6 AnswersCurrent Events10 years agoLibertarian v. Republican party....?
I am a pro-life libertarian, who wants to run for public office in the future. I am a card-carrying, dues paying member of the Libertarian Party. However, I recognize that the Libertarian Party is not such a vehicle which can bring immediate attention to me as a candidate.
I am considering changing my political party membership from the Libertarian Party to the Republican Party. I see a party as a vehicle, since the goals and objectives are really defined by who's driving it at the time. I could definitely keep my conscience clean with the Libertarian Party, but there are advantages in being with the Republican Party. For example, the Republican Party would bring immediate attention to a candidate and also has more networking opportunities within it than the Libertarian Party.
Should I stay with the Libertarian Party, the vehicle which is not going anywhere anytime soon, or should I join the Republican Party and work to drive the vehicle to what I believe to be the best direction?

11 AnswersPolitics10 years agoWhy should I not see transsexuals as being deceptive?
I have no problem with the transsexual community; to each his/her own. However, I am very judgmental on how people portray themselves. I do not believe I have any right to tell others how to act or look; however, I see those who are genuine with me with the utmost respect. When encountering transsexuals, I see those who intentionally portray themselves as not who they are as being deceptive, which I disrespect. You feel some way, that's fine. However, do not portray yourself to me in such a way to show how you "feel" as opposed to who you are. Are there other ways I should see this?
9 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender10 years agoWhy is my laptop screen square?
My hard drive crashed. I bought a new one and my operating system was Windows Vista. I installed Windows Vista and upgraded to Windows 7. Now, there are vertical black bars on the left and right side of the screen, which is now square. How do I go back to the widescreen that I'm used to? Thank you for your help.

4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhat kind of law can I practice solely in the evening (non-court hours) or weekends?
When I graduate from law school, one option for employment is to seek out a federal job. However, I do want to practice law and would be interested in "putting out my own shingle" while I get myself "on my own feet." What kind of law could I practice where I would be able to work my primary job during the day and practice law in the evenings and/or weekends?
1 AnswerLaw & Legal1 decade agoOut of 212,720,027 eligible voters in 2008,....?
Out of 212,720,027 eligible voters in 2008, 87,494,126 either voted for third party candidates or didn't vote at all. I understand the frustration with the process and with democracy, but I was wondering if those who chose not to vote would let me know why they chose not to participate in the process?
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoShould I take the bar in Louisiana before moving to another state?
I am currently an evening part-time student at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I am at the end of my second year of the four-year program.
My wife and I haven't made final decisions yet, but are leaning to moving to another state when I complete school.
The Louisiana bar will not allow me to practice in another state's court, it would make me eligible to work in federal court, regarding bankruptcy, etc.
Should I take the bar in Louisiana before moving to another state or should I focus my time on studying to take the bar of the state we will be moving to?
Answers from attorneys only please.
Thank you.
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhat is the civil procedure of South Dakota courts?
My wife and I are considering South Dakota as one of the states to move to when I complete law school. I want to pursue a clerkship in an appellate court wherever we move to before working in a firm. I'm having trouble finding the procedure on the state website, so I'm looking for help. I see that there are magistrate courts, circuit courts and the supreme courts, but can't find any information on the procedure of such.
