  • i cannot set the optimal resolution for my laptop?

    i connected a second monitor to my laptop and it worked fine, but now the resolution has changed on my laptop. i went to the display settings and tried to change it back to the optimal resolution, but everytime i do, it just goes to the worst resolution. every other resolution works fine, just not the optimal resolution.

    the resolution was always set to the optimal, but now it wont let me. do you know what i can do to fix this?

    i have windows vista.

  • if you could start your life over with the knowledge you have now...?

    say if you woke up one day and realized you went back in time. you are now 10 years old but you have kept all of your current knowledge. what would you do differently in life?

    if that happened to me, the biggest change would be my education. i would wait a few years and then try to continue with my engineering degree, but at a young age. imagine the amount of support and scholorships a 12 year old would get by being in university. the second change would be my fitness. third change would be my love life. i would still try to make some of the same friends though.

  • what D&D character am i?

    im trying to decide this, but i guess my biggest obstacle is that i dont know enough about my options.

    i am an engineering student, so i value intelligence, creativity, and systematic/algorithmic thinking. i consider myself to be very kind and helpful to my friends. i am sort of shy and dont get to know many people, but once i gain a friend, they come to love me easily. i am also quiet and sneaky when i want to be. i have good morals and i try to do the right thing.

    my main form of exercise comes from exploring new places, more specifically the wilderness. i also have a good sense of direction. i spend most of my time learning or studying. for fun, i like to play hacky sack and do some programming. i also love water. i have spent all my life in and on it, and i am studying naval architectural engineering.

    if i were to choose a fighting style i would say that i dislike close up combat. i prefer to keep my distance and try to take control of the situation and the environment around me. perhaps even try to avoid having to fight at all.

    so what race, class, etc. am i?

    My Answers:

    - i would be a water bender. i have lived on and in the water all my life and i love it. im going to be a naval architect when i graduate. also, water is just the most powerful anyway :P

    - i would be an elf. im not sure what kind though. they are majestic, peaceful, and intelligent. they also make great blacksmiths. also, elven babes....

    - i would be a sea horse. they live in the water, and they are pretty much endangered, so humans are unlikely to kill them, and they are just so beautiful.

    - i would play the ocarina. i have a couple already but i cant get the chance to really learn it more than i have. i love them. one ocarina i have is called the muse. it sounds as beautiful as it looks.

    - a bun with fried salmon, mashed potatoes, korn, and pickles. yum

  • is subway bad for you?

    i have been eating a lot of subway recently and i was told that it is actually bad for you because of processed foods and stuff. what if i am eating only veggie subs? i usually get a footlong with a little bit of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, green pepper, lots of pickles, hot peppers, jalapeno peppers, spinach, mustard and hot sauce on a honey oat bread.

    the worst thing in it is bread and cheese, but thats not so bad right?

  • do you think footbag (or hacky sack) can be a good workout?

    i have been playing all of my life and im playing more than ever now. i usually go for a walk/jog every day and while im doing so, i play footbag. it is much more challenging and fun to play while progressing forward. and i have noticed that doing this greatly improved my skill. when i am in one place, i am much better at it than i was before i started doing it while walking/jogging.

    anyway, i kind of got off topic. my question is whether it is or isnt a good source of exercise. it definitely improves flexibility, concentration, and coordination, but what about in terms of weight loss.

    sometimes if i play for an extended period i get muscle pains at my core, so i guess my core muscles are involved as well as my legs.

    i guess in order to answer the question you need to know my skill level and what i am capable of doing. i cannot do any of that crazy stuff you see on youtube. just the basic kicks and a couple other things, but i am able to continue with it for a while.

    so here is my daily (week days) schedule and meal plan:

    0500 wake up and go for a walk (6.5 km at 4.333 km/hr. also playing footbag as i walk)

    0800 go to work

    1600 leave work, free for 4 hours

    2000 sleep

    the 4 hours i have free i can do something extra as well, such as walk some more, footbag, rollerblading, i have also started mountain biking with a friend and if trends continue, i will be going once or twice every week for a couple hours a time.

    on the weekends i volunteer at a thrift store which involves me walking around the store for about 3 hours or so. i am also going to try to go kayaking a few weekends. other than that i will go hiking or for a long walk and footbag.

    meal plan:

    0500 banana, milk, 1 scoop whey protein, multivitamins, omega 3

    0700 1 cup oats, 2 slice whole grain toast with pb, 2 egg whites, 2 whole eggs

    1200 chicken breast, 1 cup brown rice, 1 cup spinach

    during my free 4 hours: either a subway footlong veggie sub (LOTS of veggies) or (chicken breast, half of a large sweet potato, 1 cup of brocolli)

    if im hungry in the night: 1 slice whole grain bread with pb, or a carrot

    also i put franks hot sauce on a lot of the food that i eat. is that bad? sodium?
