A week ago my computer stopped working but I could'nt check it out as exams were there. My computer was not switching on it would get stuck in the motherboard manufacter's name screen. I tried to clean the rams and did a bit of dusting and soon my computer started loading the OS and like within 5 mins it will switch off. like it was not even switched on. I thought the processor is getting hot and I was right. Processor was really hot. I could not touch it. I opened the heat sink(ordinary old intel processor fan) and cleaned the heat sink cuz It had a huge amount of dust stuck and then restarted the computer and still the problem persists. Now the computer switches off within the welcome screen! I have fitted the heat sink correctly. Then I again opened the heat sink and even the processor too and dusted it. Cuz my computer teacher told me to clean it and see. I used a vacuum cleaner. Still the processor is really hot. Can't keep the finger on it for like 3-5 seconds. I don't know whats wrong. I guess the heat sink is not running fast maybe due to age it is running slow? Age of computer is 4 years. But ya likely changed everything except processor stuffs and motherboard.

What should I do? Should I get a new heat sink? or is there any problem with processor? should I get it replaced? or the motherboard needs to be replaced?

I'm going to format my laptop c drive and install windows 8.1 from win7. So that will mean that I will lose all my data and stuff from there. I have steam installed in c drive but the steam games installed in d drive. And I will not be formatting d drive. So after re-install how will I re-link the games that r already installed in computer? pls help and same applies to uplay and origin. So pls give the steps. I dont wanna re-install the games cuz they have huge updates. And steam is not letting me to play the games without updates. And moreover is my save games uploaded to cloud by steam? so if I re-install will I get back my saves?

So i read the minimum specs requirement. And I have everything matching except the GPU. It says GTS450. Now I dont know how is it and will my 2gb GT 640 be able to run the game. So I need help. I dont want to run it in full. Its okay if it runs in low settings provided I get to play the game. And so I need ur help. I hope my gpu can run it. So pls let me know. I had pre-ordered splinter cell blacklist and installed it the day it was out. Played few missions and then exams started. So now again I started playing it. But yesterday I tried to re-install the game due to some reasons. So i deleted the Splinter Cell Blacklist folder in ubisoft. Then I inserted the DVD and when I Click autorun I see only Play and Uninstall buttons no install button. Then I went to deleted the ubisoft folder even. And then looked in programs and features of control pannel for any installation and found there is no splinter cell blacklist installed but I'm asked to play. Even when I click play it gives a error. I also tried launching the game through uplay and there is also same problem. So pls tell me how will I install? I have seen in the DVD 1 that there is no setup type thing to start mannually. Anyways pls pls help me. Is there anything that is still in my computer and needs deleting before installation so installation can happen? PLS PLS PLS PLS help. Than for any help.

I bought yester my siberia full size headset and never tested the microphone but now when I try it its not working! I right click on the sound icon at the taskbar and there I clicked recording devices and now I see there the name is external mic and when I say something the green bar that shows the sound does not rise not matter how much I shout. I checked the properties and I think its enabled not any problem there. My headset sound is working but the mic not working. I'm currently downloading new audio driver and see what happens and I check it in my old computer also and there its not showing up! and in here in my laptop its showing external mic but no input is there. MY MIC IS SWITCHED ON using the switch on it.... so if there is something else pls let me know! pls pls pls help!

I have a old PC which is actually custom made by me. Working for 3years and no problem.

But yesterday my mom not knowingly switched off the powercord directly and now when I try to switch my pc it will open and the icons r loaded and within 5mins it will show blue screen and restart automatically. So I thought to take a look at the computers inside and tighten the cables and now it won't even show my any signs of switching on!! I can hear the fans started working and the LEDs glowing which r installed in my PC case but now not alll the boot screen or anything will show up in the monitor.... PLS PLS PLS help! at 1st I thought the HDD is dead but when I thought nicely I think the motherboard is dead cuz there is nothing appearing on the screen not a boot mean also!! just the monitor shows no signal and the computer is switched on. My monitor is correctly connected to the PC so pls let me know whats the problem is it Hard drive or the motherboard or anything else. I dont think so anything has burnt like the SMPS or anything....
