates her to commit several unforgivable sins. The Goddess pushes her and makes it hard for the antagonist to resist. Is this a decent idea? Is there any way that I can improve it?

***I wasn't really aiming for Peace and Chaos to be literal opposites. One is good and one is more sinister obviously, but in my story, Chaos is also a sort of magical power that will be introduced in the sequel if I get that far. There's basically more to it than just good and evil.

  • The Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices?

I've just finished Clockwork Angel. I'm gonna be honest. I had to, literally, force myself to finish it. It wasn't like Mortal Instruments. When I read those (I've read all 5) I was immediately hooked and could hardly put the book down. With Infernal Devices however, it was really hard for me.

Clockwork Angel was kind of weird to me. I think that Tessa is a flat character, compared to Clary. But I must say that Will and Jem are my favorite characters. They seem to be one of the few characters with some sort of substance. And Nate... We seem to have another evil brother here lol. I wasn't expecting for him to turn on everyone. And I had no idea that Mortmain was the magister. I was completely shocked. One thing I like about this story is that Magnus and Camille made appearances. I read TMI first, so it was interesting to see them pop up again.

The Mortal Instruments were amazing. The characters are perfect and there isn't one character that I don't like. The setting in NYC was cool since I live in Brooklyn. And there is more action and drama in this series than the other, imo. The only thing that annoyed me was that Jace was always trying to kill himself or something, putting himself in so much danger -_- My favorite character is Sebastian, even though he's the bad guy. My favorite character always seems to be the antagonist, no matter what the book lol.

Anyway, which do you think is better?
