shonoel
I live in Australia, where I scribble a bit of poetry and put it on things like fridge magnets and bookmarks etc. I recently started a website where I sell it locally and internationally at http://www.freeverse.com.au I have a lot of fun 'playing' on Yahoo Answers, and try to help if I can, though I probably ruffle a few feathers because I tend to tell it as I see it.
Can you identify these classic and veteran cars?
I posted these recently and got one answer and one rude reply.
Thanks Jet_Doc for identifying the Buick, sorry I couldn't get online in time to give you best answer.
The photos of the others are in a Photo-Bucket album and I'd really appreciate any help in identifying them. Thanks in advance, here's the link.
1 AnswerOther - Cars & Transportation8 years agoCan anybody identify these classic cars?
I recently purchased some prints of classic and veteran cars, but most of them don't have any identification markings. Is there anybody out there who could identify them from the photos and put me out of my misery? One of them is a Buick, but I don't know what year. Many thanks in advance. http://s603.beta.photobucket.com/user/freeverse_01...
1 AnswerOther - Cars & Transportation8 years agoDoes anybody know MSC Distributors in the USA?
I want to order some T shirts from a US firm called MSC Distributors, but I can't find a physical address on their website. Anybody heard of them or had dealings with them? Thanks in advance.
Other - Local Businesses9 years agoCan you name this bird?
I need help from the zoology experts again please.
This guy is a little bit bigger than the brown honey eaters (lichmera indistincta) that also frequent our garden, but is also a nectar eater.
Forgive the lack of sharpness in the photos, I had to take them through glass with a 200mm lens as the subject was a bit nervous. Many thanks in advance.
2 AnswersZoology1 decade agoCan you identify this bird?
Two of these have started visiting my Brisbane, Australia back yard recently. They are shiny black with iridescent green on their wings. From the back they have what could be described almost as a 'fishtail' or perhaps scissor tail look. Their calls range from a chirp to a raucous screech and sometimes even a song similar to that of a butcher bird.
The photos are identical, but the first one is smaller and will load quicker.
2 AnswersZoology1 decade agoHave you been proposed to because of your answers?
I got a surprise in my emails this morning, a proposal of marriage from someone who says she was impressed by my answers. Is this happening to a lot of people?
For the record:
If you were born after 1968, I am old enough to be your father.
Yes, my picture is recent, about 2 years old.
I am very happily married and wish to stay that way.
Yes it was an ego boost, thank you.
8 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoIs there a word for this shape?
I need a word or phrase to describe the shape of this oddly shaped vase in a price list.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoMe again. What is this critter?
Can you zoological types tell me who this is?
If he's some sort of caterpillar, does he turn into something else and if so what?
Also, is the little pointy thing on its rear end a sting and are the 'eyes' just markings?
Here's the photo http://picasaweb.google.com.au/pentakoda/DropBox?a...

I know it's a dragonfly, but does it have a specific name?
I took this at Boondall Wetlands near Brisbane, Australia.
Thanks in advance to you experts out there.

I have heard it called a Tent Spider because of its web, but wondered if anyone knew its proper name or any info.

4 AnswersZoology1 decade agoAnother bird for the zoological experts, is it a wren?
I'm sorting out some happy snaps; I think this is a wren, but don't know what kind. It was in suburban Brisbane, Australia if that's any help. http://s603.photobucket.com/albums/tt113/freeverse...
Please feel free to browse all of the photos and advise if I have any wrong names, or add scientific ones if you know them.
Many thanks in advance.
4 AnswersZoology1 decade agoCan you identify the killer or the victim?
I witnessed this grisly scene right on my own doorstep in suburban Brisbane, Australia.

It used to be such a nice neighbourhood.
Can you identify either of them?

This guy loves our Hawaiian Ginger plant and is a regular visitor.
I'd love to know what sort of bird it is if you know.

6 AnswersZoology1 decade agoEnglish speakers, is it time for a new language?
It's been over a long time since we threw of the yoke of British Imperialism and yet we still call our language English.
I propose that we re-name our respective languages to make them more relevant to our geographical locations.
Here are my suggestions:
Australian English would become Austrenglish
Canadians would speak Canadenglish
New Zealanders would speak New Zealenglish
The Brits of course would speak Brenglish
USA would of course speak Amerenglish
After mastering the subtle differences in each of these languages you could claim to be multilingual.
Engineering courses would teach that one man's (or woman's) spanner is another's wrench. A shifting spanner is a crescent wrench in the USA for example.
Anatomy classes would teach that only in America does a male have a fanny. What do you think? Interesting question?
3 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoI keep getting the same email from Yahoo . This has been going on all day.?
Hey, shonoel, look what you got!
Congratulations, you've got a best answer and 10 extra points!
Your answer to the following question really hit the spot and has been chosen as the best answer:
How do you spell intermit/intimate when referring to a venue?
Go ahead, do your victory dance. Celebrate a little. Brag a little. Then come back and answer a few more questions!
Thanks for sharing what you know and making someone's day.

2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoWhy does YA think New Zealand is a spelling error?
New Zealand is the birthplace of Russell Crowe, Keith Urban, Sir Edmund Hillary (first guy to conquer Mt. Everest) and Lord Rutherford, the father of nuclear science. When will Yahoo Answers spellchecker stop treating it as a 'misspelling'?
8 AnswersGeography1 decade agoWhat does a GP visit cost in your country?
I see a lot of health related questions from people who say they can't afford to go to the doctor, and am curious as to how expensive doctors are in various parts of the world. In Australia, I pay about $50 then get about $32 of that back through our Medicare system, which is open to everyone. Please state approx cost for a normal visit to your GP and where you are from.
