  • 37 weeks pregnant... having contractions.. but not feeling them?

Ok, I'm 37 weeks pregnant with my second child... I've been having 'braxton hicks' contractions for the last month or so that I've noticed.

The last two days I've had rather watery discharge, a lot of back pain, and can feel my uterus tightening. The back pain is constant, whether I'm having a contraction or not, and do not go away if I change position etc.

I'm supposed to be having a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks. I go in twice a week for NST's at the hospital. Last night I had two contractions but they sent me home.

Do you think this could be the early signs of labor? The contractions are getting more frequent and seemingly more powerful even though I only feel them in my back aside from tightening in my uterus, but they are not 5-10 min apart yet.....and this watery discharge only has happened three times today when sitting down in my computer chair.

  • If the court ordered my father not to contact me and awarded my mom sole custody....?

Mind you this is not an actual restraining order.

When I was 16 my father gave up parental rights to me, making my mom sole custodian. I'm an adult now. In the court order it states that he is not to contact me or my mom by phone or in person and that I as a teenager had sole discretion over when I wanted to see him.

Being as I am an adult now, does the court order still have effect on him not being allowed to contact us?

  • Paragard/Copper IUD question?

I am currently 33 weeks 6 days pregnant with my second child. My first is 19 months old and he was born via emergency c-section. My second will be born via c-section as well because I am not a good candidate of a VBAC due to some health issues.

Anyways, I was just wondering how many women have had the copper IUD and how well it has worked for them? I want a long term form of birth control that I don't have to worry too much about.

I'm a little worried about getting an IUD after having two c-sections.... anyone have a c-section and get an IUD afterwards?

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks!

(And yes, I will be speaking with my DR more about this at my next appointment)

  • Thinking about getting a tattoo removed?

Ok, so I made a stupid mistake when I was 17 and got a tattoo of some musical notes on my lower stomach... it goes from hip to hip and is only an outline.. Since, I've had one child, and one that is due this July, its gotten a little stretched out to say the least. I've been debating between getting it removed or just getting it covered up, but due to its size and the fact it is a black outline, i'm afraid it may look a bit masculine to get it covered.

Has anyone had success with tattoo removal?

Does it really hurt more than getting it done initially?

    Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Do I need a birth plan for a scheduled c-section?

My first baby was born by c-section, and it wasn't quite planned that way... This time, my Dr recommended I go ahead with another c-section because of some complications I've had in the past and because my children will only be about 20 months apart.

I was just wondering if I should have a birth plan for my c-section? What goes into a birth plan?

  • Sold a car 2 years ago... collections is coming after me? (new details)?

"I sold a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder almost 2 years ago. Turns out it got towed in October of 2009. I received a letter in the mail from a collections agency stating I owe them almost $3,000 in storage and towing costs because I'm the last known owner... Also turns out that the SUV had already been auctioned off. Can they still come after me for these costs? I don't have the bill of sale anymore because it's been so long (lesson learned on that one). What can I do to get this off of my back??"

Ok, that was my original question.. Since I asked that, I found out that the vehicle was towed by metro because it was in an accident. I also found out that in the state of Nevada (where I live) only when you get your license plates, are you actually liable for the vehicle. (DMV worker told me that) Also, the state of Nevada does not require a signed and notarized bill of sale for transfer of ownership of a vehicle. Also, the guy I sold it to (who I just recently spoke with) says he sold it to another guy shortly after buying it from me.

My question is, since the car got picked up by Metro police because it was in an accident, shouldn't the person driving it be held responsible? Can I hold that person responsible if I can find out exactly who it was?

I never registered the Pathfinder because I found out all the issues it had. I insured it for the month span I had it and sold it right after because I didn't have time to deal with the issues (bent frame...etc, the guy I sold it to knew about all of the issues)

  • Why is it so important to be married in order to have children?

I'm just curious as to why most everyone thinks that you HAVE to be married in order to have children? Why can't you just be in a comfortable and reliable relationship with someone that you live with? Marriage doesn't guarantee a stable home-life for a child. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against marriage. I just don't understand why there is a need to be married to have children. Is it religious views? The need to feel validated under law? What?? Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

  • 1 hour Gest. Diabetes test today.. Felt really dizzy after drinking the fluid?

