When I'm in the USA later this month I plan on buying some new MAC make up and I know that they can do it for you for free if you purchase their products.

Do i still have to give a tip on this?

I don't know the protocol on this as I'm from a country that doesn't tip.

I'm pretty interested in doing a year or two abroad in Canada (it's super easy for Australians to get work visas for Canada).

I don't really want to go to Vancouver because that's just a little too typical for me (I don't mean that in a bad way, Vancouver seems beautiful, hence why it attracts so many Aussies).

I was thinking about Calgary because it's a lot smaller which is what I'm more attracted to.

So can you tell me all you can about Calgary. Especially things like where is best for a 23 year old. And what the major employment sectors are. (I'm particularly interested in PR/Communications), which neighbourhoods are best, which areas to avoid, weather, etc.

Here are some things I like- so tell me if Calgary fits any of this or of another city you would recommend:

-A small town feel

-Country music

-Bars (local bars as opposed to clubs)

-scenery

-shopping

-restaurants

-young people (20-30 year olds)

-low crime rates

-nightlife

Like many Aussies, I've been drawn to the idea of heading over to Canada for a year or so... but the question is WHERE????

Ideally I wouldn't want such a large city like Vancouver...I'd much prefer somewhere that has a homely feel to it. like a city with a small town feel.. if that makes sense.

Something that has a good country music scene and more bars rather than clubs... yet still has a good economy and job prospects... But most importantly, somewhere I can make friends! :)

So if you think you know of a Canadian city that I'd like, just let me know.

So, I have read a few different articles to try and understand what SOPA and PIPA are but I'm still not understanding it completely. I think I understand the concept of it, but it's the implications that I'm not quite understanding.

Could someone please explain it as simply as possible.

And also, will it have different affects on individuals outside of the USA compared to those in the USA?

My apartment complex advised us to set up google voice so that way we can have a number that has the local area code (as our mobile numbers are not from this state) so that way we can use the access box for when we have guests over so we don't have to walk down and unlock the front gate.

But if I do set it up and get a new number, will I loose my existing number (which everyone already has).

We just signed a 4 month lease in an apartment complex.

I am not from the USA and therefore have NO idea how tv works over here.

Do I need to have cable in order to watch tv??? If I just had an antenna and a tv can I receive any channels?? If so, what would they be.

If I do need cable, what is the cheapest I would be able to get. And what are the basic channels that I would get?

I need a car just for 3-4 months... so I was thinking of buying just a real cheap car ($1000-$1300).. but how much would I be looking at for other expenses such as insurance and registration and what not.

I'm not from this country and therefore I do not have a state issued drivers license (I am able to drive here, I've rented a car twice here already)..will that have an effect when it comes to insuring/registering the car.

And roughly, how much would it cost?

The other option was to rent a car for this period of time.. but that's looking at just a little over $2000 WITHOUT the added charges such as coverage (I'm under 25 so it is even more) and that's like $25/day... so this option is going to be less of a hassle but is it going to be a lot more expensive???

Oh and also, I know i'm not from the country.. but I did just sign a lease so I do have a place of residence, which I know is something you need to do all of the above.

Is it possible to get an internet connection for our new apartment and cable tv for a term (such as 3 or 4 months)

What would be a nice route to take, we don't necessarily want to take the quickest.. but we don't want it to be too long (hopefully no more than 8 hours.. preferably less)

If it can't be done in that time frame (and we just have to take the interstate), could you please suggest somewhere scenic or worth visiting to stop for lunch please

It's a major city so I know it's going to be expensive but where would a cheaper but still very convenient location be to stay in (if you have any actual hotel recommendations that would be greatly appreciated).

Also, what are some must see/do things in Boston.

We don't have a car so we will be relying on either public transport or walking (preferably walking, if that's a realistic option).

We will be there for about 5 days and we are both 22.

My sister and I are going to Houston for the day tomorrow and we want to know some cool 'must do/see' things!

I'm in Austin at the moment and want to drive down to Galveston tomorrow and stay for a few nights.

With the wildfires going on now is road to Galveston still accessible or is there road closures that will unable me to get through??

