  • Can multiple routers interfere with each other?

    I recently moved into an apartment complex temporarily for an internship. I have a router plugged in and I am disappointed by the speeds. Uploading isn't bad, I am getting slightly over 1 Mb/s, almost 1.5 Mb/s sometimes. However, my download speed is rivaled by the speed of dial-up. I'm down around 30 kb/s. The router states it can run well above these speeds for the download, and I simply cannot figure out what is going on. My only guess is the fact that there are almost 20 routers in range, all with very strong signals. Or the wireless card could be going bad, but with my upload speeds I would doubt it is the card. What want to know, is there anything I can do to improve the speeds, or am I just going to have to plug the computer into the router to get my 25/5Mb/s?