Ok, so I had my gestational diabetes test today (I tested for this kinda late cause i'm already a little over 30 weeks) and after drinking that fluid they give you I felt really dizzy and almost threw up about ten minutes after drinking it.. I don't remember this happening the first time I did the test with my first pregnancy. The symptoms cleared up after about 30 minutes of waiting. I'm wondering if this is a sign that I have gestational diabetes?? I don't have another appointment with my OB until the 18th.. Just looking for a little insight on how others felt with this test and what their results were.. Thanks!

  • How to get a cat that's not afraid of water to stop sleeping in the sink?

I have a very strange cat... he loves to sleep in my bathroom sink. Especially when I need to use the sink. Problem is, even if I turn the water on him full blast, he won't get out of it without me picking him up and taking him out.

    Any suggestion?

  • Are these reasonable explanations for not allowing my father or his parents to come in contact with my kids?

    1. My father is an alcoholic that has been diagnosed with hep C and refuses to quit drinking. He also smokes marijuana on a regular basis, including when my son and I lived with him for 2 short months just recently, inside the home.

    2. My father gave up rights to me when I was 16.

    3. I receive phone calls every day from his mother (my grandparents that he lives with) telling me I need to speak with my father, though I've made many attempts to have a relationship with him in the past and they have ALL failed.

    4. My father threatens suicide on a regular basis when he is not receiving the attention he believes he deserves.

    5. My grandmother loves to bring up the past things I have done (under 18) as far as not wanting to have anything to do with them before my father gave up custody.

    6. My father has an abusive past, but no arrest record.

    7. I have been called derogatory names in the past by my father for getting pregnant with my first child.

    8. My father didn't care to be there for my first pregnancy, nor when my mother was pregnant for me.

    9. My father and his parents also refuse to accept my fiance (the father of both of my children) as a part of my life and constantly tell me how he's a horrible person, though he has always provided for me and our children the best he could.

  • Does my father have rights over my children?

I understand grandparents have certain rights when it comes it their grandchildren.

But, if my father gave up all parental rights to me when I was 16, does he still have those rights over his grandkids?

This is in the state of Nevada.

  • Almost 28 weeks with shooting pains in my cervix?

Ok, my first pregnancy I had a c-section (October of 2008)... I am almost 28 weeks along now and within the last few days have been feeling a lot of pulling and stretching from where my scar is. It's not horribly painful, it's just uncomfortable. Recently I've been experiencing shooting pains in my cervix (or the area around them). I don't remember having pains like this until I was around 33-34 weeks with my first.. Anyone else experience this? What did you do to ease the pains?

  • My 18 month old won't eat without there being a ton of distractions?

My 18 month old son refuses to eat and throws screaming fits unless he's got multiple toys, a video, and me talking to him. Any suggestions on ways to cut down the distractions and get him to enjoy meal time a little more without the fits?

  • Buying an 18 month old boy a play cooking set....?

My 18 month old son has recently started displaying a real interest in copying what I do in the kitchen. He plays with bowls and spoons and pretends to mix things and pour stuff into other containers.. I was just wondering if it would be appropriate to buy him a play cooking set (maybe even a fake grill??)?

  • How much is too much vitamin C during pregnancy?

Long story short, one of my main cravings so far during this pregnancy is orange juice... (I'm 27 weeks along). I drank about 3 glasses of it last night within a period of I'd say about 5 hours.. Next thing I know is I'm up most of the night running to the bathroom due to my bowels (sorry, I know that's gross).

Can this cause harm to my baby? I'm planning on asking my OB next time I see him in a week or so. I just need some insight from others.

  • My 18 month old isn't expressing any interest in actually talking....?

My 18 month old son does not seem to want to start really talking.. He says a few things such as juice, car, kitty..etc. Everything else is still pure jibber-jabber. I've sat down with him and pointed out objects and when he hands me things or i hand them back i tell him what they are..he just looks me right in the face and says something not even close to what I am trying to get him to say. He understands a lot of what I tell him, especially 'no' since that's become a new favorite due to his new and improved climbing skills.. Everything else is fine with him, good height, good weight, walking, running, sleeping through the night, he just doesn't seem to have any interest in speaking any other language than his own.

Any suggestions on getting him to really talk more?

  • Do you think its possible to control pregnancy hormones?

I am almost 27 weeks pregnant with my second child (my first is only 1 and a half right now).. My first pregnancy I don't remember having much emotional effects from pregnancy hormones... Unfortunately, I'm driving my husband crazy this time around... I don't cry sporadically or anything.. I just get overwhelmingly angry or lonely feeling.

Do you think its possible to get more control over your emotions while pregnant? I'm sure having a hard time doing it!
