For Couples: Calming irrational fears....?

The other night on Desperate Housewives Lynette said to her husband "We are supposed to calm each others irrational fears". Do you agree or do you think that because the fear is irrational that you should not have to calm them for your partner ?

i agree an irrational fear will not go away unless you. can talk to somebody about it.who better to talk to than your partner.when two people get together they should want to help you with these fears. if they don't then they should tell you so before they commit to a relationship.

Just because a fear is irrational does not mean that is it not a REAL fear.

A couple should support one another and helping to calm someone who is upset is a positive thing.

Example: Bugs, snakes, etc. do not bother me in any way. A guy a work just hates them. To ME, this is an irrational fear when the spider, snake, etc is harmless. Even if the
creature IS poisonous you do not have to be afraid of it, just respectful of it.

So in my eyes he has an irrational fear, but I am supportive of him when a huge spider crawls into his desk. I simply pick it up and take it outside. I do not tease him or make fun of him. I don't toss it on him to prove it is harmless. I just take it away and that is the end of it.

For our loved ones we should do more than for just the people we work with or meet.
