Well I recently separated from my (ex) man who used to do all the cooking. (and it was excellent!) He used to make everything for get togethers. I am going to a party next weekend with people who love to criticize my diet ( in a friendly teasing matter) and now its my turn to impress! What is a good and simple vegan dish to bring to a barbecue/potluck type party? Salad type dishes, and something I can make easily in bulk. Thanks in advance!

Hey there. I jsut recently returned from the allergist. I suffer from eczema and have been "prescribed" Vanicream lotion to assist in the dry skin recovery. I cannot find any info on whther or not its vegan. It contains ingredients which can be from vegetable source or animal source.

Is there anyone out there that can verify this for me ?

(btw I know I can "look up" the ingredients. However, doing so did not really verify anything for me")

Can anyone personally recommend good restaturants in Las Vegas for Vegan Food? We will be going there for four days and every website I have researched comes up with alot of nothing. You think a place that has something to offer everyone would include Vegans in that.

We aremainly looking for places on the strip, and not just salad bars..but FOOD. Salad bars got old quick on the last cruise we took!

How many vegans out there smoke cigarettes? How many vegans out there have quit smoking after becoming a vegan? I have been a vegan for almost two years, and I smoke. I know the obvious hypocracy in this. I know how counter productive this is and it makes me sad I cannot fully enjoy the benefits of a vegan diet due to this huge flaw in myself. Yet I can't seem to find the motivation to quit.

What kind of effect does the tobacco industry have on the animal farming industry?

I have kept myself naive to these things as I don't want to face the obvious. In this sense I am no better than the meat consumers who don't want to know where their food comes from.

I've noticed that many Asian restaurants we frequent list items in their vegetarians section that contain fish/chicken broth and sauces in alot of the items.

Example: We go to a Vietnamese Restaurant, and the other day we got an eggplant dish with rice. I immediately thought that has chicken broth! (you know you can tell by the texture and color) . When we inquired it indeed did, but had no mention of it on the menu. We looked at some other items in the veg section that did indeed say chicken broth. We were already used to seeing many with fish sauce , so it wasn't that terribly shocking. I'm just curious as to why, opening a restaurant in America,some places are so naive to our concept of veg*nism . I understand the differences in cultures, I just think its odd to be so careless, especially considering those with allergies..ie..eggs in meals without it saying such!!

Can anyone enlighten me? And while we are at it, do you have any experiences to share regarding this subject?

So we are going on a cruise to Mexico in a few months. I have never been on one. WIll they have a decent variety of vegan foods for us? I really have no idea what to expect..though I will more than likely be avoiding the food when we dock in Ensenada..

Whats some easy, healthy, and cheap vegan lunches I can bring with me to work? We do have a fridge and microwaves. I am tired of living off vending machines and 6 dollar salads from Trader Joes!!

A member is harassing and stalking my boyfriend and I and also impersonating my boyfriends account, including his picture name and description. My boyfriend and I have both recently been harassed by a troll on the y!a forums here. This said troll got my boyfriend's name off his yahoo messenger id, and used it to get information about him. (slightly off dont you think?) my question is how do you change it so your full name doesnt appear as your id? Both of ours show our full name when we type on yahoo messenger, and I can't find anywhere to change it. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Veganconscript posted a link to the movie Earthlings a few moments ago. The movie is 1 hour and 30 minutes long. People responded within minutes saying it was propoganda. I am going to guess these people didnt even bother to watch it, and only assumed it was all made up. Video doesn't lie. It includes your pet friends as well. I think its very educational for anyone, whether you are vegan or not. So please help me to understand why its so difficult to face the reality of the world we live in and why everyone chooses to ignore it? it effects all of us.

As some of you know, a stray had 5 kittens on my balcony and I have been helping to care for them. I believe they are now somewhere between 3-4 weeks old. That seems awfully young to begin weaning, however when I feed Mom her cat food, the kittens try to get into it. One even manages to grab a few pieces which worries me, obviously as he is to young and has no teeth to chew!! I bring them in during the day while she is out and about for a good 6 hours until she comes back. Should I start giving them a little kitten food with kmr? Or should I wait until she has weaned them. It is difficult as she spends her time outside and Im unable to bring her in due to aggression with my other cats..

Hi, I posted a week ago about a stray who had kittens on our balcony..She has been taking care of them well, but in the past day shes moved the runt of the litter away from the rest twice. This poor baby is near half the size of the rest. He is responsive active etc. I am quite sure he is okay aside from being so small. Anyways , we decided to take him inside with us and bottle feed him. Only problem is he wont take from the bottle! I have to pour some in my hand and let him lap it up. I am afraid he wont be getting enough. Any ideas into getting him to take it? He is, we think, almost two weeks old.
