  • 2001 dodge ram hard brake line diameter?

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500, 4x4, 5.9L. The hard brake line on the drivers side rusted through and blew on me a couple days ago. Obviously I need to replace it - does anyone know where I can find out what the diameter on the hard brake line is? Otherwise I'm going to have to cut it to take to the parts store to get the proper diameter and I really don't want to do that. I'm buying all the parts and someone else is fixing for me - I don't really have the proper tools to cut this line!! Would really like to avoid doing that!

    Thanks in advance!

  • ky custody/child support questions - please help!!?

My husband has a 9 year old with a woman who has 4 other kids (not my husbands kids), is unemployed and lives on the SSDI from her 14 year old as well as child support for all of them - rent is paid by the state, as is food, daycare, utilities, etc. My husband pays his portion of the child support religiously, has never been late and often is ahead by a few weeks. We recently got notice that she thinks she's not getting enough money from my husband and wants more so a review has been ordered.

    The questions I have are:

    1. What (besides income) is considered when modifying these orders? For instance, my husband is diabetic (was diagnosed AFTER the initial child support order) and we spend at least $100/mo after insurance on medications and doctors. We are also living paycheck to paycheck right now due to the economy and are currently going through a mortgage modification because of job loss. If his child support increases significantly we WILL lose our home. It is certain. Right now he pays $25/wk (because she was/is on welfare for about 15 years), I have used KY's child support calculation forms and it looks like my husband's obligation will jump from $25/wk to roughly $100/wk. That is an additional $300/mo. This leads me to my next question.

    2. Is there a limit to how much child support can increase at any one time? Will they actually raise his weekly obligation by 400%? Is there anything we can do to prevent this?

    3. He carries (and always has) medical, dental and vision insurance for his child. Will they factor his cost into what he pays? In other words, will they deduct the premium amounts from his payments to child support?

    4. This is a child that resulted from a one-night stand (before 'we' got serious). They were never married, etc. There is no court ordered custody involved. From what I can tell, in KY, they each have equal rights to the child since there is no custody agreement. We live in OH, she lives in KY. She has had several truancy charges brought against her, a domestic issue involving a boyfriend beating one of her other kids and pulling a gun on him and ALL of her kids have very poor grades in school, poor attendance, etc. She is a piss-poor mother who clearly only keeps having kids because she can live for free and bring in a ton of money in child support & welfare payments. We try to spend as much time as possible with his daughter, but it becomes difficult because the mom will up and move with no notice and we then have to spend months tracking her down to spend time. We, on the other hand, own our home, we both have jobs, no criminal or other court related issues, our kids have excellent attendance and grades in school, we are active in our community and we have moved only 1 time in the past 9 years - to buy a house. If we decide to pursue custody, do we file in OH or KY? Also, if we file for custody, due to there being no custody order at this time, do we have to prove her unfit or is it basically just establishing custody now?

I know this is a lot, but we are desperate for help/advice. We would really love to hear from someone who has experience with KY child support and custody matters.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Ohio Failure to Appear Warrants?

My local court (Brown County, Ohio) has issued a warrant for FTA for my ex-husband for failing to appear for sentencing for non-payment of child support (he's up to $16k now). This is not the first time he has had an FTA warrant issued. The last time he had one I watched him get pulled over by local police officials and be arrested for a different warrant (property damage) and the officers did not hold him on the FTA warrant and did not notify the issuing county that they had him in custody.

The most recent warrant was issued on 03/31/10. My questions are:

    1. Is the FTA warrant a state-wide deal (he lives in a different county than the one issuing the warrant, although the county issuing has notified the county he lives in)?

    2. Is it normal for police officers to ignore child support related FTA warrants? And, why do they do this?

    3. Will I get into trouble if I nag the sheriff's office daily to arrest him on the warrant (placing calls to them daily until I annoy them enough to arrest him just to get me to leave them alone)? I know where he lives, who he works for, what he drives and where he hangs out at - they should be able to use this info to find him, right?

    4. How do I get police to act on this warrant? They have largely ignore prior warrants.

I realize that a lot of people think "If he's in jail he's not making payments....". However, realize this: he already isn't making payments - my only option to get him to "wake up" and realize that he has a responsibility to his kids to help support them, anything less than punishing him for non-support is condoning his actions.

Also realize that there are many, many, many single parents out there on welfare - a lot of them would not be on it if child support payments were being made (obviously this excludes those generational welfare families); the non-action of police officers as related to these kinds of warrants is paramount to saying "don't worry, I'll work to support your kids through welfare while you get off scott-free".

I have had this child support order in place for 12 years. He is $16k behind. Every payment he has made for 12 years has come to me ONLY by way of court dates (to stay out of jail) and drivers license suspension - he works for cash so he can avoid wage withholding. I have, in the meantime, worked my tail off to put myself through nursing school while raising my kids on a part-time income (I worked for this - I have NEVER been in the welfare system for anything). My daughters are now 13 and 15 - they deserve the world and I deserve to receive child support from their father. I am beyond fed up with the whole system, and I would appreciate any advice that can be offered to help me make him face his responsibilities.

