1 AnswerLanguages4 years agoBudget Tokyo Tours during a Layover under $150 ?
The original plan was US-Manila trip with friends with a 4 day layover in Japan early 2017. Sadly due to unforeseen circumstances I may just be traveling alone.
I decided that I still wanted to do a 2-3 day layover in Tokyo Japan. This will be the first time I will be travelling alone in Japan so Im naturally excited and scared. I plan to stay at a nearby hotel by Narita Airport that offers free shuttle back to the airport.
Here is my question. I plan to stay about 3days/2 nights. Day 1 is reserved for arrival & sleep , Day 2 to do a bit of sightseeing and Day 3 is to prepare for my flight back. I basically have the whole of Day 2 to go around.
I want to find a good discount day tour or bus tour to Tokyo. Most of the sites I looked at were asking for 35,000Y or $300. Thats too much.
Im planning only to spend 18,000Y or $150 max on a tour plus an extra 4000Y for food, small snacks and souveniers.
I dont mind if the tour is only 4-5 hours short. A city tour of Downtown Tokyo or Akihabara/Shinjuku will be great since I want to get back to the hotel and pack the souveniers and rest early for my flight the next day
I pretty much just want to do small shops but Kitkats, take photos, nothing too extravagant.
Can any one recommend a good budget tour package coming from Narita Airport or its nearby hotels?
I am sure I will be struggling a bit with the train system so a pick up from a hotel/airport will be better
4 AnswersJapan4 years agoRecommendations for a Japanese Ryokan/Inn in Haneda area and rates?
Planning a vacation in 2017 and starting to plan for how much we are spending.
Looking to do at least 1 day Ryokan experience.
Any suggestion for a good budget Ryokan inn near the Haneda area and best way to get there.
Also an estimate for rates (tax included ) will be appreciated
1 AnswerJapan5 years agoJapan, Tokyo airport transfers, pickups and taxi rates?
Lately I've been posting a lot of questions here in Yahoo Answers for a planned trip to Japan in 2017. There will be 3 of us travelling. We are staying for 4D/3Nights in Tokyo preferably near Haneda or Shinjuku area.
Between the 3 of us we would be carrying at least 4-5 pcs of luggage (thats the check ins + carry ons)
Making this highly inconvenient when we travel from Narita or Haneda airport train or commuter bus to Shinjuku. Plus we have some language barriers so last thing we want is to get lost on a train system we arent familiar with I need help on the following.
1. Is there a airport pick up service that can meet us in either Haneda or Narita that can take us directly to our hotel or to Shinjuku (excluding airport hotels with free shuttle). If yes how much are normally the rates?
Any suggestions of a good company that does airport pick up
2. How much would a taxi service cost?
3. (Last resort) How much would a car rental cost? (My friend has an international drivers lisc)
Thanks for all your help
5 AnswersJapan5 years agoLuggage storage in Japan, Tokyo/Haneda area?
Am planning a trip for 3 for next year to Japan. We will be staying for 4 days 3 nights then will hop a plane to the Philippines (we are flying form California)
Is there a place we can store our luggage for 2 days at least?
Is there an airport luggage storage. Each of us will be carrying 2 check in suitcases/bags and 1 carry on. For our short trip to Tokyo we decided to carry the needed clothes on to a small carry on.
Ideally we would leave the bigger luggage in a hotel but we may be switching up to 2 hotels and prefer to store the luggage in one place to avoid carrying it around
Any suggestions?
3 AnswersJapan5 years agoWhat are good capsule or budget hotels near Shinjuku, Japan that are Co-ed?
Can anyone refer a good capsule hotel in Japan that can take both men and women. I did a little research and most capsule hotels are either Men Only or Women only. There will be 3 of us travelling and we dont mind a capsule hotel even if the floors for men & women are separated, we just want to be in the same building.
Any suggestions for a clean and good budget hotel are greatly appreciated. (near station, maybe free WIFI)
Japan5 years agoDo hotels in Japan ask for a security hold or deposit upon check in?

