  • Link to U.S. Map with Senate / Governors that includes seats not up for election?

There are many, many sites with Electoral Maps for the Senate and Governors -- maps that show the election results (in red or blue, depending on who won)

What I'm looking for is a site with, AFTER the election's results, the new make-up of the country, Senate seats and Governors, INCLUDING those who weren't up for election.

I'd like to be able to just move my cursor over a map and see who the Senators and Governors are going to be in each state, INCLUDING sitting Senators and Governors who weren't up for election, may be with something to tell me when they'll be up for election, as well as the newly elected or re-elected Senators and Governors.

Every map I can find has the states that weren't up for election in gray, and no information on who the current Senators or Governors are for those states.

What I want to see is the new make-up of the ENTIRE Senate.

(And the new make-up of the U.S.A.'s governors.)

  • Do you know that your vote can be thrown out if you vote "straight ticket"?

Did you know that your vote can be thrown out if you vote "straight ticket" and also vote for a President?

    Here is information about this:

This is VERY IMPORTANT: This has been confirmed TRUE by snopes: IF YOUR STATE has paper ballots and there is a place for "Straight Ticket" BE CAREFUL, DO NOT SELECT "Straight Ticket" and ALSO select a President, if you do your VOTE WILL BE THROWN OUT!

Did you know? If you do, are you spreading the word?

  • Did John McCain throw Mitt Romney under a bus?

Mitt Romney won the largest number of votes, besides John McCain, in the Republican primaries. Conservatives love Mitt Romney. Why did John McCain not pick him as VP, but instead, threw him under a bus?

  • Hillary Clinton: Barack Obama's Secretary of State, or Chief Justice on the Supreme Court?

Hillary Clinton is working hard to convince her supporters to GET BEHIND Barack Obama!

Barack Obama has obviously saved her for a FAR BETTER POSITION than Vice President. After all, what can the Vice President really do, besides break ties in the Senate, and wait for him to die?

I think he's going to make her either Secretary of State or Chief Justice on the Supreme Court?

    Which do you think?

  • Questions for Published Authors?

I’m an unpublished author working on my first book. I’m in my 40s, have a family and a full time job, so I must write in my spare time. I'm also an avid and almost obsessive, reader, something I think is a "must" for a writer. I came up with the idea for my novel in 2005 and have spent considerable time plotting, researching and writing.

Last year I completed the first draft of my book, a thriller novel, in some ways comparable to the works of Dan Brown. My first draft is about 725 double-spaced pages in MS Word, about 200,000 words. I’m currently working on my second draft, although a few of the early chapters, I have revised and polished many times so that I may share those portions with others. I believe, and those close friends who have read my opening chapters have concurred, that my book is excellent and that it is best-seller material, assuming that I continue on the road I’m on and finish the book, and that I get the right agent and publisher so that my book gets the advertising and promotion it deserves. Naturally, my time constraints make the writing a slow process.

I have no experience in selling a book, nor have I ever published anything other than letters to the editors on the opinion page of newspapers.

    My questions are these:

    1. The premise of my novel, the idea itself, is a natural. I’m nervous about letting my idea out, that a fast writer might steal the idea and write their own novel based on my idea. I find the idea that is the basis of my book so intuitive, I’m surprised no one has written a book with this premise before. To protect the idea itself, should I copyright my rough draft? The draft is very unpolished, something I do not want others to read. If I copyright it, will anyone (besides a clerk in the copyright office) be able to read my embarrassing, unpolished first draft? Can I write a short synopsis and copyright that, to protect my idea? Or do I need a finished, polished version before I copyright?

    2. Do I need to have a final, polished version of the entire book, before I start looking for an agent? How much should I have, finished and polished, before I start looking for an agent? Where do you suggest I begin looking for an agent?

    3. Someone I know recommended that, even before I seek an agent, I reserve a URL and create a website for my book, and that I also publish an audio pod-cast of the beginning of the book, as a “teaser” to bring interest to my book, even before seeking an agent or publisher. Good idea or bad, and why?

    Thanks...

  • Atheist, Agnostic.. we need a new word. Does Aheedist work?

    (Spiritually speaking,)

We know Atheists don't believe in God.

We know Agnostics don't believe we can know there's a God.

What word can we use to describe someone who really doesn't care whether or not there's a God?

    Acarist? Aheedist?

I actually consider myself a very religious person, as a Unitarian Universalist, but I'm often faltering when asked about the existance of a God, because it's simply not a matter I give much thought, nor do I consider it particularly very important. It seems everyone MUST have an opinion on the subject. I really don't care, but I'd like to know what word there is for that philosophy.

So what word can describe my belief on this matter?

  • Why do people say Barack Obama is the most liberal Senator, when he's rated among the most conservative?

Conservative interest groups rated Obama # 31 most liberal.

    http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Se...

They rated Chris Dodd, Sheldon Whitehouse and Amy Klobuchar as the 3 most liberal Senators, with Hillary Clinton at # 23 and Joe Lieberman at # 33.

Liberal interest rated Barack Obama # 42nd most liberal, Hillary Clinton # 38 and Joe Lieberman at # 44.

They rated Ben Cardin, Russ Feingold and Bob Menendez the 3 most liberal Senators.

    http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Se...

Conservative groups call Dodd, Whitehouse and Klobuchar the most liberal.

Liberal groups call Cardin, Feingold and Menendez the most liberal.

If Obama is really the most liberal:

    1. What specific liberal legislation did Barack Obama vote for, that Dodd, Whitehouse, Klobuchar, Cardin, Feingold or Menendez vote against?

    2. What specific conservative legislation did Barack Obama vote against, that Dodd, Whitehouse, Klobuchar, Cardin, Feingold or Menendez vote for?

If you cannot answer that, you cannot prove Obama is more liberal than those 6 Senators.

  • John McCain's spiritual advisors are more offensive than Reverend Wright! Does that bother you?

Does it bother you that John McCain's spiritual advisers, with statements just as offensive as Reverend Wrights, statements John McCain HAS NOT condemned, are NOT getting the press Reverend Wright is?

Reverend John Hagee who said that the Catholic church is a cult and the "Great whore" in Revelation 17. On Hurricane Katrina, Hagee said, "I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that."

John McCain said, "All I can tell you is that I am very proud to have Pastor John Hagee's support."

Another of John McCain's supporters Reverend Rod Parsley is calling for a Christian jihad, waging war aimed at destroying the "false religion" Islam and killing as many Muslims as possible.

Quotes include "I just love to talk about your money. Let me be very clear -- I want your money. I deserve it. This church deserves it." and “Poverty is a sin! Because God told you to multiply!" Not exactly Christs teachings!
