How to print ads without the white borders?
So I'm trying to figure out how to print collateral without the white borders on Photoshop CS2, but can't figure out how to do so. I tried looking at internet tutorials, but to no avail. I am using a Canon Copy-Pro printer (don't know if I actually have to put in the settings on the printer?). Can anyone give me some step-to-step advice about using bleeds and printing borderless images?
Thanks in advance!
2 AnswersPrinters8 years agoDoes this qualify as police harrassment?
Okay, I am still infuriated just thinking about our encounter with the police last night. I want to know if the policeman was allowed to treat us the way he did and if we could file a complaint. We got a $200 ticket for speeding and normally we would just pay it off, but we are so angered that we're gonna fight this in court.
The setting:
We're in Massachusetts, coming down from New York and bringing my brother back to Maine for Christmas break. It's 1:30 at night, and since my father cannot stay awake this late, he's in the back sleeping. I had a fever and so my brother was left to drive. It was his first time driving on the highway.
I kept an eye on him most of the way, but the one moment I nod off, the police was on our tail. Or was he? It was all very confusing. We were in the left lane, and he had his lights on the right lane. There was a car in the right lane who pulled over and the police was behind him. Oh so it's not us, we think, and speed up again. The police passes the car and goes to the middle. Maybe he had an emergency? We slow down and FINALLY he gets behind us. Petrified, we stop in the left lane. BIG MISTAKE. We learned the lesson way too well last night.
Police: ARE YOU A F***ING IDIOT! ARE YOU STUPID! YOU WANT US KILLED?! PULL TO THE RIGHT.
(My brother pulls to the right)
Police: ARE YOU FROM ANOTHER PLANET?! IN WHAT WORLD DO YOU PULL TO THE LEFT?! WHERE'S YOUR LICENSE?
(Goes over to my side of the window)
PULL DOWN YOUR WINDOW!!
(I pull it down)
Brother: I'm sorry it was my first time driving on the highway I didn't--
Police: WHERE ARE YOU FROM?! (As he shouts I fear he'll burst a vein on his neck)
Me: We're from Maine.
Police: WAS I TALKING TO YOU?! I AM TALKING TO HIM! WHERE'S YOUR LICENSE!
(Brother hands him it and he walks back to his car to check it. He returns 5 minutes later)
Police: I AM GIVING YOU A TICKET FOR GOING 85 IN A 65 MILES AN HOUR ZONE. YOU HAVE TO PAY $200 BY (so and so) blah blah blah.
(Any normal police officer wouldn't shout it like a drill sergeant and rub it in our faces that the ticket is $200)
Dad: I want to speak with you.
(Police ignores him and starts to walk away)
Me: Can we have your police ID number?
(A palpable look of fear crosses the policeman's face and he retreats to his car like a dog with his tail between his legs)
Me (shouting out the window): YOU NEED TO LEARN TO BE NICER TO PEOPLE! YOU CALL YOURSELF A POLICE OFFICER!?
(I take over driving and we go home)
I mean seriously, everything he said was literally in caps. He seemed to have anger management issues and if we would have back-talked he would've got us out the car and thrown us to the ground. But no, we were very polite and civil towards him. Are they supposed to be treating us that way? My brother couldn't even explain, the police was too busy screaming his head off. I've never been pulled over before, but no longer will I think of police as public servants. Should I call his chief and file a complaint or is this not enough grounds to do so?
Thanks for reading all this!

I'm seriously thinking of publishing this story. Can you please give me some input on my writing and what areas need improvement? Thanks in advance!
“I got a lighter,” said Kate. She pulled out a blue one from her purse.
She was a smoker? How could I have missed that? I took the lighter and shoved it into the pocket of my jean jacket. “Thanks. We’ll need this in a bit.”
“I can’t wait!” exclaimed Sara, clenching her hands in a way that seemed like she was about to spread out her arms. She didn’t though, but instead put her hands behind her back and twisted anxiously. “You know, this is my favorite holiday.”
