Finally went out and bought a new set of strings for my Hohner acoustic guitar. Having recently read an article on the Internet (the most reliable source of information ever) i found out that you shouldn't have more than 2,5 winds around the tuning peg OR FIRE AND BRIMSTONE SHALL RAIN DOWN UPON YOUR SORRY HIDE..... anyway i clipped the high E string (First string) too short and it refused to stay put after trying to get the initial tension to build up while tuning.

2 or 3 tries later it broke.... tried replacing it with the ancient E string i previously had, which promptly broke too, due to corrosion.So until i can scratch up the cash for a new set of strings ...

Can i use the old/ancient B string (second string) in place, tuned normally with the rest? Or will my guitar's neck warp AND FIRE AND BRIMSTONE SHALL RAIN DOWN UPON MY SORRY HIDE?

Is it an emergency fix? Or can it work for a couple of weeks? Model: Hohner HW 420G-TOB -

I have a automobile-jumpstarting unit. (sort of an emergency battery,compressor,flashlight unit thing). Its wall charger has bitten the proverbial dust. I found a wall charger for a digital camera,rated at 12 volts, 800 mA .The polarity matches.

I don't know the power rating for the battery inside the jumpstart unit , but i'm guessing it's significantly higher.A couple of Amps probably. Is there any risk of frying the charger if i attempt to use it on the large battery?

I'm on the level where i'm required to broadcast the message to the NSF and then get back to my brother Paul. Now,i'd love to do that,but the tunnel leading back to his apartment is now closed by 2 doors.I've completed the goals of broadcasting AND finding the evidence.Is this door thing still supposed to happen? It;s not covered in any walkthroughs.

This is the absolute and definitive LAST time i reinstall xp and am reverted to my old,clunky system in a matter of hours.I've heard a lot about Linux,Red Hat,Ubuntu and so on but i'm not quite sure what would work for me.

Specs: I run a Compaq Pentium 3 at 1 Ghz with 390 Mb of Ram,and about 90 GB in 7 partitions.

What i need: A point and click interface.

Something to run most programs like Ymess,Winamp,Mozilla and a few games.

No need for additional coding,debugging,editing since i have no idea how text commands work.

It has to be FREE

Which would you reccomend and why?

I bought this pretty decent sleeping bag,but it's kind of thin. its comfort zone is rated between +8 and +22 degrees celsius (don't know farenheit,sorry)

Would i have a chance at using it in colder weather if i were to stitch one of those "emergency/space blankets" to the inside lining?

1.8 liter gasoline engine,straight 4,SOHC

I installed a new set of piston rings and after inserting the pistons back in the block (with a home-made tool composed of a cut up PVC pipe and a chain wrench for oil filters) i noticed that the pistons move with a lot of effort.I can only get them to move up and down if i gently tap them with a rubber hammer.Before the change,i could move them up and down with my bare hand.

Is this normal or should i start to worry?

As a side note,if i try to turn the crankshaft when all the pistons are attached and the main bearing caps tightened,i can't get it to move.at all.

(I've also replaced the main bearings)

I'm not a professional and i don't have any money either.I'm just wingin' it,so please don't ask me to go to a specialist or talk about special stuff. Just tell me what to check.

I got a computer for free from my neighbours who are moving out.

It hasn't been used in a looong time.They said i might use some parts from it and they don't know if it still works but i'd like to see if i can get it up and running.

From the casing,it sais it's an IBM PC340.I think the processor is set to 166 Mhz.

Problem is,when i turn it on,the monitor doesnt light up at all.I can see some activity in the hard disk,but the screen stays blank.I'm getting a beep code from it on startup : 1 long beep,3 short ones,1 long one.

I've also noticed it's missing a fan.

What does it mean,what can i do about it and how can i get this old thing to run again?

I want to change the rear shocks on my '86 Mitsubishi Tredia.The old ones are in an awful state.I found new ones for sale,but they're gas shocks.Whereas the originals were oil ones.The guy at the parts shop actually recommended oil shocks since the roads here where i live are quite bad.

So my question(s) :Should i buy the gas shocks that are made for Tredias?Or keep looking till i find something oil-based that is compatible?What are the pros/cons of each type?

