  • Should I plan Birthday Party Activities?

My son is turning 1 in November. For his party (farm theme), I plan to invite all of the 7 children that he attends daycare with (they love him and attend each others' birthdays regularly). The children range in age from 2 to 11. Should I plan activities for them? If so, what kind of games are appropriate for children of those varying ages?

  • Salary Range for a Real Estate Transaction Coordinator?

I am applying for a position as a Transaction & Marketing Coordinator for a team of 6 or 7 Realtors. About 3 years ago, I worked as a Transaction Coordinator before I relocated, so I have plenty of experience, although not in the state of Maryland. I am trying to determine what salary range would be appropriate for the position. My previous position was in a slower, cheaper market with a transaction-based pay structure; whereas this would be full-time assisting in a better area; so, it is hard to figure out what the appropriate range would be. Thoughts?

  • Should my husband know .... ?

My best friend is married to my husband's cousin. Unfortunately, their marriage has been having (for about 6 months) difficulties and two weeks ago she (the cousin) moved out of their home and in with my husband and I (to begin their separation). Tonight, he (my bf) caught her red-handed going into a hotel with another man (we all had a feeling she was cheating). He called me to talk him down and get advice on what he should do. He took my advice not to approach them directly and called her via cell. She knows that he will contact me and I will tell my husband (her cousin) what is going on. The problem is that she lives with us. Although, I am bf with her soon to be Ex and am extremely disappointed in her actions, I have no problem with her remaining at my home (as a temporary residence) since she is my husband's family. I can distance myself that it is not my marriage and separate the two without much problem. Both his cousin and my bf know they are putting us in an awkward position; but, there isn't much they can change about that currently.

I know a lot of the details of their relationship; but, I have chosen not to tell my husband everything that I know because I don't want him to be in any more of an awkward position than he already is. Also, because of our relationships, he will automatically support his cousin & I will support my friend.

Should I tell him everything that I know or keep him in the dark?

  • Should I choose my friend or his family?

My husband and I live next to his cousin, Claire, and her husband, Dave. Dave and I commute to work together and are good friends. Unfortunately, Claire & Dave are having marriage problems. Dave has told me his side of everything (Claire had an affair) and the way things are going, they will most likely be getting a divorce.

My hubby and I were discussing it the other day and he basically told me that if they do get a divorce that he will support his cousin and wouldn't want me to commute/hang-out with Dave anymore. I am much closer to him than to his wife and don't feel I should cut him out of my life because it's not his fault she cheated. My hubby doesn't seem to understand since to him family comes first no matter what.

  • Need Snow Thrower Suggestions?

My parents live in MI and get a lot of snow over the winter. They've always wanted a snow thrower; so this year, I would like to buy them one. They live out in the country and have a gravel/dirt driveway (3 cars wide, about 50 feet long) that would be the primary use of the thrower. I can't afford to buy them an expensive machine; but, want to buy something that won't die on them the first winter that they use it and gets the job done.

Any suggestions for brand or type that is good?

  • How to fix Poor Toilet Suction?

All 3 toilets (2 downstairs/1 upstairs) in my house have horrible suction. I've owned the house for a little more than a month and nobody lived here previously. It doesn't matter if you flush nothing down the toilets...when you flush them the water in the bowl goes very high and then slowly gets sucked down until it is lower than the average water height.

Plunging does nothing because there appears to be no clog/back-up causing the issue.

All the toilets are 2007 Kohler-brand models.

  • Cylinder 4 Misfire Cause?

I have a 2000 Ford Focus ZTS. My check engine light came on (it blinks sporadically too). My mechanic did a diagnostic check on it and it said "Cylinder 4 misfire" (code: P0304).

The issue began a couple weeks ago; when the car would suddenly "jump" forward while driving. It does not have trouble starting or stall out. It is typically when the car is going about 35-50 mph that it misfires.

What are the most likely causes of the misfire and how expensive is it to fix?

  • Need Help with a Recipe (Creamy Chicken Bake)?

