  • If Clinton surplus was spent on treasury bonds for intra-governmental debt, what did the Govt do with the $?

I understand that during the Clinton year surpluses that the excess money came in through Social Security and therefore was spent on US Treasury bonds in intra-governmental debt investment. My question is... where did the money go after that? In year 2000 on-budget and off-budget were both surpluses... I still don't understand where that money ended up going and how we ended up not decreasing our national debt by some amount that year!

  • Agter immunization does the body always capture/eliminate viruses before they inject dna into cells?

I just want to make sure that i understand correct...

After immunization, antigens are recognized by the body and when viruses are detected in the futue, the body attacks and disposes of them. If imunderstand correctly, this must happen before the virus manages to inject its dna/rna into a cell, correct?

After the cell is infected, there is no stopping the virus until after it has blown the cell open, right?

After immunization, are all virus cells able to be disposed of before they inject? If there were too many virus cells then they would still be able to infect the host since they would overwhelm the immune system, right?

I am also trying to understand why immunization does not work post-infection, if viruses always eventually blow up the host cell. Ater that host cell is blown open, the immune system should be able to deal with thise viruses it recognizes i would thnk.

Clearly i know little about this topic- just started reading a half hour ago and have some basic questins, thanks!

  • Frequent muscle twitching - have you experienced it? What caused it?

Over the last week I have started to experience regular muscle twitching in my left and right arms. I have experienced similar twitching in my eyelids and the muscles below my eyes off and on for several years now but the arms is something new.

I have been under a tremendous amount of stress at work and while I hope this is the cause, I am very concerned since it just started up out of mowhere and is so frequent. I stopped drinking caffine, plan on visiting the doctor next week, and am going to take a week long vacation in two weeks. Hoping something helps determine what is going on but in the meantime i would like to hear your experiences.

If you have had frequent twitching, how frequent? Did it start all at once or slowly ramp up? Which muscles? Thanks.

  • Statute of limitations on divorce court judgments?

When my mother and father divorced, there was a judgment entered by a court that my father would pay my mother half of a settlement from a differnt court case.

Over twenty years ago my moher never pursued her share (emotions, divorce was long and drawn out to begin with). Is she still entitled to it or is there some sort of statute of limitations on such judgments?

    Thanks.

  • If a spouse gets mad when asked if they are cheating is it more or less likely that they are guilty?

I'm sure every case is a bit different but I'm wondering what your opinions are. If anyone knows about research on the subject please point me to it.

I would expect an innocent spouse to explain their morals and values and try to understand why the question was asked in the first place.

I would expect a guilty spouse to get very defense.

I'm not sure what "mad" would signify, if anything.

  • My cat pooed a long skinny hairy poo on the carpet... Symptom?

My cat has never pooed outside his litter box. It was clean and available but he suddenly pooed on the carpet.

He is 5 yrs old. The poo had a lot of hair in it but looking at his other poo, there usually is some hair. This one was ver long and skinny though. Abnormal.

I have been giving him hairball paste with dinner, could this just be him passing massive hair?

He got sick earlier today and there was pieces of plant in vomit. I do not have easter lillies and i do not think the plant is poisionous... the plant he was nibbling on was a fern. He has been nibbling for days now- could this type of poo and behavior be from renal failure?

I have taken away the plants and will take him to the vet tomorrow... Just looing for advice from anyone who may have already gone through some of these things.

    Thanks.

  • Advice on stocks with high div yields?

I'm just learning about stocks and I noticed that some have dividend yields are over 20%... In cases like these is it typical that the stock price dropped and the upcoming dividends will be much less than the ttm?

If a stock can pay itself off in a little over a year from dividends alone it seems like quite a good deal to me.

  • Will the Y!A website ever become mobile-web friendly?

Does anyone know if Yahoo ever plans on making Y!A more friendly for the mobile web?

Even the emails I receive from Y!A notifications are difficult to read on smartphones. Y!A itself is almost unusable. It pales in comparison with sites that have actually focused on the mobile web (etrade, ebay, Google, YouTube).

As a second question, do you know of any q/a sites which have already started to offer mobile web versions?

  • If I mix 3 month old gas with new gas will I risk damaging my car engine?

I have about 30 gallons of 3 month old gas which is left over from generator usage during a winter storm. Fuel stabilizer was never mixed in.

I know I should not dump it all in the gas tank of my car at once but if I just mix in a gallon or two every now and then will I damage the engine?

  • HDMI vs component from Comcast box- big difference for HD?

I've been enjoying HD from Comcast for a few years now but the other day I saw a HD TV connected to a Blu Ray player and it looked stunning. A sign said "you need an HDMI cable to get this picture quality." If I buy an HDMI cable for my Comcast box should I expect a dramatic change or would this be something that would apply more to Blu Ray DVD players?

    Thanks.

  • Anyone have advice on how to make cat puzzle feeders and/or food balls which dispense food?

I have a single cat and he needs a bit more exercise. I heard that puzzle feeders / food balls can help stimulate a cat's natural hunting instincts, causing them to be more active.

Does anyone have recommendations on how to make these (or where to order them from) ?

    Thanks!

  • How to solve problems of rolling chair on uneven wood floor and desk too high for chair?

I have a rolling chair in my office and the wood floor is not even. When I'm moving from one side of my desk to the other (it is L-shaped), it is difficult for me to roll the chair.

Any ideas for solutions? I was thinking about making a platform out of 2x4s and plywood. This would also help solve my other problem which is that my desk is too high for my chair. I need to raise the chair up a few inches.

Simply buying a new chair is not an option since I actually have two desks- one is a few inches higher than the other. Currently I need to adjust the chair height each time I roll from one to the other. I might just start stacking plywood underneath the chair and the low desk.

  • How to fix living room table?

I have a table in my living room which has two serious problems:

    1. The wheels have fallen off. The wood is rather cheap so mounting new wheels might take some work. Any ideas/hints would be appreciated. I will take pictures an upload in another question them if more clarification is required.

    2. The top of the table is falling off. The top is connected to the rest of the table with metal linkages so that it can be raised up a few feet. This will need to be repaired too but since the top isn't very thick I want to have an idea of what to do (or what not to do).

    Thanks.
