  • Fellow senior citizens, do you have any suggestions on how to deal with a fear of flying?

I haven't been on a plane in nearly 20 years, as I hate to travel, and especially by plane. At the end of the month I am flying from Sacramento to Denver, and I am dreading it. I feel so bad about this trip, that I don't even want to go. The reason for the trip is big family reunion in Denver, where I have lots of relatives that I haven't seen in many years. The best part about the event this year is that I have a sister who has been found. Yes found! My mom had to give up her first child to adoption, & none of us siblings ever met her. We all knew about her, & of course wondered about her, & finally her daughter found us, thru an ancestry thing. She reached out to us & her mom

(our lost sister) wants to meet us. They will be at this family reunion, so I really have to go. My brothers bought me round trip plane tickets too, so I can't say I can't afford it. I told them I was afraid of flying, & they laughed at me. I have to fly alone too, because my sister here is too ill to come with me.

I'm ashamed to say I dread this trip. I am tempted to drink & take a relaxant during the flight, but don't want to arrive all messed up. Can you give me ideas on how to relax? Thank you.

p.s. I do have another question I'll ask later on how I can't break the ice on talking to my new sister. I am a shy person.

  • Senior citizens: Would you go to a food pantry or another type of place that gives out food for those in need for free?

Some of us seniors, or nearly senior citizens are in poverty & get hungry towards the end of the month. Regular good closets usually only give out canned goods or stuff we cannot eat. But during the holiday season they give out turkeys & good trimmings we can eat,& freeze for several days of meals. Would you ask somebody for a ride to such a place if you find yourself in need of help,or would you just make do with what you have or don't have?

  • If a disabled senior citizen in Sacramento CA died & hadn't paid for or made pre arraignments for their remains, what happens to them?

If the deceased was a widow & had no savings, & nobody who wanted to pay for the cremation, would the county coroner do it for free? I heard that years ago the poor & unclaimed dead were buried in a potter's field, sometimes in a common grave. I have an objection to that & want to be cremated, fully dressed on my jeans & T-shirt. Just because you can be dead & penniless doesn't mean anybody should have the right to be disrespectful to your corpse. But unfortunately if you are dead you have no say in the matter & if a friend or family tries to tell the coroner's office anything they become suspicious. 12 years ago when my husband died at home, lying on the couch watching Leno. He was dying of heat failure. It was obvious he died from this. Nut when I told the coroner they could not autopsy him thru became mean & threatened to hold him there until an investigation. Which of could could be weeks after his funeral. I won, but I have nobody to fight for me. Someone already promised to throw my ashes on the freeway,,, but said no to the best part. I guess it's illegal to throw an urn of cremains at a cop car. But is it likely somebody can claim the correct ashes for no charge?

  • What could be the meaning or cause of my recurring dreams of murder?

I have been having a disturbing recurring dream about me having killed a woman years ago. Actually, I have been having this same dream for many years. In the dream I am either angry at an unknown woman, or I am robbing her. Then I kill her. I think I bashed her head in with a bat. Immediately afterwards I regret it, but am more worried about hiding her body. I then tell my husband what I did, & he helps me bury her. >fast-forward to present day< The victim's body will soon be discovered. In my dream I can barely remember the act, but am scared that it will be traced back to me. I don't know what to do. My husband has been dead for nearly 12 years. I cannot go to prison for this old forgotten murder. When I awaken I truthfully feel like my life is over.

Any ideas as to the cause of meaning of my nightmare?

  • Senior Citizens : Have you ever seen a U.F.O.?

Yes, I am talking about flying saucers, and/or unidentified objects up in the sky.

Do you think/know/or believe that there are other worlds out in space that have intelligent species living on them?

  • Senior Citizens...What were your favorite t.v. shows when you were a kid?

The earliest ones I remember were "Family Affair" and "My Three Sons", which we always watched when I was really young. But my childhood favorites were "The Brady Bunch" & "The Partridge Family". What I always thought was really weird is that boys never admited to watching those shows. Even as adults today guys my age (early 50's) won't admit they watched, but come up with good insults about the episodes, which they obviously saw.

Anyhow, what did you watch? Were they reruns by the ya got to see them? I watched reruns of "Superman" and thought they were new episodes so that was a fun show to watch too.

And no....I wasn't a couch potatoe back then.

  • Where the hell is the submit button?

I cannot find the submit button to answer any of the questions on here. I looked everywhere, it's just not here anymore. I'm on my android, if that makes any difference.

I'm asking this question in the S.C. category because maybe somebody here will know my frustration with stupid phones and yahoo messing with stuff they need to leave alone.

Anyhow, this probably won't post ..if I find the submit button to even try. Or it will be reported and deleted. Ugh!

Please, if you can tell me where and how to find the submit button to answers some questions, I will be grateful.

    Thanks.

  • Senior Citizens....Do you sleep with your pets?

    Who?

    What?

    Where?

    When?

    Why?

I sleep with my cats. Nya (the cute on I'm using as my profile) sleeps on top of my dresser so she can keep watch over any boogie men who dare enter. But Dready & Irie sleep on me or my pillow. Lucy (the tortie) is too hyper to sleep, so she meows & tries to wake us up. When that doesn't work, she bites me. Sometimes I wish cats could take ambien too.

Anyhow. Who else has the pleasure of sleeping with their beloved pets?

  • Can anti-depressant medications help an Alzheimer's Dementia patient feel better?

My mother ( aged 93) was diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia early this year, but my sister & I suspected she had it last year. She has signs of depression too & just wants to sleep all day. She has hallucinatiins & delusions too & seems upset by some of them. We love our mom & want the remainder of her life to be more happy/enjoyable for her, so we are thinking of asking her doctor if she can be put on Anti-Depressant meds. We are wondering if it would slow down the progression of her dementia too. If she was happier maybe she would be healthier and live longer. Does anybody have experience of having a parent in this situation and has certain medications helped them feel better.

I'm sorry this was long winded, but I have been wanting to ask some questions regarding dementia but didn't know how. And I figured "Why ask? Probably get a violation & deletion anyway"...

    Thanks for your help.

  • What would you do if you woke up tomorrow & you were a little orange kitten?

A very cute kitten that is, except with your own brain & memories inside your fuzzy little head. Would you be glad or sad? Mad? Would you go tell your dad? No, seriously... What would you do?

  • Do Betta fish sleep a lot? I just got him yesterday & he quit swimming. Is he sick?

I don't know much about fish, but it doesn't seem like this is normal behavior.....he's just hanging out on the rocks & didn't eat his breakfast this morning. He seemed fine last night, but one of my cats might have scared when I went to bed. The cats can't touch him, but they do look in. Can my fish see them & get scared?

  • Why do people ask questions....If they can't handle the truth?

Yesterday, my Mother-In-Law called me. She said..."Donni, I know this is a hard time for you, so what have you been doing?" I told her the truth. She immediately, started in with the guilt trip..."Oh darling, don't drink! Cliffy would be so sad you are doing that." Then I said something really mean. It was the truth...BUTT!! nobody... not even me can handle it. These people we love.....are [place bad word here] when they up & die on us. Am I right? I love him,but I hate him for dying.