I lost a recipe after I had purchased the supplies for it and am looking for an alternative or similar one that requires the same ingredients. It's fine with me if it's a casserole, crockpot meal, or skillet.

The main ingredients I have are as follows:

Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts (1 lb.)

Cream of Chicken soup (1 10 oz. can)

    Bowtie Pasta

    Broccoli Florets

    Grated Mild Cheddar Cheese

Crispy Bacon (to crumble on top)

    All ideas are welcome!

  • DIY - Hanging Window Treatments?

I just bought a new house; but, there are no window coverings (or fittings) existing. I would like to hang curtains and perhaps blinds in the windows; but, I don't know how to measure appropriately so that the rod is well-placed and the curtains are long enough. Any advice?

  • Differences of Opinion in Home Buying?

My husband and I are in the process of counter offering on a home.

The house was listed at $339,900 and we offered $308,800. We anticipated being counter offered. The seller came back after 52 hours with a counter of $337,000 (his agent mentioned to ours that if he goes any lower he'll be bringing money to closing). My husband wants to counter offer again with $322,000 but I think that he's missing the point of negotiations. He is a very strategically minded man and to him it's kind of a game he's playing with the sellers. My husband is stubborn that the seller will negotiate won't even consider that the seller might just reject our offer so that he doesn't take a big financial hit trying to offload his property. I don't want to play around though. I want to make a serious offer instead that's closer to what we will end up paying in the end.

Dealing with my spouse is almost as nerve-wrecking as dealing with the seller. Advice on how to deal?

  • Typical wait on counter offer?

I submitted an offer on a property about 48 hours ago. We have not received a counter-offer or anything back from the sellers yet. How long should we wait to hear back before I have my Realtor tell them to move it or loose it?

  • Real Estate Agent Tricks?

I recently put in an offer on a home that has been on the market for almost a year due to the seller's initially asking for too much on the property, especially for the area which does not sell quickly. The home was finally reduced into my price range and I quickly wrote an offer.

The sellers agent told my agent that they have another offer coming in and we should be getting a counter offer soon. To me, while there is a small possibility that they are getting 2 offers in, this sounds like a trick to get more money out of us.

Are sellers/agents allowed to lie about getting in other offers?

  • Choosing Between Two Homes?

My hubby and I found 2 homes that we like within 2 blocks of each other with a very small price difference. Both have different things that we like about them (big back yard & jacuzzi tub vs. all new appliances & fixtures) and things we'd need to change (1 needs new carpeting and the other needs a fenced in yard).

How do you make a big decision between 2 houses you like, which one to buy?

  • Buying a Home in NoVA?

I'm a first-time home buyer and already have a good faith estimate from my chosen lender for an FHA loan. Now, my hubby and I are looking into buying a home in Northern Virginia but there are SO many areas in and around the beltway that we can't seem to narrow it down.

We want a decent commute, good school district, and as much home as we can get for our money. Any suggestions on where we should look/not look?

  • How much soil should I buy?

I am re-potting a plant that I've adopted. The new container is about 12" diameter x 12" tall and contains a snake plant/mother-in-law's tongue (about 3' tall).

Because of my location and a small selection, the only soil option that I have is Miracle Grow Potting Mix (8 Qt. bags). I have no idea how many to purchase though.

    Please help.

  • Pregnancy Tests...accurate enough to tell mom?

Yesterday was the first day of my missed period. I bought a First Response home pregnancy test and it came out that I was pregnant but the pink line was very light. So today, I took a different kind of home pregnancy test and it too indicated that I was pregnant. I've heard that women can have multiple positive tests but not be pregnant. I don't want to get my hopes and my family's hopes up if they are incorrect. Should I wait and go get a blood test from my doctor or are these tests a clear sign that I'm pregnant?

    Thoughts?

  • Creative Way To Tell Him I'm Pregnant?

I'm pretty sure I'm pregnant (1st pregnancy test was positive). I'm waiting a couple days to take the second for confirmation.

I'm trying to come up with good ways to tell my husband that we are expecting. We've been trying since November for our first child and I want to make it special.