  • Can bad (really bad) O2 sensors cause transmission fail safe mode?

Our 2000 Isuzu Rodeo is in transmission fail safe mode, but the OBDII is only giving codes for bad O2 sensors (we've known these are bad all along) - could the bad O2 sensors cause the transmission fail safe mode? The transmission shop we had the tranny rebuilt at a year ago said there isn't anything wrong with the transmission - it's in fail safe mode because of something electrical - could this be it? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • Parents of teenagers - need some advice!?

My 14 year old daughter will turn 15 on March 1. When I asked what she wants to do for her birthday, she said she didn't know, that she didn't really have any friends to invite over. She never goes anywhere or does anything with anyone, nor does she ever invite anyone over here or to go out and do stuff. I am very worried about her social development. She is a very good kid, great grades, minds her manners, behaves in school, no problems that I can see. However, she has no real friends and I'm worried about that. Her favorite activity is to sit in her room, door closed, music on. She will sit in there ALL day long, even in the dark. We got her a cell phone for christmas hoping that she would text people, etc. and help her make friends, but she doesn't use it. It sits on her dresser, powered off, all day every day. When I told her earlier today that I'm worried about her not having any friends, she smiled at me and told me that she was ok and liked being alone. She's always cheerful, but she is also always home. I've tried to encourage her joining clubs, sports, something....but she won't have any of it. She's one of those kids who is easy to take advantage of. I am extremely worried about her future - if she doesn't develop some kind of self-esteem/confidence she is going to struggle through college and adulthood. She wants to be an archaeologist and I'm worried that she'll give up on it when she realizes that she will have to stand up in front of people and talk, or has to compete in some way. I don't know what to do. How do I teach her to be more aggressive and help her develop some social skills that will protect her and help her get where she wants to be in life? I don't know what to do! If anyone has any advice I would REALLY appreciate it!

  • Pontiac brake problems?

I have a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am GT and have been hearing this crunching/grinding noise when I press the brake pedal in. I have replaced the brakes and rotors on all 4 wheels several times with high quality pads/rotors (not the cheap stuff & professionally done at a garage, not by me). But I am still hearing this noise, the garage tells me that it is the calipers, because they are aluminum and wear quickly. Has anyone else had this problem? Any cures? Are there aftermarket calipers available that are better quality than oem calipers? It's gotten really bad now, I'm hearing it more frequenly and more loudly than before.

I'd appreciate it if anyone has any intelligent information to share!

  • Is it too late to file charges on this?

On January 26, 2009 we loaned our vehicle to my brother to use for 3 days until his car was fixed. On the morning of January 27th, his friend (who lived with him) took the keys to the car (without permission), took off in it, backed into a tree (completely ripping off the bumper and crushing the metal behind it) and then jerked the shifter back without pushing in the button and destroyed the transmission. He keeps promising he's going to "make good on it", but has not so far. We didn't press charges against him at the time because we have known him for over 15 years and felt like we could trust him to make it good so we didn't want to do anything that would go on his permanent record.

In the meantime, we have had to foot the $2000 bill to rebuild the transmission and it still has the damage to the bumper. Now, we found out that he has plans to move to North Carolina and has no intention of fixing this.

We have 2 people that are able and willing to give statements that he took the car without permission and wrecked it and the transmission repair shop is willing to give a statement that the damage to the transmission was caused by the shifter being jerked back causing the band inside the transmission to break, hence the need to rebuild the transmission.

We live in Ohio, but this happened in a neighboring county. So my questions are:

    1. Is it too late to do anything about this?

    2. Do we call the sheriff in the county we live in or the county he lives in (which is also the county this took place in)?

    3. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Can jerking on the shifter cause transmission damage?

A "friend" of the family jerked back on our shifter in an 2000 Isuzu Rodeo and it broke off - can this cause transmission damage? We are wondering because now, all of the sudden, the transmission has gone out & the repair shop said it looks like abuse. We want to know if this is something that can be caused by breaking the shifter (he jerked back on it without holding in the button and it broke completely out of the housing & all) & better yet, he didn't have permission to be driving our vehicle in the first place! What would you do in this situation?

  • Anyone know anything about a C-Peptide test?

My husband is a type II diabetic and his A1c keeps creeping up - it's gone from 7.2 to 11.5 in the last 3 months. He is very controlled and careful. His doctor has ordered a C-Peptide test to determine whether or not he's making insulin. Does anyone know anything about this test and what "good" results are? Any info would be helpful!

    Thanks!

After the required year of med-surg I plan on specializing in o.b.

  • I'm having trouble with chemistry - can anyone help, please?

We're going over pH values in my chemistry class, I'm having a hard time figuring out if I'm doing this right. If you know how to do this will you tell me if I'm right & if I'm not will you help me figure out how to do it correctly? I can't get my brain wrapped around this!

What are the pH values of the following solutions?

