  • Boil water advisory and using the dishwasher?

I live in WV which was recently hit by severe storms leaving the entire state (and some counties in surrounding states) w/out power or water for days. While power and water have been restored to most areas, we are still under a boil water advisory.

I have a dishwasher, not the built into the counter kind, but the kind with the hose you pull out from the back and attach to the faucet. I always run it using hot water and it is also run on a "heat boost" setting that I have always used for every wash, and it has a heated drying cycle.

Can I wash my dishes in the dishwasher? Does the water get hot enough to kill whatever it is that boiling the water would eliminate?

  • Help me find this recipe: chocolate cookie with marshmallow cream peppermint frosting?

I made this cookie last year but I can't remember what website I found the recipe on. I know the basic cookie recipe, its the peppermint topping that I can't remember. All I remember from the frosting is that it has marshmallow cream and finely crushed peppermint candy canes...and I can't remember what else. It must have been something like milk or butter...something that thinned out the marshmallow cream and made it less sticky, easy to work with. Can someone help me find this recipe?

I'm sure if I could even remember the exact name of the cookie I could find it...I only frequent a handful of different recipe websites but I just can't find the right recipe.

  • Anyone have a recipe for "Michigander Fruit Salad?"?

My grandma used to make something she called "Michigander Fruit Salad" when my mom was very little. My mom doesn't remember the exact recipe, just that it had apricots, marshmallows, and called for heavy whipping cream. She said it might have had oranges in it. Has anyone else ever heard of this? Do you have a recipe you could share with me?

  • Looking for a specific quote about history, can you help?

I don't know exactly how it's worded but it's about how history isn't about who is right or wrong, only who wins. I've checked a couple of quote websites, and specifically quotes about history, but can't find this quote. Can you point me in the right direction?

  • Looking for a "Pickle Burger" recipe, can you help?

My mom saw a burger recipe in a commercial the other day and would like to make them this weekend. It's not a stuffed burger, with toppings sealed in the middle of a burger. It had pickles chopped up and mixed into the beef. I've looked on Recipezaar, Vlasic, and Claussen websites and can't find any recipe that calls for mixing chopped up pickles into the meat and Mom doesn't remember who the commercial was for. Can someone please help me find a burger recipe that calls for chopped up pickles in the mix?

  • What is it called when you are using a device like a song to remember something else?

I am writing a paper and the name is right on the tip of my tongue but I just can't get it out. What is the device called when you sing a song or come up with a rhyme to help you remember something? You know what I mean? Like "I before E except after C and when pronounced A as in neighbor or weigh"

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Space alien halloween costume ideas?

My department has decided on an outer space theme for Halloween. I am going to be Princess Leia, my office mate will be Super Girl. Someone else is going to be Superman. Another girl is going to be a "shooting star." We need a few more outer space/alien ideas for the others in our office. And if you have some decorating ideas those will be welcome too.

Also, all ideas must be cheap and easy...we are all too cheap to spend a lot of money on a pre-made costume and we are only "crafty" when we absolutely have to be. :)

  • What foods should my mom NOT eat while on blood thinning medicine?

Her Dr told her to stay away from leafy green veggies like lettuce, brussle sprouts, cabbage, and broccoli. We have looked at several "lists" of foods containing vitamin K online but no two lists are the same.

One list says that celery has only a few micromiligrams of K while another says it has 150 miligrams.

One list has onions at 150 miligrams yet, I can't find onions on any other list.

How many miligrams or micromiligrams of K are safe for her to ingest while on the blood thinning medicine? And can someone direct me to a REALLY reliable list of foods with vitamin K? I just don't hold a lot of confidence in the lists I have found which I have included below...

    http://whfoods.org/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid...

Any other guidance is much appreciated!

  • Help with a name for a car show award?

I am part of a small car club called Rustbucket Rebels based in Oak Hill, WV. Since 2005 we have hosted an annual 9-11 Memorial Car show in which we invite local law enforcement, EMS, Red Cross, Veteran's etc so that we can honor them.

This year we have decided to present an award to a local "hero" from one of those organizations. What I need help with is what to call the award. I like the "Hometown Hero" award but I am afraid that this might be stepping on the toes of one of the local TV stations that also gives an award called the "Hometown Hero" award.

I thought I could possibly call it the "Rustbucket Rebels 9-11 Memorial Car Show Hometown Hero Award" and that would be differrent enough from the TV award but...that sure is a mouthful!!!

    Any suggestions?

3 Hey Vasquez, you ever been mistaken for a man?

4 Now don't get me wrong, we need good cops down here & they say you're good at what you do. But the team comes first. You live by that & you'll be okay, & we'll all be there for you.

5 We took the guards' guns and now the prisoners are running free. To restore order the guards need their guns.

6 We commit these bodies to the void with a glad heart. For within each seed there is a promise of a flower & within each death no matter how small there is always a new life. A new beginning. Amen.

    7 Hey son, I'll give ya my authorization code. It's E-A, T-M, E.

  • Help with ideas for entertainment at car shows?

I am the "games" girl for my car club "Rustbucket Rebels." I usually try to do some trivia, a couple of paper based games like auto-alphabet or name that tune. I also do a scavenger hunt. We've done the fan-belt toss, washer toss, kick-ball bowling...

I can usually come up with new trivia questions @each show & revise the other games enough so that they are different for each show. The scavenger hunt was a big hit the 1st year but since then it has just dwindled down to 1 of our regular show participants that plays.

Could someone else give me some ideas for games to play at car shows?

    www.rustbucketrebels.com

BTW...we are a very small club. we have only about 8 members and not all of us can make it to every show. One of our members has recently joined the Navy and will be leaving us for a while knocking us down to only about 7 active members. So any game ideas you have for me, must be able to be organized by only one or two people.

  • Help with a movie title?

I remember catching this movie a couple times back in the late 80's or early 90's. It was a black and white slasher flick probably from the 60's. It took place in "Cabell county" or "Huntington" and I think the killer was a strangler. I kind of remember a newspaper headline in the movie calling the killer the "Cabell Strangler" but I might be remembering wrong. It could have been that someone else in the movie referred to the "Cabell Strangler." The victims were usually teens...probably on a "lover's lane" or something...

I have checked IMDB but maybe I just don't have enough information to find the correct title. Could anyone else help please?

  • How can we stop the company?

You can't train it, teach it tricks. We had no idea what the thing was attached to Cane's face when they brought him back on board. But we figured out that the company wanted it and we were expendable. Cane is dead now. All of my crew is dead. And the monster that killed them is dead too. Me and Jonsey, we're all that was left.

But there were more. More monsters. The company wants to study them and use them as weapons. They will stop at nothing to get them. They even sent someone from Hadley's Hope out there to look for them. But they didn't warn them! Why didn't they at least warn them!?

I'm all alone again on this hellish planet. And the monster has followed me here too. It has been with me for so long that I can't remember a time without it. It has to end. I have to stop it. I can't let the company get it. It's inside me.

what happend to me the last time I met this monster? I'll tell you...I died...

    end transmission.

  • What cars were driven by the Angel's in the Charlie's Angels movies and the original TV series?

I'd like a list of ALL of the cars if someone can manage it:

    Jill

    Sabrina

    Chris

    Tiffany

    Julie

    Dylan

    Alex

    Natalie