Also, is there a storm warning (hurricane or severe storm) for the Galveston area?

If I am able to get down there, what is there to do in Galveston for a couple of 21 year old girls?

I just spent some time in a collage town in Wisconsin for a few weeks and I really liked it... but I want to see some more of the country but I want to settle somewhere for a few months.

Could you please suggest a good town/city that I may like based on the following:

-I would prefer that it not be too big

-Have a good nightlife (not clubs, more bars/pubs)

-A collage town would be great, or at least a lot of younger people like myself (I'm 22)

-I would love it to be in the South.

So, I've been trying to find where to live for 4 months with my sister in the Dallas area. We were thinking Uptown, West Village or the Park Cities. But now we are thinking of Addison (thanks to some of the answers I got on here from previous questions). Do you think that this would be a good city for two 21 year old girls.

Also, seeing as though we won't have a car, how long would it take to get to Dallas (using the DART)?

And if you could, please recommend some good apartment complexes where I would find people my own age.

My sister and I, both 21, will be in San Francisco for about 4 nights in August.

My Aunty suggested staying in the Union Square area but I had read a few comments on various sites saying to stay away from there and stick to Fisherman's Wharf... Should we pay that extra that it will cost for a hotel and stay in the Fisherman's Wharf area or do you think Union Square will be safe and nice enough.

I have never really been to a 'bad, unsafe' city or suburb, so I'm worried it may be a little too confronting for my first stop on our trip (previously, I have been to European cities such as Vienna, Rome,Prague and Paris..all of which, to me, seemed pretty safe...And I'm from Australia, so my closest city is Sydney.. but I only ever go into the 'city' and not the outer areas).

Also, we are looking at taking a flight out of SFO at night (around mid night).. Do you think this is ok to do... and how would I get from Fisherman's Wharf (or Union Square) to the airport. Would a taxi cost a lot... and are there trains orbusess there?

I am thinking that I would like to move into the Park Cities area and from what I've read, The Village seems to be the best place for young people. I'm 21, and don't know anyone in Dallas so I thought this would hopefully give me the chance to make some friends at least.

North bridge and West side seem really nice, but they're a little out of my price range (I only need 4 months, so the shorter the term is, the more it costs). So which of the other apartments there would be nice? And I read somewhere (mind you, I only real this on ONE site, so it may not be true) that these days there is a less 'young professional' crowd and more of families in need of financial assistance....???

Also, are there any other apartment complexes that have a lot of young people, my age, in them that you could recommend?

I'm looking at paying around $1500 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment (then I will also have to rent furniture).

My sister and I are in our early 20's and will be living in Dallas (or the Dallas area) for 4 months.

We are after somewhere that has access to the DART as more than likely we wont have a car.

Ideally we would like a (furnished) apartment in a good complex, in particular, somewhere where lots of other young people live so that way we have the opportunity to meet people our own age.

So if you could, please tell me what cities/suburbs to be looking at... and if you could, a nice complex that you think would suit us.

We are after a 2 (maybe 3) bedroom place preferably under $2000 (including utilities and furnished)... but even better would be around $1800 :)

I'm looking for tickets to Taylor Swift in Arlington, Tx and on Ticketmaster the best seats are in something like section 205... but on StubHub they have Tea Party tickets available (right up the front)... That can't be right, can it???

Is it at all possible to get travel insurence that just covers things like flights and lost luggage and DOES NOT cover any medical aspects.

I am traveling to the USA and as a requirement I need to have medical insurence (which I have already obtained) But this does not cover flights and hotels.

This is something I am really tossing up between. A bag (more of a duffel bag, rather than a square suitcase) or a backpack?

I was thinking of one of those backpacks that does have the wheels and handle but I seem to be reading a lot of comments saying that with these designs you compromise on needed features, eg, small wheels and a not so good harness.

I know with Europe having wheels is quite a drawback but I have read that with the USA this isn't such a worry.... I don't know how true this is though.

I'm just worried that I wont be able to manage a backpack on my own.

I will be traveling all over the country using various methods of transport for 4 months.

Any suggestions or advice will be most appreciated.