“Really?” I was genuinely surprised. “I never heard anyone say that before. Usually people like Christmas or Thanksgiving.”
“Nope. For me, it’s the Fourth of July.” She sat back down on her chair. “My father was obsessed with fireworks. He would buy so many that our neighborhood wouldn’t bother going to see the city fireworks. We had our own show right on our private beach.”
“Wow, that sounds pretty cool. Why isn’t he doing it this year?”
My brother hissed, warning me with his eyes. It was too late though. Sara’s eyes wandered up to the starry sky and she suddenly took on a melancholy demeanor.
“He died two years ago of cancer.”
“I’m so sorry,” I breathed, wishing I knew a way to change the subject without looking like an ***. “I didn’t mean to—”
“No it’s okay. I’m used to it now. I mean, first you sorta feel like there’s a gaping hole in your life, you know? But as the days go on, it gets filled. That’s just how life works, I guess.” She managed a smile. “Well enough of that. How about we focus on the night in front of us?”
I nodded. “Well it is dark enough. Why not be the first people on this beach to start the festivities?” I grabbed the fireworks and headed closer to the water. “Ready!”
They hollered back what can only be described as sounds of excitement.
“Okay, here we go!” I took out the lighter and rolled my thumb against the metal gear, setting the flame. Suddenly Dad’s tale about the boy who lost his fingers blowing up fireworks sprang forth in my mind and my heart started to beat hard against my chest in trepidation. I concentrated on lighting the fuse. Once I heard it crackle and glow orange, I ran for my life, climbing up the sand to where the others were.
The fireworks were obnoxious, just the way I liked them. They were loud from the start, spewing dazzling pinks, blues, and yellows into the black sky. Cheers came from all around the beach and soon others joined in, painting the sky with luminous colors that crackled into the distance. Kate wrapped her arms around my waist and I instinctively put an arm around her shoulder. But my attention was not on her.
Sara was beautiful. And not the magazine beautiful that Kate was, but the genuine beautiful that people only found a handful of times in their lives. Her face was in rapture, with her mouth open in awe and her hands clasped together as if she were thanking God for such a perfect moment. Her round eyes became mirrors for the sky, twinkling and sparkling like a tangled mess of blinking Christmas lights. I found her to be more fascinating than the spectacle before us. But then, so did my brother.
He wore the same goofy smile he had on earlier. But I saw now that “goofy” was the wrong term for it. It was more of an enamored smile. I found myself laughing bitterly, as if my mind knew exactly the twisted fate that would soon succumb us. He loved her. I didn’t need for him to tell me this. But that day I watched her instead of the fireworks—that was the day I fell in love with her too.
4 AnswersBooks & Authors9 years agoPlease critique my very short story?
So I'm considering using this as a writing sample, since it's short and simple. How is it? Any areas that need improvement?
I waited for him to turn towards me. It wasn’t going to end like this—not here, not now. My knit gloves no longer shielded me from the cold and the melting snow bit my fingers. My jeans felt like ice at the knees. As I watched his silhouette my breath could be seen in my frame of view, coming and going, coming and going. My heart stopped as he paused, his left foot not fully on the ground. I knew he was rethinking it. We’ve been together for two years. Such a minor thing wasn’t going to separate us, I’m sure of it. I focused on fighting back a smile as he turned on his heel and walked towards me.
“You know, it didn’t have to be this way.” His figure towered over me. I struggled to see his face, for he was shielded from the light of the streetlamp above us by the rim of his baseball cap.
“It doesn’t have to,” I said to him.
