Yeah, we've been calling it a planet for years, why change it now? It's just another instance of the little guy being hassled by the man.
There are some things that science just shouldn't change. A tomato will always be a veggie to me, and Pluto will always be a planet.

As a matter of fact it was an apt decision. If it had'nt been done then with newer n much smaller celestial objects comparable to Pluto being discovered, it would expand the solar system greatly. They would deserve the same planetry status. Science cant be discriminatory. For long pluto as a planet remained an enigma defying the regular celestial features of the rest of the planets. This decision only shows that the age of discovery and renaissance hasnt come to an end. So stop worrying and get your telescope out. You might just make a DEEP IMPACT in the history of astronomy!!!

I agree. Pluto has been considered a planet for so long. Why, all of a sudden, is Pluto not good enough to be a planet? It does complicate things quite a bit for those of us who have always known it as a planet.

Since it is no longer a planet...what are they going to do about the probe they sent to Pluto that should reach Pluto in the year 2015?

true. Things like planet is just a term/defination for something anyway. I don't think we need to be so particular about it.

I will continue to regard pluto as 1 of the 9 planets despite it's demotion by scientist because pluto have always been 1 of my most favourite planet.

No... as a matter of fact, this simplifies things significantly!! If Pluto had remained a planet, then there are at least 2 dozen more similar objects further out than it that should have gained planet status... UB 313 is among them.