Japan5 years agoFilipino Travelling to the US and Canada Visa Inquiry?
I have a question regarding travel and visa requirements when cruising from US to Canada and/or Mexico
A family of mine a Filipino Citizen is planning to visit me for a minimum or 3 weeks . She will be applying for a US Tourist visa. One of the things we plan to do is do either one of the 4 day cruise ship from Seattle that does port excursion in Victoria and British Columbia. Or do one of those 3 day cruise from Los Angeles to Cabo.
I am reading from multiple and conflicting sources about visa requirements some say a visa is required, others say they dont. Does my friend still need a Canadian Visa or Mexican Visa to be able to do shore excursions on top of her Philippine passport & US Tourist visa? Will there be other type of paperwork she will need to provide when travelling via cruise?
Some FAQ
She is a Filipino Citizen, she does have a job and financial stability- requirements she can show to the immigration officer upon visa application
She is only traveling for vacation/tourist purposes. This will be her first time traveling to the US
She is aiming to get the multiple visa entry to the US as she plans to visit as much as she can.
We appreciate your assistance with our inquiry.
1 AnswerPhilippines5 years agoUS Tourist visa from the Philippines questions & uses? Travel to Canada?
My friend from the Philippines is planning to apply for a tourist visa to allow her to visit me and some family here in the US for a few weeks.
One of the things we plan to do is do a cruise ship travel from Seattle, WA that crosses over to British Columbia, Canada during its route. Can she still use her US Visa or does she need to apply also for a Canadian tourist visa?
Same question applies for Traveling to Japan (her flight back home has a long layover in Tokyo and she wanted to do a bit of sightseeing)
Some FAQ: Friend is Filipino citizen. This will be her first tourist visa application.
Thanks for the help
3 AnswersImmigration5 years agoCan this type of issue be reported to Child Protective Services? Teacher mother possible child negligence?
I have a question in regards to reporting issues to Child Services what I suspect is child negligence. A friends brother recently divorced and shares a messy custody battle with their twin daughters now aged 14. Unfortunately one child has mental retardation and cerebral palsy and the other is acting out and is being treated for anxiety and bipolar.
Ever since the divorce neither parents seems to be too keen in really taking care of the kids especially the mother who ironically is a teacher for middle school.
Her daughters are often unclean, and I mean they smell musky like not showered for days, they are exposed to the various boyfriends the mother takes home which some of us suspects may abuse the girls. And since one daughter is bipolar, she has often called the cops on the kid to take her to some rehab just to not deal with her while she parties (as shown in the mothers Facebook account)
My friend is more worried about his niece with disabilities because she is the one who is most vulnerable but neither his brother nor the ex wife seems to legitimately care for both twins. They expect that the grandparents baby sit the children, but due to a domestic dispute- One child attacked the grandparent- she is no longer welcome in that household.
I do not know if the mothers behavior counts a child negligence and everything I see and tidbits of what I witness while the rest are hearsay from family members. I do worry about the kids since their state is getting worse each year.
2 AnswersParenting5 years agoCan anyone give me a Review on China Airlines International Flights?
I'm from California. Lately we are getting a lot of travel deals around the $780's-850 to travel from US-Manila or US to Hongkong/Beijing using China Airlines. The pricing is really good.
Normally, when I fly back to Asia I use Delta, Philippine Airlines or Korean Air- Im familiar with the seating and the service and stopover airports.
My family back in the early 90's had a horrible experience with China Airlines which discourages me to use them. I also hear that the seating is pretty compact. Im 5'4 and even though Im petite, new airline seating really makes it cramped unless I get an expensive upgrade.
The China Airlines deal are pretty good and Im seriously considering using them but would like to get an honest review, tips and expectation from recent flyers flying to Asia Internationally on what I should expect or should I just skip using them altogether?
Im also currently reviewing Yelp & TripAdvisor reviews as I am writing this.
