2 AnswersSoftware5 years agoA while ago I posted this question. Have you had this experience?
This happened in Miami, Florida. I am a dark skinned black female. I was helping a relative move.
One night I parked my relatives' car across the family's street. Then walked into the lot and opened my the door to my rental. I took boxes out of the car. Because of experiences I've had in Florida in the past - I was wearing a regular blouse and slacks. No jeans, because casual dress results in very negative responses - especially in towns like Miami.
A young Hispanic male approached me along with a very young girl. I thought she might be 6 or so.
The young man asked "Is this your car?" I replied "Yes"
He asked me again "Is this your car?" I replied again "Yes"
Then he said "no, because first you came out of that car and now you're in this one."
I replied "If you think I'm doing something wrong with this car, call the police." and started to walk away.
He started to say something else. I interrupted him and said again but loudly "If you think I'm doing something wrong with this car, call the police"
The young girl yelled loudly at me. "*****!"
I looked at her and said "No, YOU"RE the *****!"
The young man Hispanic male looked at me and said "Shut the f** up. We have the right to know what's going on in our neighborhood."
My response was "I have to shut the f** up? I didn't come into YOUR world demanding answers from you. I was minding my own business."
My impression of this situation is that: If one is black in Florida - it's apparently our responsibility to answer to the interrogations of any Hispanic males that happen by.
Has anyone had this experience?
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture8 years agoAnyone been getting multiple calls from random, unknown numbers?
When you answer there's no one on the other end, the call immediately hangs up.
Sometimes instead, there is a garbled message asking you to accept a collect call?
I think this is has been targeting google numbers - I 've been hearing most complaints from Android and google voice users?
I just wonder what's the point? What are they after?

1 AnswerSecurity8 years agoWalking down the street, teachers/ daycare workers know &approach the kid but ignore the adult with the child?
I've had this experience a few times. An adult who knows the child I'm with will stop and speak to the child and completely ignore me. Usually a woman, probably from the kid's school or daycare. Granted the adults didn't know me - we'd never met.
On occasions when I had to approach my young relatives while the child was in the care of an adult I'd never met - I said hello to my nephew, neice etc, then immediately introduced myself to and greeted the adult careperson.
Have you been on either end of this? Maybe I have some view of the social protocol that most don't?

3 AnswersEtiquette9 years agoTo ladies who are black and have unprocessed hair, here's a situation I face:?
I know lots of women love wigs - others don't but find them no big deal. Personally, I hate wearing one just as much as I hate processing my hair. At this point, it seems I may need one to get a job.
Is it ok to wear a wig to the interview but not to the job? Have you done this and how did it work out? I'm willing to drag myself to a wig shop, kicking and screaming - but I'm looking not to wear those things daily.
I'm trying to gauge the likelyhood that I'll find myself in front of HR.
Thank you so much for any experience you may share.

It's not a version of Isaac in my experience. I've encountered it as a woman's first name.

1 AnswerLanguages9 years agoScam question: Anyone ever get an email from a so called company named "Crystal Herbal Laboratories"?
This scam is more sophisticated than others I've seen in the past - there's a weblink and pages that actually look credible at first glance. Troubling to wonder what's next?: Will we all have to 'trust no-one'?