He scratched his head in response to this, and I could see that he was biting his lip, a habit he always displayed in times of hard decision-making. He shook his head, releasing a wearisome sigh. Taking off the scarf I had given him during our first Christmas together, he put it around my neck. “It is what it is.” He turned from me again, and the sudden pang from my heart told me that he wouldn’t be turning back. I sniffled, trying to keep back the onslaught of tears coming my way. But there was no stopping them. They rolled down my cheeks and fell to the tails of the red scarf piled below. His figure was but a watery blur in my eyes. My arms began to sink into the snow and my head followed suit, not caring about the bitter cold that left me shivering. I just lied there crying, crying in the new fallen snow.
Two things that specifically bug me and I need your opinion:
1. The fact that she is on her knees is not mentioned. Should I blatantly say that in the beginning to avoid confusion?
2. Does this sentence flow well: "I struggled to see his face, for he was shielded from the light of the streetlamp above us by the rim of his baseball cap."
Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersBooks & Authors9 years agoI used Renu Moistureloc and now my eyes are red?
Apparently I didn't get the memo where it was recalled back in 2006. When I told my mom to get me new contact solution, she gave me unopened bottles of Renu Moisturelock. Now that I look at it, the expiration date is 2007. I've only used it for a week, but now my eyes are red...ridiculously red. There's no blurred vision but it's sort of sticky when I wake up. And no, it's not pink eye. It doesn't itch.
Apparently you can get some kind of fungus from Renu that can impair your vision. Does it sound like I might have it?
1 AnswerOptical10 years agoPlease make my writing flow better? (10 pts to the best answer I promise!)?
Okay so this is just a tiny section in my novel. I wrote it on a whim last night. I know the whole thing is sickenly flowery and strange, but my whole story is about finding salvation. Anyway, are there any things that create a strange picture in your head and should be worded better? I want it to flow nicely. Thanks in advance for your input!
“We should walk faster,” said Julian as he warily eyed the darkening clouds ahead. The storm was looming closer, its wrath causing trees to shake in their bark. “It looks like it’s going to rain.” With his hand lightly touching Emily’s back, he prompted her to quicken her steps.
“Funny how the weather can change in the blink of an eye,” she remarked. Thunder responded to her with a roar and lightning illuminated the sky. People looked up with a gasp and rushed for cover.
Julian got under an overhang, beckoning Emily to follow suit. Instead she stood her ground, facing the sky. Thunder rumbled again and with it came a downpour. She raised her palms and embraced the rain.
“What are you doing!” Julian called out.
If she heard him, she did not acknowledge it. Her eyes were closed as she smiled at the heavens. The tips of her boots started to create circles in the mud while the hem of her dress expanded like an umbrella to shield her feet from the pouring rain. She was spinning, spinning like the dropping maple seed, her arms falling away from her body as if they no longer were a part of it. “It’s the first spring shower!” she exclaimed, and she giggled as if the raindrops were tickling her cheeks.
Julian stood there, watching her. At first he regarded her with pure bewilderment, but as she danced he began to notice how her wiry hair became bouncing curls in the rain, and that there was a hint of dimples hiding in her cheeks. Her skin lost its rosy pigment and she became as white as Julian, glowing under the electric streetlamp. The rain created a sparkling crest of white along the line of her body. She looked like an angel, Julian thought. An angel in her true form, pulling the cityscape into a glorious atmosphere of magic with her circling arms.
Julian’s senses heightened and he found everything breathtakingly beautiful. The lightning painted purple in the sky, and with every flash the wet brick of the buildings gleamed white. A thin layer of water collected on the streets, vibrating and bouncing as the drains threatened to swallow it down to the black abyss below. The thunder no longer sounded angry, but sounded like a great baritone voice harmonizing with the chorus of raindrops.
In the midst of this rapture, Julian could feel a tugging sensation. It felt as if his body was trying to melt into this dazzling entanglement, pulling him into what he was so sure must be the hand of heaven. He didn’t fight the sensation, nor did he fear it. He followed the tug until everything came to a sudden halt. Emily stopped spinning.
“I shouldn’t be doing this,” she said. “I’ll never hear the end of it from Stephan if I catch a cold.” And just like that, the surroundings became nothing but a city street under heavy rain.

