How do I bypass EDID restrictions on Windows 10?
On early versions of Windows before EDID came in you could manually select any resolution you liked & if it didn't work you simply waited for it to revert back. Then EDID came in for simpletons that only lets you select compatible resolutions for you monitor. The problem with this is you may have a pretty awesome monitor that doesn't support or has incorrect EDID protocols. This is where I'm at. On Windows 7 I managed to bypass the EDID & get max resolution out of my monitor, on Windows 10 I'm stuck with some ridiculously low res image reminiscent of Windows 3.1. I refuse to buy a new monitor just because some A**hole decided people aren't capable of selecting their own resolution & monitors have to be made 'compatible with windows 10'. There must be a way to bypass EDID restrictions.

Is someone who tags me on Facebook notified if I have tag privacy switched on and are they notified when I accept or reject it?
2 AnswersFacebook5 years agoHow do I stop my drop down projector screen sticking?
I have a home cinema system with an electric drop down projector screen that is pretty awesome. Recently however, my screen has started sticking on the way down & I have to manually pull it down firmly while it drops to ensure it comes all the way out. Otherwise friction seems to hold in the last 4 inches & it noisily slips down gradually over the next half hour.
The start stop point are correctly calibrated on the motor & the screen is level. it just seems maybe the friction of the screen leaving the housing is holding it back, can this be lubricated somehow without damaging the screen?
1 AnswerHome Theatre6 years agoHow much detail should I give prospective employers about why I left my previous job?
I left my previous job for many reasons. The actual job wasn't quite as it was described to me. The manager was unapproachable, unsupportive & generally unpleasant to deal with & the working methods I was instructed to use were unethical. I wasn't happy working there & felt I had to move on.
It's not good form to complain & I wonder whether telling this to a prospective employer would be viewed negatively or whether it might help explain why I left? Would there be a more tactful way to explain my situation?
4 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment7 years agoIs driving on a space saver wheel usually so noisy?
Yesterday I hit a rock in the road which blew out my front left tyre & damaged the alloy wheel, so I have put the space saver on until I get a new wheel on Monday. My question is whether it is normally so noisy or is there further damage to the car? The space saver is both thinner & smaller diameter than my other wheels & while using it I have a lot of noise coming from that corner of the car. I only intend on driving it about 10 miles on Monday where I will put the new wheel on but am worried that something else maybe damaged. The car is a Vectra with 17" alloy wheels & usually very quiet so could it be I am just not used to so much road noise? I know the puzzle will be solved once the new wheel is on but it is bothering me.
7 AnswersSafety8 years agowhy do I suffer nauseous exhaustion at 4pm every day?
I've been living with this problem for about 12 years now & am starting to realise it's ruining my life. It doesn't seem to be related to when I eat & is much worse when I'm not at work. At work I can usually push through it but have had to leave early on occasion. If I don't lie down for 20 minutes it just gets worse & worse. I'm never been a good sleeper & it is worse if I haven't slept well, but I still suffer on days where I've had a full nights sleep. Anyone got any ideas of how to tackle this problem?
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care8 years agoSuggestions for a website to store favourite links on?
As iGoogle is due to be scrapped this year I am desperately looking for a decent website that I can store my favourite page links on. It needs to have minimal fuss with low graphic content & high link content. I have found one or two but they're hopeless & waste enormous screen space with junk & only hold about 10 links. I'm looking for more like 40 links. I know some browsers will sync favourites across multiple devices but I hate navigating the menus & just want the links in front of me on a webpage.
1 AnswerOther - Internet8 years agoCan you recommend an Android phone with a keyboard?
I currently have a Motorola Dext (EU version of Motorola Cliq) which I dearly love. But it is starting to show it's age & Motorola refuse to upgrade these past Android 1.5. I know these can be cracked & updated but I couldn't make it work & it's really not worth paying someone to crack such an old phone.
What I Love: Android, large screen, slide out keyboard.
What I hate: Crap battery life, No updates & therefore poor app compatibility
What I would really like to replace it with is more up to date version of the same thing, i.e. another slide out keyboard design, but there are so few on the market. Can people recommend some phones for me to look at.
4 AnswersCell Phones & Plans8 years agoadb command problem rooting Dext?
I'm trying to route my dext so that I can upgrade Android & have been following some online guides.
Starting here: http://modmymobile.com/forums/562-motorola-cliq-ge...
Which during the rooting process directs me here: http://modmymobile.com/forums/562-motorola-cliq-ge...
Unfortunately the rooting instructions in the second thread are pretty dire & inadequate for a novice like myself. I have the SDK & ADB installed but when I send the command 'ADB devices' I get 7 devices listed all with the same serial number, the first 6 show 'offline' & the 7th shows 'device'. If I try to enter the commands as shown in the thread I get the error 'more than one emuator or device' If I try to address the command directly at the serial number number using -S it returns the error 'device offline'
What do I do to fix this? It's taken me hours just to get this far.
2 AnswersCell Phones & Plans9 years agoDoes anyone know of a firefox add on that simulates the 'Most Visited' page in Chrome or 'Top Sites' in Safari?
I love the appearance of Safari & the Speed of chrome but Safari crashes every 5 minutes & Chrome has too many incompatibilities with my regular sites, so I ended up going back to firefox which is unfortunately way slower than both but still way more stable than explorer. What I really miss though is the 'Most Visited' & 'Top Sites' pages that Chrome & Safari use, is there an add on or website to give this feature in Fifrefox?
2 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoHow do I store a recent number to the contact list on MotoBlur?
How do I store a recent number to the contact list on a Motorola Dext with MotoBlur? Despite being a fantastic handset with a great user interface I just can't find this function. I've never known a phone that doesn't do this & I've had mobile phones for over 15 years.
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoHow do I calculate a selling price with a specific margin?
How do I make a formula that will calculate a selling price based on my cost price & a target margin? or would I be better finding a relation between margin & the required mark-up? Bearing in mind that Margin & Mark-Up are not the same thing, e.g. 50% markup equates to 33.33 recurring Margin. A starting point is that Cost + (Cost x Markup%) = Selling price and Margin% = 100/Selling x Profit and Profit = Selling price - Cost price