I'm looking for the name of a movie whose plot takes place somewhere in the former yugoslavia (i think).A jet fighter is sent out into an area to do some recon with this highly specialised camera.It is shot down and one of the pilots is killed (and witnessed by the other) right next to the crash site while the other escapes but is constantly pursued by some guy who seems to be a special-op allthough he dresses like a civillian.The surviving pilot wanders around,at one point hitching a ride in the back of a pickup truck with 2 other soldiers/guerilla fighters.There's an interesting scene somewhere involving the pilot barely missing a tripwire in an abandoned town laden with mines and explosives.2 bosnian soldiers aren't as lucky.He eventually is rescued with the photos/data after a really fierce battle towards the end.

I won a free mp4 player from pepsi today.The unit works ok,it plays videos,songs,pictures,e-books,etc.Problem is,when i hooked it up to the computer,windows didn't react at all.No "Found new hardware"no nothing.Tried it on windows 98 too and took it to a friend's computer.Absolutely no response on that one either.The LCD on the player does light up and say "Connect" but other than that,nothing.I'm running Windows xp,the player is a 1 GB "Allfine 1856" The cd that came with it doesn't do anything,it has a couple of exe's that install some utilities for it ,but those don't work either since it sais the player isn't connected to the computer.In the setup menu from the player,i couldn't find anything of importance,xcept a couple of settings for "MultiDrive,Single Drive or Encrypted drive" Those didn't do anything either.Anybody have a simmilar problem where the hardware is connected but the computer doesn't notice it?anything i should check before i make a REALLY angry phonecall later?

I came to the conclusion that i've made some pretty bad choices with the skills and stats of my Necromancer but i want to finish the game that i started.Where can i find a trainer that will give me new stat points and skill choices whenever i want it to?

Heard a nice rock song on the radio this morning,but it was too noisy in the car to make out much.It's rock -ish ,pretty fast-paced,a female singer sais "Just a/one night to change...{something,something}.." a couple of times at the start of the chorus. Sounds a lot like Evanescence.

My girl's computer refuses to start when i push the power button.The motherboard is an Asrock 775vm800.Dual core Intel. (At least that's what it said on it)Restart button won't do anything either.It IS letting power through,since when i plug in the power cord to the atx power supply,the keyboard lights blink once.Other than that....the whole thing stays silent.Not even the cooling fan starts.Anybody know if this is specific for THIS type of motherboard?And more importantly ... how can i fix it without having to spend a fortune on professional pc repairmen?

I saw this cool movie a while ago.Only caught a couple of fragments from it.I know it's a war movie either about Koreea or Vietnam.

The scene i remember best is:

The squad of american soldiers reaches an abandoned town.In one building there's a sniper that manages to kill one or more of the soldiers in the squad.They barely make it into the building and find the sniper to be a vietnamese/koreean woman sitting at a window with a gun,waiting.I think they shoot her or hit her and she's on the floor,asking them to kill her.

Any idea where it's from?

Also,in another (or maby the same) movie also in Koreea/Vietnam, in one scene one of the us soldiers takes some white phosphorous to the face from a phosphorous grenade.One of his squad members has to pin him down and use the blade of the knife to neutralise it,or something coz i remember him sticking the knife in the guy's cheek.

What the funk happened?!?

I've got a small (6.4)HDD on which i had Xp and a bigger (80)HDD that was split up in about 6 partitions.The bigger one is the slave and i had Win. 98 installed on it since my games ran better there.

I ALWAYS had an option right before the bootup to choose which OS to boot: 98 or Xp.

Yesterday, Xp got infected badly and i was forced to reinstall.I reinstalled it (obviously after the format) where it used to be,but now i don't get that boot menu anymore and i can't get into 98. What happened and more importantly, how can i fix it without reinstalling the whole enchillada?

The symptoms: No more shutdown button,just log off.

All the processes from the Task manager have (Unknown) at the user name.Lsass.exe forces the system to restart unless i type the shutdown - a command in the command prompt.If i try to modify anything in msconfig,i just get a popup window saying "&About System Configuration"and nothing gets done.

Don;t see any foreign processes at the task manager.

I've heard it might be the sasser virus,but i'm not sure.

Anybody been through this before?Any way to fix it without system restore or reinstalling windows?

I'd like to know if there is a program that can just generate one sound,at the frequency i specify.For instance,say i want to test a tweeter,i need a constant sound at 20 kHZ.I also need to be able to set the frequency so i can also test a woofer ar 20 Hz , or whatever frequency that i choose to set.Anybody know anything i could use?