    A) 0.15 M HNO3

    = log(0.15) = -0.82 = 0.82

    B) 1.5 x 10^-3 M HNO3

    = -log(10^-3) = 2.83

    C) 0.15 M NaOH

    = log(0.15) = -0.82 = 0.82

    D) 1.5 x 10^-3 M NaOH

    = -log(10^-3) = -2.83 = 2.83

I'm sure I'm doing this wrong! I feel like I'm leaving a bunch of stuff out, but my book doesn't explain it very well and I'm lost! If anyone can tell me what I'm missing (preferably in the form of steps to follow, etc. rather than just giving me the answers) I'd really appreciate it!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Can an electronic check be presented to the bank early?

If I schedule an electronic payment with my creditor, for a specific amount to be transferred on a specific date, can that creditor present the transfer for payment earlier than scheduled without penalty?

Example: I make a car payment online (via electronic check), It was scheduled to come out on 01/03, but they presented it to my bank on 01/02. The money was there to cover it, but I'm worried that if I schedule my next one, they will present it early again, and this time, the money WILL NOT be there early.

Does anyone know of any laws or such that allow them to do this without being resposible for any overdrafts, etc. that occur as a result of them taking payment early?

  • Help with atomic mass unit formula?

I am in Chemistry for the first time ever and am in need of help big time!

I am totally lost on atomic mass unit and converting, below is the problem I have. I would appreciate it if someone could help me set up the formula - I will do the work myself (don't want an answer, just help with the formula).

Find the mass in atomic mass units of the following:

    1. 1 O atom, with a mass of 2.66 x 10 to the -23 g

    2. 1 Br atom, with a mass of 1.31 x 10 to the -22 g

Again, I AM NOT LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO DO MY WORK FOR ME. I just don't know where to even begin here, my book does not explain this well and I can't even figure out what the formula is that I need to use to get the answer. If someone could help maybe explain this to me (in english-for dummies?) I would really appreciate it! This is WAY over my head!

    Thanks!

  • Uncontested child custody modification?

My step son has lived with us since 2003. The current custody order (from a dissolution) reads "The parties agree that the child shall reside primarily with mother, with father receiving open and flexible visitation to meet the schedules of both parents" and the parties agree that all decisions pertaining to the child will be decided by both parties after reasonable discussion.

Due to disciplinary reasons, his son has lived with us since 2003. Now the high school wants custody paperwork and tell us that this paperwork says that my husband does not have custody.

So....now we have to do a modified custody order to show that he lives "primarily" with his father. Mom & dad are in agreement and willing to do what it takes to fix the paperwork, but we don't know how to do this! The court said to write a modified agreement (from scratch - there is no form to use for this!), get it notarized and file it with the court for a judges signature. We are on a HUGE tight dealine, has to be signed by the judge and in the schools hands by friday (10/10/08). Anybody able to help get us started with the wording we need to use? We are totally lost! This is to be filed in KY.

    Thanks!

  • How to fight your local government (Ohio)

The general health district in Clermont County Ohio has a program called their Basic System Assessment. This is where they go around to every resident in the county that is NOT hooked up to the public sewer system and "assess" the condition of their on-site sewage system (in my case, a septic tank & leach lines) every 38 months.

Well, they have an amazing number of "failing systems", of which they require complete replacement (an average of $25,000 - $35,000 per system all their permitting and re-assessment fees). As for the BSA itself, they charge you $30 to come inspect, then $45/mo. for each month your system goes without the "required" replacement.

This year, they chose to do their inspections in May (Southern Ohio got 18" ABOVE the average rainfall for May during this time) - soggy yards everywhere - and EVERY house on my ENTIRE street failed the inspection. I have since paid a professional inspection company to come inspect our system and they said they can't find a single problem. No seepage, no odor, no nothing!

The county does not publish the "laws" for this inspection, and there is no appeals process. How does one go about fighting something like this? How can the county force me to spend $25,000 to replace a system that is only 20 years old, and that an independent, licensed company has said there is no problem with? Any ideas?

  • Ohio school district income tax question?

Does anyone know how I find out when the income tax levy expires in my school district? The disctrict I live in (Clermont Northeastern) already gets ~60% of my property taxes, 1% of my income and now is putting a ballot on November's ticket for more money. With the economy as bad as it is right now I would like to know where they propose I pull this extra money from - I don't have stockpiles of the green stuff just laying around.

I would like to find out when the current income tax levy expires and when it is due to be up for renewal but I cannot find any of that information on Ohio's Dept. of Tax website, nor the school's website. Any links or other info would help!

    Thanks!

    Question:

  • Help! Kitten vomitting...what do I do?

We rescued a 3 week old kitten and have had her on KMR for the past 3 weeks. Vet wants us to start weaning her to Friskies Salmon, Turkey or White Fish. We gave her the KMR this morning, Salmon at lunch, and more KMR for dinner. After drinking her milk she became very lethargic and weak, started vomitting - has vomitted 5 times in last half hour. She is vomitting up the salmon she ate at lunch time. Very weak and shaky.

Don't know what to do. Never had a pet before, so I'm learning as I go. Could she just not be ready for solids yet? Maybe allergic to the salmon? Could she be sick? Is there something I should be doing since she's vomitting so much? Can't get in touch with the vet till tomorrow morning....anyone have experience with this?