1 AnswerAir Travel6 years agoWhat do I do with my mentally ill and bipolar "friend"?
I have a friend who works as live in caregiver & caretaker. We have since had a falling out due to her extreme bigot view and over radical of her faith but kept her in my FB to keep tabs on her(we have a huge circle of friends)
Its obvious that something is off and pretty much shows all d symptoms of a severely bipolar person.
She has at her worst stalked a guy from her old work. How she got employed as a caregiver for kids & elderly baffles me. In her FB she started bragging about a new BF she met online. Due to her past history of making up fake BFs I reached out to the guy to see if he was the real deal. And he was real, but there was something not right about their rel so I just advised him good luck. I became honest with my friend and told her I did contacted the guy to make sure he's not some internet scammer, to which she got upset and demanded I should have praised her when speaking to her BF.
Hours later the guy broke up- apparently she started ranting to him, I also found out that her mom who I also assume has some sort of mental illness has been contacting the BF pushing the marriage for shallow reasons.
I feel bad about what I did. But given her history of mental illness I felt I needed to intervene. She also often bad mouths her employer, but what worries me the most is her subtle hints of contemplating suicide. Part of me wants to just leave her be and cut her off, another part says, she is a danger to herself and possibly to others.
What should I do?

1 AnswerJapan6 years agoMost affordable month/date to go to Japan from Los Angeles?
When flying from the US what are the best months and dates to go to Japan?
Right now in March rates are average on $900
I had a friend who was able to buy a plane ticket for $750 average but this was 7 years ago.
I do notice flights that have layovers in Tokyo while connecting to another international flight are cheaper, but flying straight to Japan with the same airlines and dates are significantly more expensive -with about $100-150 value increase.
Suggestions are greatly appreciated
4 AnswersJapan6 years agoWhat months are the best lowest airfare when flying from from LA to Tokyo Japan?
I am planning a Southeast Asia trip sometime late this year, while flying to countries like Philippines around April or September seems to be the best airfare wise, I do not know when will be the best time to fly to Japan from California
I know that airline fare rates changes from year to year as well.

1 AnswerAir Travel6 years agoHow to Transfer from Narita Airport to Haneda Airport for a connecting flight during long layover.?
Im Flying to Manila sometime in October from LAX with possibly a All Nippon Airways(ANA) or United flight. Im a US Passport holder btw.
One of my flight itineraries says that I have at least a 19 hour layover upon arriving the Narita Airport but my connecting flight back to Manila is through Haneda.
I called ANA and they don't provide transfer service. They gave me a website to the Limousine Bus but it does not provide me info if they charge for fares.
I also need to know from other ppl who have done this if they checked out their luggage before?
Im worried since I do not want to get lost during my transfer. Your help is appreciated

3 AnswersJapan6 years agoHow to deal with former co worker who is still mean to me after years?
Years ago I used to work for a very prominent video game company. The work was casual and one of our mode of communication was this group messenger program where everyone can see what is being discussed- which is 80% not work related One of the participants is a Female Shift lead who would share her strong opinions on say "Harry Potter " - One time she shared a casual topic that I was very interested in at the group chat. Note the conversation has been going an hour and every one was having fun & participating. When I made an inquiry literally asking for the "Movie screening time of Film? "
She sent me a msg telling me I was unprofessional & the messenger IS RESERVED for work related ONLY. I was taken aback but being the newbie I apologized and decided to NEVER participate in the discussions unless work related.
There was really no set policy in regards to "harassment" or "preferential treatment" but decided to stay quiet. Soon I moved to a new job while at the same time still keeping my connections within the Gaming Industry.
Unfortunately, I do bump into this woman from time to time during conventions and I can still sense that hint of animosity from her.
Last I checked she is still a Lead/Manager. Sooner or later I may be working with her again & I am unsure how to deal with her. She has a leverage of having strong connections in the industry that could easily sway a negative opinion about my work and frankly Im to old to deal with this drama. How to deal?
