I've recently retired from the US Navy after 20 long years of active service. I am a Christian and you will find that I answer a lot of questions in the Religion & Spirituality section. See ya round!

  • Can an atheist honestly explain Jesus' empty tomb to me?

We know that Jesus' followers were so convinced of His resurrection that they went out loudly proclaiming Him as the Messiah even though they knew it meant almost certain death. Reasonably, you would have to conclude that they were most likely unwilling to die simply to perpetuate a hoax, so what really happened? Even disciples who had been skeptical of His message before His death suddenly became the staunchest of supporters.

If you're going to make the absurd claim that there's no evidence that Jesus ever existed, then you might as well know now that there is more ancient manuscript evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ than there is for Alexander the Great. No serious scholar supports the idea that Jesus never lived, regardless of who they believe Jesus actually was.

  • Is it true that Mormons believe that the Mayans were the lost tribe of Israel?

There isn't anything about Mayan language, art, architecture, technology, or religion that makes them look in the least bit Jewish to me...so this seems pretty obviously untrue. They can't seriously believe it, can they?

  • Question for atheists who don't believe in free will?

Let me get this straight, humans don't have free will? If this is true and our actions are the simple outcome of chemical reactions and unalterable facts of physics, then what is the point of holding someone accountable for crime? In fact, there must ultimately be no such thing as crime!

Based on your own logic, I pose this question: Why do so many of you ask "Why does God allow evil in the world?" when it is quite clear that quite a few of you don't believe in evil? Without free will there can be no evil or good, just preordained outcomes to chemical reactions in our brains or apparently random occurrences in the environment which in fact are simply following the laws of physics and are therefore unavoidable.

  • Is religion responsible for the majority of war?

I have heard the claim that religion is behind 90% of all wars many times, and yet an objective look at the reasons for most military actions clearly points to non-religious motives.

Please list wars fought over religion and your reasoning for each. Thanks.

  • Windows XP won't install?

Trying to load XP onto a brand new machine, but when it gets to the screen asking me to hit enter to install Windows the computer won't recognize any keyboard inputs. I think it may be because the keyboard is USB and Windows is looking for a PS2 keyboard. Any suggestions?

  • Are there brake upgrades for 1997 Chevy Silverados?

Does anyone make a kit to substantially upgrade the factory brakes? They're ok for everyday driving, but noticeably underpowered for towing.

  • Is there any DNA evidence that would prove the Book of Mormon to be true?

The Book of Mormon describes two distinct Semitic migrations to the Americas. Surely if this were true some DNA evidence would be left behind. Thanks for your help!

  • Could ethanol be made from the Kudzu vine?

Kudzu grows wild all over the Southern U.S., and has proven very difficult to get rid of. Why don't we capitalize on this and try to make ethanol out of it? It's not like the stuff isn't renewable enough!

  • What's would cause my truck's wipers to behave erratically?

I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado, and the wipers seem to have a mind of their own. Sometimes they do what the switch is telling them, other times they will speed up, slow down, or stop themselves wherever they happen to be at the moment. Any thoughts?

  • Why do atheists categorically reject any evidence of God?

Seriously, people have recorded a lot of various evidence for God's existence on Y! Answers, but it never makes a dent. The same atheists are still here denying that any evidence exists. Do you not read the answers at all?

  • Which side has done more killing?

I wonder, over the course of history, if more Christians have been killed for their beliefs or have more people been killed by Christians for not believing?

Which do you think it is? Cite references if possible!

  • Do evolutionists realize?

In the 1860's, there was a common belief that some more "basic" animals could simply form out different substances. Maggots could form in rotting meat, worms formed from dirt, certain toads could form in mud. The belief was called "Spontaneous Generation" and was used to explain a lot of things science didn't understand yet.

Darwin applied this same silly superstitious belief to answering one of the most important questions ever asked...How did life begin on Earth? He said that in a pool of some unknown "primordial soup" the correct conditions existed for the spontaneous formation of life.

Here's the best part....you believe it! Why???

  • Why do atheist believe ancient people were morons?

They didn't have special effects or mass media back then, so I would think the people would be harder to fool back then. You didn't see a stranger being "healed" on tv...it was the neighbor you'd lived next door to your whole life. And yet atheists won't believe any of these ancient accounts, supposedly because these ancient people were too stupid to be credible witnesses.
