  • Will plus net suit my needs?

Hi, basically I used to get my Internet through my hotspot on my phone. But recently I got a new phone and it has a 2gb tethering limit/month. So, I'm looking into getting broadband. I will be using it for playing games online with friends (I generally only play minecraft on multiplayer) surfing the web, and watching and uploading (I upload overnight, so that's not an issue for me) to youtube. I was thinking of getting the 16mb unlimited plan. Bearing in mind I'm used to gaming over 3G giving me pings of around 100ms and a down speed of 5mb, which was almost sufficient, will that plusnet plan meet my needs? The nearest 'green box' (can't remember the correct name) is about 40m from my house, and the exchange is probably less than quarter of a mile from the green box.

    All help will be appreciated!

  • Classic mini switch panel fastenings?

I have a rover mini city e and the other day when I pulled the choke out, the switch panel pulled out with it at that one side. I found the nut on the floor today, but not the bolt. Although I can get another bolt to use, I don't really know how the bracket that holds it on works as I can't get to see it. Can someone tell me the best way to put it back on and also maybe get me a link to a bracket so I can see how it works. Any help will be greatly appreciated as it is becoming a pain holding the switch panel everytime I pull the choke out!

  • Classic mini engine temperatures?

I bought a rover mini city e about 3 months ago. It was a long drive back (150 miles!) and the temp gauge sat nicely at just below half way, which I believe to be normal. About 3 weeks ago it started to get cooler at nights, I checked the coolant to make sure there was enough antifreeze in it, turned out it was jut water and nothing else, I drained some water out and topped it up with almost a litre of coolant. Nothing different happened with the temp gauge, still normal. Last week I had a new fan belt fitted as the old one was beginning to squeak and the battery wasn't charging properly. Also whilst it was there I had them tune the engine up as it was sometimes spluttering. When I got it back they said that the fuel mixture was too rich. It runs much smoother now. On the first longish trip out since the fan belt and tuning, i had been out in it for about an hour, when on my way home, the heater has started to get colder and colder. The hose going into the heater is normally very hot to touch, but at this point it wasn't that hot at all. The gauge now doesn't come any higher than the blue line. I would like to know if any of you know why this may be? Is it the thermostat that has broken? That is my theory anyway. Is there a way I can test the thermostat? How do I remove it and where is it? and also what type should I get if it is the problem, I'm aware that there are different temperatures available, what one should mine have? And finally are they easy to fit? Any help will be much appreciated!

Note: the car is completely standard, no modifications.

  • Classic mini coolant?

I recently got a 1991 rover mini city e. It is now coming to winter and I wanted to know if there was enough antifreeze in it so I took the cap off the radiator and the liquid is really brown. I want to know why it is this colour, how I know if It has enough antifreeze to water ratio and how full you should fill the radiator. Do you recommend that I flush it out and start again? If so how do I empty out the current contents? Any help is much appreciated.

  • Classic mini heater problems?

I recently bought a 1991 mini city e and I have a problem with the heater. The first thing is that no matter weather the fan is on or off, what the temperature stick is set to and what position the switch (car, screen, off) is in cold air will blow from the air vents that point towards you, the faster you go the more cold air that comes through. And when the fan is on and set to car mode there is still no difference in this. Secondly when the fan is on and it is set to screen, hardly any air comes from the screen vents. And lastly the stick that you pull out to adjust the temperature doesn't make any difference at all, I just get cold air. I'm good at DIY but not too good with cars so please can you tell me what could be wrong and if I can easily fix it myself. Any help will be much appreciated!

  • car engine misfire or low idle?

I bought a 1991 Mini City E last week, when I bought it, it had passed its MOT just a couple of weeks beforehand, only needing tuning because of the emissions. On the way home I noticed that at idle it almost stalls due to the revs being so low, due to the revs being so low it makes the whole car shake, also sometime it is so low that the alternator light comes on!. At first I thought it just needed the idle raising, but I now think it is misfiring, due to the sound it makes. Is there a way to find out if it is just a low idle or if it is a misfire? And is it bad for the engine if it is misfiring as i cant afford to have it fixed just yet due to just buying the car. It has had new spark plugs and new spark plug wires, so if it is a misfire it surely wont be because of the spark plugs, so what could it be? Also if it is misfiring is that the cause if the low idle? The car doesnt have a rev counter, so I cant tell you what revs it idles at. The car has just 42,000 miles on it if that is any help. Any help will be much appreciated!

  • How to get laptop to enter high performance when plugged in?

On my windows 7 laptop I play games etc when plugged in, and when on battery I normally only do work, web browsing and facebook. When plugged in I need it on high performance for gaming but when on battery I only need it on balanced. I would like to have a setting so that when I plug it in it will go into high performance and when I unplug it, it will go on balanced. I have managed to create a desktop shortcut for both the power plans so all I need is a program where I can set the computer to run a certain Program when plugged in and unplugged. Please help me to resolve this. I have tried task scheduler but it does not have the options for when plugged in and unplugged. I really need this as I forget to put it back into balanced when unplugged and when I go on a game I forget to put it high performance and then I have to quit the game and change it. Any help will be much appreciated. Best answer will be awarded points!!!
