  • What to do about my critical friend?

so I have this "friend" who always puts me down. Whenever I am upset or come to her for advice she basically tells me to give myself a kick up the backside and get over it. But when she comes to me for help she expects a long emotional speech to help her get through her problems. Whenever i have work to do she gives me a big speech about how I need to do it, i need to stop being so lazy and just get the hell on with it, even though i have never failed to complete work before so she has no reason for this. she is always saying how lovely, and kind and nice she is when in reality she is the total opposite.

She is completely self centered and cares way to much about what other people think about her. Like making sure to smoke a cigarette when people we know are walking by.

The main thing though is just how critical she is. Practically ever conversation we have is about how i need to be better at something. How I am not good enough. After a while it really gets me down, and if i even show im a little upset she gives me some tumblr style advice and thinks she is so amazing for being so wise, when all it does is piss me off more.

On the other hand, we have spent a year with each other and we do have a kind of connection, and can sometimes have some nice conversations, which is her redeeming quality.

So what should i do? I'm sick of being treat as if im inferior to her.

  • Is it time to say goodbye to my pet rat?

I took my rat to the vets about a month ago due to a large lump growing near her genital area, she was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour but I was advised to take her home and keep her comfortable for as long as possible. Now the tumour is huge! She has to walk with her back legs raised to keep it off the ground and her legs are pushed further to the sides by it. She has a big bald patch where I suspect it has been rubbing the ground and she isn't so keen on handling. On the other hand she still plays with her cage mate and eats and drinks just fine.

BUT... The vets close for christmas really soon so if she gets any worse I won't be able to have her put down, instead she will have to suffer through Christmas.

I don't know what to do! Please help me!
