I'm just a normal woman who works five days a week, has normal friends, normal hobbies, and a lot of experience in dating, long-term relationships, and raising kids. I like to think that I have a healthy amount of confidence and self-esteem as well as a strong opinion in general areas. Always willing to help out.

  • Is there a consent form I can sign that will allow my partner to talk to my child's teacher?

[Using my partner's account] - I have been separated from my wife for the last 10 years and will be filing for divorce now that my life is back on track (and wife has not been seen by me or my child for the last three years)... Having said that, I am the custodial parent for my child but, I just started a business and have no time for anything except sleep so when my partner offered to go to a parent/teacher meeting for me, I accepted. I had, after all, completed the registration form with my partner's name and listed her as stepmother even though we're not officially married. When my partner arrived she was told that they could not talk to her about my child without my presence so I'm wondering if there is a form I can fill out that will allow this and if so, do you know what it's called and if it's available on the internet as a generic form I can sign and have notarized?

  • Your feedback requested. I will share this with my boyfriend...?

My boyfriend and his daughter have lived with me (in my home) for the last several years. I knew he didn't make more money than me when he moved in but he contributed to the household in other ways. He's a carpenter so I thought there was relationship equity. I paid the rent, he'd replace the windows, etc. Well, now it's several years later and things have definitely changed and I'm feeling used. I pay for everything - the mortgage, the utilities, the food, I clean the house, wash the clothes, and handle any paperwork that he needs help with for him aand his daughter AND I work a full-time job and go to school part-time. As a carpenter he has a tough job and often comes home complaining of body aches and pains but there are long spans of time where he doesn't work at all.

Lately I have been feeling especially used because he does not contribute to the household any longer but he takes off after work to hang out at the bar for anywhere from 1 - 4 hours each night. He says it's because he wants to hang out with his friends and that would be fine except he has a daughter to take care of. I'm irate that in addition to everything else I do and provide for that he would just "abandon" his daughter to my care as well. This past week I have been going to the bar and harrassing him to leave and go home to care for his child. Please help me plead my case. He needs to know that he's wrong and that it's time to move out. Thanks.

  • Where do I get an Ethernet driver disk?

I don't even know if I'm asking the right question and I'm freaking out a little because I have online courses to complete this week! Anyway, I upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 and now I cannot access the internet because there's no network adapter so says the internet troubleshooter. Diagnostic run says I have to download the driver from disk but I don't have it. What do I do now?

  • Can my rental management (Windermere) require me to use their realtors when I'm ready to sell my mobile home?

The lease agreement does not indicate that I have to but it has been stated in a memo to tenants that we have to do this.

  • Local corner store runs tabs for regulars...?

Each month my husband has to pay of his tab at the corner mart and each month we find ourselves in the negative because of it. I'm wondering if it's even legal for stores to run a tab that isn't paid for monthly, weekly, whenever... if I am a small business owner, can I do this legally? And if not, who should be contacted in order to report this?

  • Child support: how to collect arrears? Washington State?

    Background:

    Ex lives in Connecticut.

Son is now 20, going to school, lives at home...

Large sum of money still owed from first 12 years of non payment

I am currently receiving back payment but only $150 a month which is less than 1/2 of what he was paying prior to our son turning 18. At this rate it is going to take another 15 years to pay off. With that said, I have checked the Dept of Child Support website and did not come up with anything useful with regards to getting more money per month (say $300/mo). I have contacted the case worker who contacted the state of Connecticut DCS and was told that they would not garnish more than $150 a month in back child support even though it was take that long to pay off. Are there any other legal actions I can take to petition the courts for more?

  • My neighbor's a snitch, what can I do?

This past Sunday my friend/neighbor informed me that she is the informant (snitch) for the property manager. She says she only wants a safe apartment community. However, there are about 36 apartments in this building and in the four years I have lived here I have seen people come and go and I have heard of evictions and angry tenants over nonsensical issues. I can't help but think that my neighbor has been the one to throw them under the proverbial bus. I have been thinking about it all week and because of it, haven't talked to her since. What would you do in this situation? Is there anything that can be done?

  • What do I use to prevent grass and weeds from growing in between the bricks?

I have a brick walkway and the previous owner of the place didn't use weedblock I guess and there is a wood overlay on the edges of the brick preventing me from easily pulling the bricks up and laying weedblock down. Today I'm removing the grass and weeds by hand. Is there anything I can put down into these cracks to prevent regrowth?

  • Bigger door than the door jamb... how does that work?

I currently have a 32x80 door and want to replace it with a 36x80 door.

I know that the door jamb needs to be replaced as well but what I want to know is, considering everything else is fine with the entryway, how long should it take to replace a smaller front door with a bigger one? Reason... I have a handyman that's willing to do the job but isn't willing to give me an estimate so I want to get an idea from the general handyman population on what they think and come up with at least a starting point so I know how much I'll be spending roughly.

  • Manufactured Home: How do I repair a hole in the floor?

I have a double wide manufactured home. It is fully carpeted so I'm not sure of the extent of the damage but there are holes or soft spots in the floor in the front room. When you step on this area your foot goes down further but does not go through.

Would you please tell me if you have come across this yourself?

If you have, would you please tell me in detail, how you repaired it?

Thank you in advance for your time.