“What are you doing!” I sprinted across the snow and grabbed my wife’s shoulders, turning her towards me. The feeder that was in her hands dropped to the ground. “Are you crazy!”
“Do you expect me to lounge around all day? I can only stare out that window for so long.” She was about to pick up the feeder but I slapped away her hand. She looked at me, hurt expressed in her dark brown eyes.
“I’ll pick it up,” I whispered, realizing my brashness. I picked up its wired handle and with my other hand took hers. A chill ran up my spine once I felt how cold her hand was. I wanted to scold her, but instead said, “If you wanted to fill the feeder, you should’ve asked me.”
“You already do so much for me,” she said. Her hand suddenly tightened around mine as she hunched over. A cough seized her. Quickly I wrapped my arms around her and patted her, not caring that the feeder dropped again. Her body shook violently against mine. The coughs ceased after a minute.
“I’m sorry,” she said with a cracking voice. I pulled her away to find blood running down her mouth. She quickly wiped it away and then proceeded to wipe my shoulder with her sleeve.
“It’s fine.” I could see that she was embarrassed. Trying to light up the mood, I tugged the ears of her hat. “It suits you well.”
She smiled. “Your mother has good taste.”
“Come’on, I’ll set up a fire and make some hot tea.” With my arm around her, I led her back into the house. I seated her in the over-stuffed chair, propping a pillow behind her head and throwing a blanket over her. Tossing a couple of logs into the fireplace, I lit up a sheet of newspaper and threw it in. The wood crackled as the fire consumed it. In the reflection of the glass screen I could see Sara’s eyes staring blankly ahead. I lifted up from my knees. “I’m going to fill the feeder,” I said, and walked out of the room.
I took the birdfeeder into the garage. As I got out my cell phone, I proceeded in filling it up with thistle seed as I waited for my mother to pick up the phone.
“Hello?”
“Where are you!” I found myself shouting at her. “You’re supposed to be watching Sara! Did you know she wandered out alone? What happens if she gets phenomena, what will we do then?”
“I’m so sorry,” she said. I knew she was on the verge of crying, which made me feel even worse. “You were out of food so I wanted to get some so I could make supper. I didn’t know she’d actually go anywhere. Is she alright? Dear Lord, I’d never forgive myself if something happened to her.”
“She’s fine, Mom.” I screwed the top on the feeder, using more force than necessary. “Just keep a better eye on her. I would, but you know I have to work. Hospital bills.”
“Of course, of course. I have no problem taking care of her. You know I’d do anything for Sara.” In the background I could hear the low murmurs of people and shopping carts. “Would you like spaghetti or roast chicken tonight? Oh would you look at that! Steak’s on sale.”
“Spaghetti’s fine.”
“You know, I’ve been thinking. How about spending a nice Christmas up in the cabin this year?”
I trudged through the snow, placing the feeder on its hanger. “Is Paul going to be there?”
There was a moment of silence. Finally she said, “I just figured…”
“I’m not going.”
“It’s been two years already. Don’t you think it’s time to make amends?”
“I’m not the one who didn’t bother to show up at his own brother’s wedding.”
“Oh Michael,” she whispered. “You wouldn’t have wanted to come if you were in his situation. Please, I just want us all to be together for this Christmas. Before—”
“Bye.” I hung up the phone and stuffed it into my pocket.
It was four months ago that I discovered that my wife had cancer. The doctor said she was entering the final stage. Immediately I put her through chemotherapy, and each day I painfully watched as she withered away. Her head, once full of brown flowing locks, is now barren. She is frail—her skin tight against her cheekbones. I admit, once the doctor said that the cancer had spread into her lungs, I had lost all hope. I decided to follow Sara’s wishes and brought her back to the house. Although I didn’t want to hear my mother say the words, I knew that this would be her last Christmas.
