Btw, the sentence makes complete grammatical sense.... Paraphrased, it would read something like
"Doc, listen. I disagree. Dieting never prevented fatness. I eat only cod."

Fasting means to do without. When you resume eating your body will hold onto the mfeal longer than normal in the event you "fast" and leave it empty again. it has to store up.
