Rudolph R N Reindeer (minor) is being represented by his parents in a suit against his employer, North Pole International Industries (NPII) for relief of hostile working conditions. NPII, LLC is a corporation wholly owned by Mr. S. Claus, registered in North Pole, AK.

JURISDICTION: United States District Court of Alaska, Ninth Circuit.

THE CASE: The complaint alleges that eight full time employees of NPII: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen, would “laugh” at the minor plaintiff, “and call him names,” and would furthermore allegedly not allow him to participate in any “reindeer games.”

Rudolph R N Reindeer was diagnosed at birth as having a bright red nose, which makes him a protected class under the RDA (Reindeer With Disabilities Act), thus falling under Federal jurisdiction.

Mr. S. Claus denies knowledge of any hostile working conditions with regards to the Plaintiff, and claims that that any alleged reindeer games conducted during off-hours are outside the scope of employment of his business.

Under Master/Servant doctrine, S. Claus is being named as a co-defendant in the suit along with the above mentioned eight (8) reindeer under his employ.

The Plaintiffs seek unspecified damages, including, but not limited to, relief of hostile working conditions of their minor child.

My brother recently adopted a 1 yr old female German Shepard named Daisy, and I am looking forward to meeting her for the first time this weekend.

As all humans have a unique scent to dogs, will Daisy be able to tell my brother and I are genetically related? I would think similar DNA makes for similar scents. What are your thoughts?

I've seen this: action in front of the net, goalie falls totally out of the crease, and a defenseman replaces him in the goal for a few seconds before the goalie gets back in.

Does the defenseman have the same protection rules of the crease normally afforded to a goalie at that time, or does he not?

#2: If the defenseman stops a shot while in the crease, does that count as a save, or will the scoresheet accounting (SOG - G = Saves) be off by one?

Which team is the best right now (they are very close) and has the best future potential, so youth (future staying power) is also a consideration. I know no one can predict future injuries, trades and free agency. We will be replaying the 13-14 season when the stats come out, with the usual Stanley playoff rounds

Also, as a supplement, we get to draft (and keep) three of ANY team's marginal players (including the East) who were not on the 13-14 opening day roster, so some diamond in the rough help there would be appreciated :) Currently injured players are eligible as long as they played one NHL game this yr.

According to their respective Wiki sites, both STATS LLC and Elias Sports Bureau claim to be the "official statisticians" of Major League Baseball.

If there is a conflict in their compilations, which does MLB count as official?

Elias is the grandaddy of statistics for baseball, going back to about 1919. STATS didn't come along until 1981, but has been very aggressive in marketing its sports statistics service, and is the official statistician (from what I can tell) of the NFL, NBA, and hockey. But baseball?? Not sure. I understand Bill James uses STATS for his stats, but that is neither here nor there.

Did they usurp Elias, or is Elias still the ruling statistical body for MLB?

DEFINITION OF GOAL: Must the puck only touch any part of the goal line (like in football) or must the entire puck pass the goal line?

ASSIST: Scenario: Passer A passes the puck to shooter 1. Shooter 1 shoots the puck on goal. The shot bounces off the goalie's pads, and Shooter 2 knocks in the rebound in front of the net.

Does Passer A and/or Shooter 1 get an assist, or does Shooter 2 get an unassisted goal?

PROTECTION OF CREASE: Alexander Ovechkin scores against Slovakia. Both his skates are inside the blue semi circle as he shoots and scores. He hits the goalie so hard, he knocks the goalie backward into the pipes and dislodges the goal, and the goal counts. It was on the Olympic highlights and the commentators didn't mention anything that was out of order.

What protections does the semi circle of the crease give the goalie? I thought the crease protects the goalie from getting cleaned out like that?

Third baseman goes into the hole to field a grounder and makes an awkward side arm throw to first. The one hopper takes an odd bounce and the first baseman traps the throw, holding it against his stomach with the outside of his glove.

The trapped throw beats the batter/runner.

Does the first baseman have possession, and is this a putout? This situation occurred at a game I was watching.

I live in Wisconsin, US, and saw a bright red Cardinal and his dusky mate in a tree in my yard by my window. In 20 yrs I have never seen a Cardinal in my yard so deep into the winter -- especially this winter which has been very hard.

Why do some pairs stay behind? They usually migrate and I don't see them come back to the upper midwest until late March. Like I said I haven't seen this in 20 yrs.

Anyway, my tastes run to the semi-sweet to sweet range. I find most dry wines too brackish. Ack.

My request is, would someone please list some semi-sweet to sweet wines by general category (Chardonnay, Riesling, etc) that would fall into the sweeter half of the spectrum?

For reference, I think Spaetlese or Auslese (sp?) hit the spot for me. I guess I like German white wines.

We often forget the pre-roids Bonds was a *very* good baseball player, especially early career with Pittsburgh, during which I believe he was clean.

A newlywed friend of mine has a wife he loves but an abusive mother-in-law he detests. She called him at his job and told him she had just swallowed a bottle of pills. He had to leave work and call emergency responders who found her semi-conscious and ultimately revived her with a trip to the hospital.

I don't believe this was her first suicide attempt, and she is not above such drastic measures to manipulate her environment.

My question is, does anyone have a duty to act? What if he said he was very sorry...and hung up, and she was found dead the next morning.

What if he looked at his phone caller ID, noticed it was her, didn't feel like talking to her and her call at this critical moment went to voice mail? I told this friend I would have been *overwhelmed* by the temptation to rid myself of this problem once and for all.

So, duty or no duty? Thoughts, please, both moral and legal.
