“I'm barely prolific and incredibly lazy.” -My man, Tom Petty.

  • New music or old music?

I was just noticing that there seems to be two types of people on Y!A: people who like newer music (My Chemical Romance,The Shins, 50 Cent, Rage Against The Machine, etc.) and people who like old music (Pink Floyd, Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, The Rolling Stones, etc.)

Which do you personally prefer? Whatever genre you like, do you like music that is more recent or older, and why?

  • Music suggestions?

I'm looking for some music suggestions. Give me the band that not even your most hardcore music-nut friend has heard of!

I love classic rock, like Bob Dylan, The Stones, Tom Petty, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, The Band, etc. But I also like old punk like the Clash and Wreckless Eric, and newer stuff like The Fratellis, Joanna Newsom Kaiser Chiefs, Abigail Washburn The Decemeberists, and The Kooks.

If you have taste even remotely similar to me, please give me some suggestions! I love finding good music, but the radio has been a bit lacking recently.

    Thank you!

  • What do you think will be considered "Classic Rock" in 20-30 years time?

I really see very few artists that I can imagine enduring like The Who, Pink Floyd, The Zep, etc have, but 25 years from now, there's going to have to be some "oldies". What music of today do you think will still have staying power in 30 years?

  • What is your favorite supergroup?

The Traveling Wilburys get it for me hands down.

Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Orbison... It's almost too much awesome for one band.

  • Is it really illegal to drive barefoot?

I was recently pulled over for a busted taillight, and after the usual drill, the cop noted my bare feet, and warned me that in the future I should be wearing shoes, because "less lenient officers would have issued a citation" for driving barefoot, especially on the highway.

Is this a real law? I've been driving barefoot ever since I learned to drive, and I've never heard anything about this. Why is it illegal to drive without shoes?

  • Paper recovery! Please help!!!?

    Someone please help me.

I was about 2 pages away from finishing a 15 page, 12 pt. font essay when the screen of my computer went blue, with white text and shut down. I opened it back up, and the computer gave me a message that said something to the effect of "Your computer has experienced a serious error" and asked me to report it to windows. I opened word, and went to the open file folder, but my paper wasn't there. There was a document with the name of my paper, but it was BLANK...

Please help me. I have spent days on this essay. I was two hours from finishing, but if I can't find it I'll have to pull an all-nighter and ditch school tomorrow to get it in on time. Please, if you have any idea, ANY IDEA, of how I could get this paper back let me know. I really need help. If you have any questions about what happened, post them in your answer and I'll add more info in the details.. Please help me if you can. Please.

  • What's the coolest thing you've ever found in the trash?

My friends and I must have found 400 incredible vinyl records put out in the trash behind Half Price Books today. It's amazing, the things that some people throw away!

  • More influential, Elvis or The Beatles?

Hi, I'm having a kind of debate with a friend right now, because she thinks that The Beatles had a greater influence on popular music, and I think that Elvis did. The way I see it, The Beatles would not have existed if not for the road that Elvis paved for them.

I personally think that The Beatles, especially with their later stuff, made better music, but I think that Elvis was more influential overall. What are your thoughts, and why?

  • What was this Russian thing I ate?

Hello, I was at this little Russian store last week, and I ordered this little thing that was pretty much the best thing I've ever tasted, but I don't for the life of me remember what it was.

It looked like a big bread roll on the outside, but on the inside it was filled with mushrooms and onions and probably other stuff. I think that the name was kind of similar to the word "pirogies" but it wasn't pirogies.

I have no idea what this thing was, I really just pointed to it on the plate. Does anyone know? A recipe would be great if you have it.
