How would y'all describe this taper haircut in words?

It seems like every time I ask for a classic taper haircut from barbers, it ends up looking like a fade and shows a lot of scalp on the sides (which is what I don't want). I like grown-out sides. Would telling them to keep the top really long and a #6 taper be appropriate?

Also, how would y'all describe the styling on the top in this picture ? Is it a brushed-up, side swept, etc?

  • Should I start a part-time/temporary job with the plan of being overseas for 2 weeks in the near future?

I recently got out the military last month. I am looking forward to easing my way back into to the civilian workforce ASAP before I start college in January. However, I have travel plans with my family for only 2 weeks from the end of October to the beginning of November.

Should I mention this in potential interviews? Would it be wise to compromise with my potential employers (work longer hours, less pay, ect.) as compensation for being away for 2 weeks? OR should I just save all the trouble and just wait until I return back from overseas to start my job?

I don't know much about pets and different breeds, so anyone can identify it? My grandma said something about it not having its natural hair and it was more puffier....I have no idea.

  • Can I stop wearing my retainers?

I have had my braces taken off since 2007, about 5 years ago. For the first few months, I wore them all-day for everyday. After the first few months were up, I wear them almost every night and still do to this day.

I really like my teeth. My dentist always complements that my teeth are extremly straight and gets surprised when I tell her that I've had my braces off for nearly 5 years. She says most people end up having crooked teeth again 1-2 years after they take off their braces because they stop using their retainers.

I am leaving to military boot camp, and don't want the pain of keeping up with my retainers. How long do most orthodontists reccomend to wear retainers? I currently assume you have to wear it your whole life, but I am not certain.

  • Can being an authorized credit card user really build my credit score?

I am an 18 year old teen still in high school. I asked my dad if he can help me build a credit score early on my life, so I would experience a little less financial stress in the future.

My dad added me as an authorized user his Discover credit card. We decided not to open a bank account for me because I am not working and currently bringing in zero income.

According to my situation, is this the best way to start out a credit score? My dad has a credit score of 750 and always pays his bills on time and never skips payments throughout his whole life.

By the way, I am enterting the military after high school graduation, so college won't be a burden.

  • How to solve this simple algebra equation?

    Isolate and solve for r:

    (0.30-r)/(r) = (q2)/(q1)

q2 and q1 are known values, so they're not variables.

  • Do classic cars have better performance than modern cars?

My friend and I were arguing over the inferiority of classic cars or modern in regards to performance and gas mileage. He assumes that just because classics stock ponies and muscles such Mustang and Camaro, and Malibu have low gas mileage (compare to their current era counterparts), they must be faster than modern cars since they requires higher inputs of fuel to exhaust greater power.

I try to refute this by saying that modern cars just have better gas mileage because we can burn fuel efficiently for every gas utilized proportional to the same amount of gas used by the classics. This is especially true since modern cars are generally made out of more plastic material than their heavy-steel counterparts in the old days.

  • What is the best car to buy for a stick shift beginner?

Since most of the world drives cars fitted with manual/standard transmission, I am hoping to buy one in the near future when I enter my career and develop a stable income.

In the meantime, I am trying to decide which car to buy and when y'all come into play advise me! I am simply looking for cheapest new models vehicles that are fitted with stick shift transmission that can handle the abuse of someone who's still trying to learn how to drive it.

The cheapest one I kind find is a Kia Rio LX (base model), but I am not sure if it is the best for a stick shift beginner.

  • How do I solve this thin lens problem?

    (a) How far from a 50.0-mm-focal-length lens must an object be placed it its image is to be magnified 2.00X and be real?

    (b) What if the image is to be virtual and magnified 2.00X?

I see that we're only given three pieces of information:

    *f=50.0mm

    *M=2.00

    *The image is real

However, I don't know how to incorporate the magnification equation with the Thins Lens Equation.

  • How can I prove that the Marine Corps is a separate branch from the Navy?

I am trying to prove to a really arrogant individual by the user-name m249a1 that the United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy are two completely separate branch: http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=wc5XJUXMqRA

He keeps justifying that the the Marine Corps are a component of the Department of the Navy, but he fails to realize the Department of the Navy does not equal the the Navy (THE MILITARY BRANCH). The department is a civilian organization and is headed by a civilian (the Secretary of the Navy) which oversees the dealings of both naval branches which are the Marine Corps and the Navy.

  • What are points that someone can bring up to defend the legalization of homosexual marriage nationwide?

I am planning to debate against the issue that the federal government should past legislation that would make homosexual marriage legal nationwide.

I need to know all the possible points and statements they can bring up, so I can anticipate and disprove/discredit them.

  • How do I debate against homosexual marriage?

I have a court-style debate in my AP Government class on Wednesday in which I am required to argue against other students who support that the federal government should past legislation that would make homosexual marriage legal nationwide.

I think I have to argue for the more difficult side. All I can think of is that it would violate states' rights.

Young people tend to be more liberals (if that helps), so anybody got any other points and I can use for debating?

  • Can distance eye glasses worsen a nearsighted person's eyes?

I have recently been reading a lot of information from this website: http://www.myopia.org/ I don't know if it's a medical "conspiracy theory" or not, but the site seems to really emphasize the negative effect of distance eye glasses.

I would like an unbiased answer. Does distance glasses really worsen your eyes and cause you to require stronger prescription over time? Or will your vision degrade regardless of whether you wear glasses or not.

  • Where can I find an archive of news for my current events journal?

I have an upcoming current events journal project due for my AP Government class due in about 2 1/2 weeks. It requires me to read and write about articles (mostly relating to government and politics) which 3 of them are from August, 6 from September, 6 from October, and 5 from November (this month).

I think it would be unlikely to find hard-copy newspapers from months like August, so is there any website that has an archive of old news articles?

  • What should I do in this minor accident?

I am a 17 year old teen driver, and recently had an altercation in a small T-intersection in a residential district in the state of Georgia.

I was driving behind a car and I stopped behind a lady at a stopped sign. I was watching my left and right to anticipate traffic before my turn like I always do and sped up seeing that there was no crossing traffic. The most decisions was not looking forward and assuming that the car in front had already turned and already left. I hit her with a small thud.

I exited to small car and confronted the lady. We were both very calmed and I apologized. I gave her my name, home phone number, insurance company, and policy number. However, I told her not to call the police because as a young (and dumb) driver I was really scared.

The damage was very minor, with no damage on my part, and a very small dent on her car. I did not ask for any of her information (number, name, and contact) because I was really nervous for this was my first accident.

Is it okay that we didn't call the police and file a police report? Can I settle this by just making a financial payment to her for compensation? I would not want it to go through insurance because my parents would kill me if the insurance rose up.

  • How do I solve this momentum question?

"A 220-g ball falls vertically downward, hitting the floor with a speed of 2.5 m/s and rebounding upward with a speed of 2.0 m/s.

    (a) Find the ball's change in momentum (kg m/s).

    (b) Find the impulse on the ball (Ns)."

I have no idea on how to solve this. What I tried to do was set-up the basic momentum equation (m1*v1) for the ball before the impact with the ground and for the ball after the impact and then subtracted them to find the change in momentum.
