Who else sounds like Janelle Monae?
Her music has been growing on me for a while now, to the point that I would now say she's my absolute favorite artist. I love her music because it's so fun, it's not at all harsh or abrasive, it's catchy and upbeat, and yet she also manages to include positive and uplifting social messages. My favorite album of hers is definitely The Electric Lady, and my favorite song would have to be Q.U.E.E.N.
The only other artist I can think of who sounds anything like her is Prince. Who else should I be listening to?
2 AnswersRock and Pop7 years agoWhich beer on my Honey Oats Cereal?
I have a bowl of Great Value brand Crunchy Honey Oats cereal and three choices of beer. I don't know much about beer, but one is a pale ale, one is a winter lager, and one is a porter. Which one would taste best on my cereal?
2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink7 years agoWhat does sciatic mean in this context?
My newspaper ran this editorial last week and said, "Utah's health exchange has promise. Unfortunately, there's no telling how it will fare in the sciatic nirvana of Democratic health care. State leaders should support the basic concept, but proceed with caution."
Clearly "sciatic nirvana" is a pun on sciatic nerve, but it appears to be a pun that makes absolutely no sense. Any ideas?

4 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhat are the health risks (real, rumored, and imaginary) associated with homosexuality?
HIV is the one everybody talks about, but what other health risks are there? I am particularly looking for three categories of risks:
Confirmed. Actual medically studied and confirmed risks.
Unconfirmed. Risks that might be real, but no one knows for sure.
Debunked. Risks that at one time were popularly assumed to be associated with homosexuality, but never really were.
Bonus question: what risks (other than pregnancy) are associated with heterosexuality but not homosexuality.

There will be plenty of other names on the ballot. Nader, Barr, Baldwin, McKinney. With so many quality choices available, why would anyone want to throw their vote away on somebody from the same tired old established parties? Thoughts?

7 AnswersRock and Pop1 decade agoGuitar songs by Sinatra, Gaye, Buble?
I'm trying to learn to play some songs on my acoustic guitar. I'm having a hard time playing anything by Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, or Michael Buble. I'm not really too familiar with any of those artists, so can anyone suggest what songs would be good to do and how to do them? Thank you.

2 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoDo nuclear power plants repel clouds?
I recently got a job on a nuclear site. It was slightly rainy today. Some of the old dudes on site said that if you watched the clouds you would see them part as they passed the plant because of the electromagnetic field. It looked like they actually did part, so I was wondering if this is an actual fact and if that is the actual reason.
3 AnswersWeather1 decade agoWho sang this song? Lyric: "His Fortress shall fall to TEMPTAAAAAATION"?
I have this song on my computer and I can't find who sang it. It starts with a jazzy drum intro, and there's a loud tuba. There's also piano and strings, and acoustic guitar but the tuba is loudest. The guy mumbles through all the lyrics, except the chorus which is like "Temptaaaaation" It sounds like the title theme from a James Bond movie
white Lovely daughters
white sons of man
dip your feet in the water
put your lives in his hands
for you belong at the *indistinct*
you'll kneel in *indistinct*
and you cannot blame the devil
it's his primary art
it's temptaaaaaaaaation
temptaaaaaaaaaaation
listen to reason
we'll sue religion
as they burn down your village
steal your beautiful brown eyed sons
and they feel your eyes watching
but they won't see all
and *indistinct*
his fortress shall fall
to temptaaaaaaaaation
temptaaaaaaaaaation
Like I said, he mumbles, so I'm sure I've got most of the lyrics totally wrong.
