  • Best connection for optimal sound quality in a 7.1 channel home theater system?

I'm seriously considering purchasing a 7.1 channel surround sound system for my home very soon

seeing as I have a HDTV and PS3 (with HDMI cable) I estimate that besides the system I shouldn't need too much else.

I'm thinking about getting a 7.1 system that feeds directly off a bluray player

but if I can I would rather just get a 7.1 AV receiver and plug my PS3 into that.

    anywhoo my question is this.

for the best sound quality will an HDMI cable connecting to the receiver do the job or should I also purchas an additional cable such as PCM or bitstream connetcion optical cable?

  • How to figure out what dancing lessons to take?

I am 21 years old. A powerful Bass vocal part singer. and an above average actor. When I audition for shows I'm told that I do a wonderful job at singing and acting, even from people not associated with production. They go out of their way to compliment me. but my problem is primarily with musical Auditions and dancing. I don't know how to dance. and when I try following along to the steps outlined at an audition I move around in the direction but can never smoothly pull off a move. and it shows obviously in the audition process. This I believe is usually what keeps me out of so many shows.

I need to learn how to dance or at least be able to follow along for a dance routine. and I know that if I knew how I'd probably be great at it. but the thing is I don't' know where to go or what to take to learn how to dance appropriate for musical theatre. It's not like there are any dance studios that teach a course called "musical theatre"

What dance courses would be the most appropriate or at least help me out a little

  • First Read Thru Tonight?

I recently made it into Man of La Mancha. this is the first time I have been in a show at this theatre. ( I have experience elswhere) but I haven't been in a musical or really sung for a while. I am one of the Muleteers. (probably Anselmo...I read for him)

I want advice from people who are familiar with the show.

Just Curious... Any advice on how to play the character. I am unsure because I am usually cast as a fatherly type character. So this is a little different for me, and I want to be impressive

  • Audition...Choreography Advice?

I am male, 20, bass vocal, and I am advanced in both singing and acting, but I am not skilled in dancing. Sure after practice I can figure out a choreographed dance well enough, but I hardly ever get stuff right the first time. I would seek out lessons (If I could find them) but my problem is right now I don't have time to learn because the next show I want to be cast in auditions take place next week!

The Show is Man of La Mancha if it helps.

I am familiar with the director. I have not as of yet been cast in any of his shows but I was a valuable and neccessary crew member for him recently. (they would not have been able to do some thigns if they didn't have a set of hands there (me) to do it).

I want any advice on things that I can do to help me prepare for the audition regarding being able to follow choreography.

  • Man of La Mancha Auditions?

I will be auditioning for Man of La Mancha this spring at a community theatre. I am 20 (21 in June) and an extremely strong Bass/Baritone singer. I am curious what I should study up on or go for. I am thinking the Duke, but I don't know. I have seen the movie with Peter O' Toole but not the stage play. Is there anythign special I should knwo for the audition? any advice for this musical in particular?

NOTE: I already know the basic concepts of auditioning, like prepping the voice, reading the play, practice, etc. I want to know if there is anything for this one in particular you think I should go for.
