What is a staple food crop that is harvested in the fall?
I'm writing a story and the opening scene calls for the main character to be harvesting a crop in about September or October. This isn't an important story point, but I'd like to get an accurate crop. I went with Corn originally, but that harvests around midsummer. I thought wheat but that's a spring harvest. This is a fantasy story, so any crop that fits the required harvest time will work.
