  • Physics Question: Conservation of Energy?

A diver with a mass of 30 kg is on a platform, h, distance from the surface of the water. When jumped off, he hit the water and went 5 m underwater. What is the distance between the platform from which he jumped from and the water's surface if the water has a resistance force of 10 N.

The answer I got was 4.830 meters, but that didn't seem right. Could someone show me how to do it step by step?

  • Complex Conjugate Zeros: Finding a polynomial from given zeros?

Write a polynomial with function of minimum degree in standard form with real coefficients whose zeros include -3,4, and 2-i.

I know the equation starts out:

    (x+3)(x-4) [x- (2-i) ] [x - (2+i)]

But when i try to foil [x-(2-i)][x-(2+i)] I get confused and end up with x^2-4x-2ix-5 when really i should be getting x^2-4x+5.

Can someone please explain to me preferably step-by-step on how to do this problem?

  • Please Help with this question?

How would you find the area of a triangle with sides 3,5,7. i tried finding the height but failed epically since it does not give you the angles. i also used hero's formula but that didn't work either cause i got a non-terminating number(think they're called irrational numbers). anyways i need to find the area of the triangle so i can find the area of a triangular prism with the height of 10. but if you could explain how to find the area of the triangle in radical form it would be greatly appreciated.
